There were prohibitions in place preventing anyone from continuing the development of civilian supersonic flights after the Concorde died out. 

• They deliberately limited it to allow ONLY the Concorde to survive, with NO innovation/upgrades allowed, and waited for it to die off. 

Which it did. 

So several decades now, tech advancement and innovation in this area has been ARTIFICIALLY SUPPRESSED.
