"There is so much subliminal bias in our media.
The overt bias is easy to see but I just heard a CBS reporter say something that I realized that we actually hear all the time.
It seems inconsequential but as we all know, while repeating something over and over doesn't make it true, it does turn it into conventional wisdom (a generally accepted theory or belief - and one that is not necessarily true or factual).
- When reporting on something Democrats asserted, it was just reported straight up, as in: "The economy is X, Y or Z."
- When reporting on something Republicans asserted, they almost always insert the modifier "Republicans say" or "Trump says".
The result of this is that this approach turns even the most undisputed fact into a Republican opinion, and therefore suspect.
This isn't as obvious as the tried and true "Republicans seize!" or "Republicans pounce!" modifiers - but the more common subliminal suggestions are far more ubiquitous and therefore more effective.
This is how the media lies to you without really "lying".
