• A bill that would slap everyday citizens with fines for saying something the political class doesn’t like about elections.

This bill is Senate Bill 533 (SB 533), introduced by Sen. Mary Cavanagh (D-Redford Township) in the Michigan Senate...

• Under SB 533, if you “maliciously” spread what they decide is “false” information about elections or voter eligibility, you could get hit with up to $1,000 in fines. 
• If your employer is involved for “election-related purposes,” it could be up to $10,000.
