  • The news you read and the news you watch is for sale. 
And if you don’t see a problem with that…you might be a journalist.
Journalists carry two tools, but can only make it to the shore with one:
  • Credibility
  • The ability to influence events
With every slanted headline, they toss aside credibility in favor of influence. 
  • But slanted stories are only part of the problem with news.

Looking through the 2024 disclosures for the Detroit ABC affiliate, WXYZ, I found that Good Morning America was the outbreak monkey.
What appeared to be a new feature on the Northern Lights — “GMA explores the Northern Lights” — was actually paid for by Canada’s tourism arm. 
  • This is pay-to-play news, on one of America’s most trusted brands.
