"YPSILANTI, MI -- Ypsilanti Township Trustee Jean Hall Currie hasn't attended a Board of Trustees meeting since October 2014 due to an unspecified illness.
Already taxpayers have paid Hall Currie around $22,000 for her no shows.
That's an issue to Ypsilanti Township leaders, but there's nothing within the state law that allows them to withhold her payment or remove her from the Board.
...Trustees are paid for $15,000 for 20 meetings each calendar year, not including special meetings
...Though she's quieter than the other elected officials at the board table, Hall Currie, who has served as a trustee since 1988, is popular in terms of votes received.
In the 2012 election, she received the most votes of a dozen trustee candidates with 3,088, representing just under 20 percent of the count.
