A few years ago, a prominent writer for The New Yorker magazine regularly posted hateful things about white people on her social media.
She openly said she “hated them” and that white people are “dirty” and “responsible for plagues” in history.
It’s potentially very damaging when individuals say these kinds of things from positions of influence and power—such as a former MSNBC anchor and The New Yorker magazine writer—and aren’t called out for it.

- This double standard is certainly noticeable because if white people said any of this about other ethnic groups, there would be zero tolerance for that kind of rhetoric.
