Red light camera case heads to Ohio Supreme Court

Red light camera case heads to Ohio Supreme Court |Dayton, OH new:
Columbus-Love them or hate them, the argument over red light cameras in Ohio will resume next week when the Ohio Supreme Court hears arguments on a lawsuit launched by the city of Dayton against the 2014 state law that effectively bans the electronic traffic cops.
Dayton is arguing that three elements of the 2014 law are unconstitutional because they undercut local municipalities’ home-rule authority to self-govern.
A ruling on the case will likely have statewide ramifications.
Image result for Red light camera caseDayton first installed red light cameras in June 2002 and then in February 2010 added cameras to catch speeders as well.
Tickets were treated as civil infractions, rather than criminal, and resulted in fines but no points on a driver’s license.
A police officer would review video and photos before a citation would be issued.
Other Ohio cities, large and small, made use of the cameras to enforce traffic laws and generate revenue.
In December 2014, lawmakers passed a bill that severely curtails use of the cameras by requiring that a full-time police officer be present when the cameras are on, mandating that a traffic study be conducted before a camera is installed, requiring a public awareness campaign before a camera is installed and limiting citations to speeders going 10 miles per hour over the limit in most areas and 6 mph in school zones..."

Massive security preparations under way for inauguration, amid protest threats to 'paralyze' DC | Fox News

Massive security preparations under way for inauguration, amid protest threats to 'paralyze' DC | Fox News:

"The stage is set for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration – not just the traditional swearing-in platform on Capitol Hill, but a massive security presence amid protest plans to “shut down” the nation’s capital.

Most crowd estimates for the Jan. 20 festivities are far short of the record-setting 1.8 million visitors for President Obama’s historic 2009 inauguration. But the throngs of spectators and protesters alike are enough to create transit, security and hospitality challenges."

Home Secretary Amber Rudd speech on foreign workers treated as 'hate incident' by police

Home Secretary Amber Rudd speech on foreign workers treated as 'hate incident' by police | The Independent:
"Home Secretary Amber Rudd's speech to the Conservative Party conference on foreign workers was treated as a "hate incident" by police.
In her speech in October 2016 the Tory minister proposed tougher rules on foreign workers to stop immigrants coming to the UK “taking jobs British people could do”.
Her comments were reported to West Midlands Police by Joshua Silver, a physics professor at the University of Oxford.
Police have now written to Mr Silver stating the incident “has been recorded in line with the National Police Chiefs’ Council manual as a non-crime hate incident”.
In her speech in Birmingham, the former energy secretary said: “I want us to look again at whether our immigration system provides the right incentives for businesses to invest in British workers.”
She continued: “I can announce today, we will shortly be consulting on the next steps needed to control immigration..."

Stephanopoulos Dumbfounded When Conway Says Media Tried to Help Hillary Win Election

Stephanopoulos Dumbfounded When Conway Says Media Tried to Help Hillary Win Election:

"Wednesday’s Good Morning America had anchor George Stephanopoulos struggling to regain control of the interview after Trump’s senior advisor Kellyanne Conway called the media out for for their pro-Clinton bias. After repeated attempts to get Conway to answer whether or not Trump accepted that Russia hacked the election, Conway hit back, accusing the media of being the ones who tried to sway the results of the election for Hillary.

For most of the nearly five-minute long interview, Stephanopoulos hammered Conway on the just-released anonymous report claiming Russia had damaging information on Donald Trump."

ANNALS OF OIKOPHOBIA: ThinkProgress Senior Editor Is Scared Of His Plumber:
A visit from a plumber left ThinkProgress senior editor Ned Resnikoff “rattled” due to fear that the plumber may have voted for Donald Trump.

Resnikoff stated his fears in a November Facebook post, a screenshot of which is now making the rounds on the Internet.

The plumbing visit, which came four days after the 2016 election, became a harrowing experience for Resnikoff even though the plumber was “a perfectly nice guy and a consummate professional.”

“He was a perfectly nice guy and a consummate professional,” Resnikoff shared. “But he was also a middle-aged white man with a southern accent who seemed unperturbed by this week’s news.”

Resnikoff said his fear was rooted in the chance that the plumber knew he was Jewish.

