Well, while it is not guaranteed, it is in character and consistent with decades of GOPe betrayal. While it is a not uncommon prediction, if they do the "Whig Moment" may well have come. And with no organized opposition to the Left, and with the Social Contract in tatters, it would be good to remember what happened shortly after the first "Whig Moment".
