“Facebook mines extensive user data and classifies its users based on protected characteristics. Facebook’s ad targeting tools then invite advertisers to express unlawful preferences by suggesting discriminatory options,” the Housing and Urban Development Department said in the complaint.
I think Facebook is a choice, just like walking through the mall, or any retail outlet. The advertising is more than apparent, and the advertisers all wish they had the resources of Facebook to promote products. The only discrimination is attempting to use the government to harass a single merchant, and allowing others to do the same.
ReplyDeleteIf people have a problem with Facebook, turn it off. Like all businesses, the consumer is the real controller of success, and a lack of consumers eventually leaves the company out of business.