“While I had him in the apartment, I couldn’t stop thinking about whether he had voted for Trump, whether he knew my last name is Jewish, and how that knowledge might change the interaction we were having inside my own home,” he said.

The “uncertainty” of the situation left Resnikoff “rattled for some time.”
This reminds me of law professor Wendy Brown’s backwoods encounter with a man in an NRA hat who helpfully fixed her car, only to be the star of a Yale Law Journal article in which she speculated that he might have been a rapist.
That produced Doug Laycock’s memorable piece, Vicious Stereotypes In Polite Society. (Really, click through and read it, you’ll be glad you did).
Things haven’t gotten any better in the 25 years since.
(And I remember Laycock telling me at the time that he was disturbed to have some of his colleagues tell him — quietly, when no one was around — that he was “brave” to have published that piece. Moreso today!)
On the other hand, I had some workmen at my house a while back and the foreman looked at me and said, “You’re the InstaPundit, right? I read you all the time . . . but I’m really one of Ace’s Morons.” And I felt good about that."

Cop Gives Man a $128 Ticket for Starting Car, Leaving It Running in His Own Driveway

Cop Gives Man a $128 Ticket for Starting Car, Leaving It Running in His Own Driveway - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
"In Roseville, Michigan, it's a crime to start your car and leave it running in your own driveway, according to the police.
Nick Taylor received a $128 ticket for leaving his car running in order to warm it up—even though that's something absolutely everyone in Michigan does during winter.
(As a former Michigander, I speak from personal experience.)
Taylor posted a picture of the ticket on Facebook
The ticket describes Taylor's car as "unattended."
"Let's all take a moment to thank officer dipshit K. Keary for wasting the taxpayer's money and giving me a ticket for warming up my car in my own damn driveway," wrote Taylor.
Roseville Police Chief James Berlin told Fox-8 News that leaving the keys in the ignition was a "public safety issue."
But it's unavoidable. It's freezing cold in Michigan during the winter..."

Iran: U.S. Surrendered More Than $10 Billion in Gold, Cash, Assets:

"The Obama administration has paid Iran more than $10 billion in gold, cash, and other assets since 2013, according to Iranian officials, who disclosed that the White House has been intentionally deflating the total amount paid to the Islamic Republic.

Senior Iranian officials late last week confirmed reports that the total amount of money paid to Iran over the past four years is in excess of $10 billion, a figure that runs counter to official estimates provided by the White House."

Summit Daily letters: Colorado ski laws favor reckless snow-thugs

Summit Daily letters: Colorado ski laws favor reckless snow-thugs | SummitDaily.com:
"Colorado and ski company laws/rules may actually encourage some to assume they are “bullet-proof” from resort rules and to actually encourage colliders to run away when they hit someone on the slopes.
Image result for snowboard collisionTwo years ago, at Breckenridge, a twenty-something boarder and his friend were racing down the slope next to a copse of trees that ended at the wide catwalk folks use to get from one run to another.
Moving fast and not able to see beyond the trees, one nailed a 50ish skier in our group — big time!
The boarder also crashed and landed near me, got up, looked uphill, turned and appeared to be getting ready to take off.
I skied over, put my arm around his shoulder and told him he wasn’t going anywhere until we saw to the man he hit.
Almost immediately, two ski patrollers arrived and checked to see if the downed victim was seriously injured.
He didn’t seem to need
They then skied down to the two boarders and me.
The boarders told the ski patrollers I had restrained the guilty boarder, which I had.
Then things got real frosty.
They asked if the boarder wanted to press charges..."

Trump 'Dossier' Story Betrays Massive Media Double Standard | LifeZette:
"Fallout from BuzzFeed’s decision to publish a 35-page memo on President-Elect Donald Trump continued Wednesday, as even liberal journalists ran for cover.
The memo, which even the left-leaning digital news outlet admitted was “unverified,” alleged Russian spies have dirt on Trump of a financial and sexual nature, and that he is beholden to Russian leaders.
“We can look forward to four to eight years of this.
The American media is the most corrupt institution in our society.”

