Wolverine Human Services, which has a 145-bed juvenile facility in Vassar called the Pioneer Work and Learn Center, could house some of the children who are coming into the United States by the thousands from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.The U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. General Services Administration have met with the Wolverine facility's leaders to discuss a contract.
According to the Wolverine's website, the agency is reviewing a contract to maintain a 60-bed shelter for male unaccompanied minors ages 12-17.
The children are not defined as illegal immigrants, according to Wolverine."
