Utica Community Schools announce armed police presence in high schools
"As threats to schools in Macomb County and around metropolitan Detroit mount, the city of Sterling Heights, in conjunction with public schools within its boundaries, have decided to add more police presence to add to student safety.
Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor and Police Chief Dale Dwojakowski, along with Utica Community Schools Superintendent Christine Johns, announced two, full-time school resource officers will be placed within the two UCS high schools in the city -- Henry Ford II High School and Stevenson High School. 
UCS has a similar program in place with Shelby Township, in which full-time officers will be embedded in Eisenhower and Utica High Schools. 
The programs have been in place for about a week..."