Federal Judge Orders Homeland Security to Produce “Preservation Requests” for Email Records for Secretary Jeh Johnson, Top DHS Officials - Judicial Watch

Federal Judge Orders Homeland Security to Produce “Preservation Requests” for Email Records for Secretary Jeh Johnson, Top DHS Officials - Judicial Watch:

"(Washington DC) – Judicial Watch announced that a federal court judge ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to produce this week any “preservation requests” for emails sent to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Chief of Staff Christian Marrone, and General Counsel Stevan Bunnell. The order from U.S District Court Judge Randolph Moss came in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking agency records in the personal email accounts used by the four top Homeland Security officials (Judicial Watch v U.S. Department of Homeland Security (No. 1:16-cv-00967)).   The court order, issued last week after a hearing, requires DHS to comply by January 12 (Thursday).

At last week’s January 5 hearing, Obama Justice Department lawyers confirmed that nothing had been done to retrieve government records from Jeh Johnson or the other officials’ accounts.  According to the hearing transcript:"

How they "think"-----I love America. It's Americans I hate.

I love America. It's Americans I hate.:
"...Like a lot of people, I'm still trying to figure out what policy to adopt, and what marginal role I can play, in the incoming dystopia.
My official policy toward a Trump administration is straightforward enough (even if implementing it won't be): Defy, paralyze, and undermine it in any way I can.
...A vote cast for Trump is kind of like a murder; there may be context to consider — a disadvantaged background, extenuating circumstances, understandable motives — but the choice itself is binary and final, irrevocable.
There's a case to be made that it's indefensible; that his supporters have forfeited any right to be respected or taken seriously.
The conservatives of the heartland have lashed back against the coastal elites' condescending, classist prejudices by defiantly confirming them: that they're pathetically dumb and gullible, uncritical consumers of any disinformation that confirms their biases, easy dupes for any demagogue who promises to bring back the factories and keep the brown people down.
Ignorance and bigotry are actually the best possible motives for having voted for Trump — they are at least honest, if not honorable.
But I don't believe all Trump voters are ignorant, or bigoted; most of them are just evil..."

Democratic Senator Touts Debunked WaPo Power Grid Story

Democratic Senator Touts Debunked WaPo Power Grid Story | The Daily Caller:
"New Hampshire Sen. Maggie Hassan appeared to be unaware during a Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday that a Washington Post story about Russian hacking into the Vermont power grid has been completely debunked and retracted.
“Two weeks ago The Washington Post reported that a hacking group connected with the Russian government managed to infiltrate the Burlington Electric power company in Vermont,” Hassan said to retired Marine Gen. John Kelley during his confirmation hearing to head the Department of Homeland Security.
Hassan, who took office this month after serving as governor of New Hampshire, showed no indication during the questioning that she was aware that The Post’s story has been found to be “fake news.”
She continued her statement based on the premise that the Russian government had targeted and infiltrated Vermont’s power grid.
In its article, entitled “Russian hackers penetrated U.S. electricity grid through a utility in Vermont, officials say,” The Post reported that Russian hackers had found their way into Burlington Electric’s computer systems and its power system controls.
But the power company issued a statement saying that it had not been compromised.
...The newspaper published a follow-up article several days later noting that its initial report was nearly completely inaccurate and that Russian agents neither infiltrated the Vermont system nor attempted to do so.
Hassan seemed clueless about any of those developments in the story..."

Commentary: 5 incredible things Obama could have bought instead of adding $10 trillion in debt

Commentary: 5 incredible things Obama could have bought instead of adding $10 trillion in debt – TheBlaze:
"Supporters of Obama say the debt accumulated under his watch was necessary to slow one of the worst recessions in modern history, but the truth is this gargantuan sum of cash was mostly wasted on failed social and government programs that did little to help the economy.
Just one example is the $831 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly called the “stimulus package.”
Just some of the excellent “stimuli” provided by the ARRA included

  • $1.3 million for road signs advertising the success of the stimulus package,
  • $1.2 million sent to researchers at the University of California-San Francisco to study erectile dysfunction,
  • and a whopping $535 million on the boondoggle Solyndra, a now-bankrupt solar-power manufacturer.

Image result for obama wasting moneyAlthough common-sense economists would never argue in favor of adding $10 trillion to the national debt, to illustrate just how foolish and wasteful the Obama years have been, consider for a moment the many things that could have been purchased with just half the debt added while President Obama has been in office, about $5 trillion.
No. 1: Gigantic homes for every impoverished family
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were, on average, 9.26 million families living below the poverty level each year from 2009 to 2015.
Using $5 trillion, the United States could have purchased each one of those families a home worth $539,000, or a home worth about $269,000 plus $269,000 in cash..."

Professor Hits Liberal Crybabies with Brutal Message That Every American Needs To Hear | The Proud Conservative

Professor Hits Liberal Crybabies with Brutal Message That Every American Needs To Hear | The Proud Conservative:

"Let’s get something straight right now. You have no right to be unoffended. You have a right to be offended with regularity. It is the price you pay for living in a free society. If you don’t understand that you are confused and dangerously so. In part, I blame your high school teachers for failing to teach you basic civics before you got your diploma. Most of you went to the public high schools, which are a disaster. Don’t tell me that offended you. I went to a public high school."

I Visited The Church Of Scientology. Here's What Happened

I Visited The Church Of Scientology. Here's What Happened:
Last week I wandered into the Church of Scientology in Pasadena, California, and what happened during my visit made me afraid for the church's members.
Pasadena, California — While shopping along Raymond Avenue in Old Town Pasadena last week, my friend and I stopped into the Church of Scientology to take a free personality test that was advertised on an A-frame chalkboard sign just outside.
As a Christian, I wasn’t really searching for guidance or salvation, but I wanted to hear the Church of Scientology’s elevator pitch.

I wanted to know what they said to make people fork over massive amounts of money, or even distance themselves from family members in an effort to work their way up the church’s ranks.
I couldn’t help but notice how luxurious the building was.

The church’s visitors center looked like a museum.
There were exhibits with many informational panels complete with interactive video screens and elaborate visual props.
During our afternoon visit, I noticed there was an indoor fountain, several movie theatre rooms and a coffee shop just in the portions of the building I wandered into.
It’s estimated that about $1.5 billion of the church’s $1.75 billion worth is tied up in real estate holdings worldwide, and some former church members claim that Scientology is nothing more than “a fundraising ploy to buy real estate, to persuade people to give them money.”
Upon entering, my friend and I were greeted by a young man at the front desk named Andrew, who wore a grin that never seemed to escape his face.

He explained to us that we should allow an hour to take the Oxford Capacity Analysis developed by the church’s founder, L. Ron. Hubbard.
The test would reveal our biggest strengths and weaknesses.
We were given pencils and a scantron-like test as we were guided to an area just beyond the visitors center with rows of desks that were partitioned off.

Narcissistic Ring Master

By Tammy Derouin

The U-Haul trucks cannot pull up to the White House soon enough!  The Liberal circus continues.  As we enter these final couple of weeks of the most anti-American administration in our history, activity under the big top goes into high gear.  It really shouldn’t be a surprise.  Anybody who thought Mr. Obama was going to leave peacefully or quietly, has not been paying attention to the last eight years.

You can almost hear the propaganda puppets doing their final, farewell biding for their master….Step right up!  Come one, come all!  Get your ticket to see the final act before the curtain falls.  This is your last chance to see the Master of Illusion, err…. Master of Delusion, err a… Just come and watch as the Ring Master juggles his final acts!

The first ring is the Ring of Desperation.  There will be endless ploys to keep you entranced in a world of make-believe. The second ring is the Ring of Deceit.  As a master of illusion, he keeps his faithful audience in a perpetual state of delusion.  The magical trickery keeps his audience in the dark as he is ever so careful to never reveal his true, secretive intentions.  And last, but far from least, it wouldn’t be a Leftist Circus without the Ring of Blame.  Please check the disclaimer at the bottom of your ticket.  Should you, for any reason, not be satisfied, if you are left feeling empty, broke, used, ignored or just highly frustrated and unhappy in general with this show of shows, it is not the fault of the Narcissistic Ring Master or his rage-tag team of self-serving cohorts.   No, no matter how bad it gets, even with their fingerprints all over the evidence, it will never, ever be their fault.

The smoke and mirror acts, which the Left is so famously known for utilizing, have been enlisted, per usual, to distract your attention away from reality........
