Pentagon Car Rentals: We Don’t Try Harder

Pentagon Car Rentals: We Don’t Try Harder | TIME.com:
"Eighty-nine of the vehicles were driven less than 1,000 miles each. The Navy, Defense Logistics Agency, the Pentagon Force Protection Agency and the Washington Headquarters Services agency lacked controls to ensure they leased only needed vehicles.
As a result, they spent $2 million annually on the leases when they should have spent only $800,000."

Oklahoma Anti-Sharia Law Thrown Out by a Federal Judge |

Oklahoma Anti-Sharia Law Thrown Out by a Federal Judge |:
"Tulsa World reports:
An Oklahoma constitutional amendment that would bar the state’s courts from considering or using Sharia law was ruled unconstitutional Thursday by a federal judge in Oklahoma City.
In finding the law in violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Establishment Clause, U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange issued a permanent injunction prohibiting the certification of the results of the state question that put the Sharia law ban into the state constitution.
“While the public has an interest in the will of the voters being carried out, the Court finds that the public has a more profound and long-term interest in upholding an individual’s constitutional rights,” the judge wrote.
How can a law that is being called upon to protect the Constitution of the United States be considered “unconstitutional?”

I would say "This defies any logic at all" but so much of today's news is illogical.
We are doomed......

Armed Washington Man Demands Victim Apologize "For All The Things White People Did To Black People"

Armed Washington Man Demands Victim Apologize "For All The Things White People Did To Black People": "The court document states that the victim identified the man as the "same person who had just pointed a handgun at him for 15-20 seconds and demanded he apologize for all the things white people did to black people."
The victim told the officers that he was “scared out of his mind” during the holdup.
He offered Nyashanu his wallet, but he was not interested in money.
He just wanted an apology.
The victim “apologized profusely” to Nyashanu, who then let him go.
Nyashanu’s gun was loaded when police found him, and he had several more rounds of ammunition in his backpack."

We are asking President Obama to fulfill his promise from his first campaign for Presidency of a transparent government.
Lastly we are asking for the release of the 9/11 commission report to the American people."

NAACP attacks Dartmouth students who threw 'Crips and Bloods' frat party:
"The Dartmouth College chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) harshly criticized a “Bloods and Crips” themed-party, despite apologies from the sorority and fraternity that hosted the event earlier this summer. "

No outrage from the NAACP on the real Bloods or Crips.
Just upset with the playtime ones.....

POLITICKING WITH TAXPAYER MONEY

Instapundit » Blog Archive » POLITICKING WITH TAXPAYER MONEY:
The Hill: Health group’s ObamaCare enrollment drive targets states with GOP governors.
“The window to begin enrolling in the law’s new coverage options opens in just 50 days.
Enroll America, a prominent nonprofit with close ties to the White House, said it’s focusing on 10 states as it ramps up a massive education campaign that will ultimately cost tens of millions of dollars.”

Enroll America isn’t just a “nonprofit,” it’s the shady “nonprofit” on whose behalf Kathleen Sebelius was shaking down companies she regulates for donations.
Now this non partisan nonprofit, on whose behalf a sitting Obama Administration official used her official position to raise money, is targeting Republican governors.
Remember when Democrats were complaining about a “culture of corruption?”

These Amazing Maps Show How Threatened Your Home Is by Fires, Floods, and Hurricanes | Wired Design | Wired.com:
"When people are shopping for homes, they look at the square footage and compare school districts, but few remember to ask the listing agent about the likelihood of their dream home being flattened by a nightmarish superstorm.
Trulia, the online real estate service, is trying to facilitate this uncomfortable conversation by providing buyers and renters a data visualization tool that maps the historical rate of wildfires, tornadoes, and hurricanes for a given zip code.
Yesterday, they put the finishing touches on one of the most comprehensive sets of disaster maps available anywhere."

"Amazon's just created a new web page where they're officially acknowledging fake reviews posted by their customers — and they've even selected their own favorites . ('I was very disappointed to have my uranium confiscated at the airport.
It was a gift for my son for his birthday.
Also, I'm in prison now, so that's not good either...')
On the front page of Amazon, in big orange letters, Amazon posted 'You guys are really funny.'And then — next to a funny picture of a rubber horse head mask — Amazon's linked to a list of some of the very best satirical reviews their customers have submitted over the years, noting fondly that 'occasionally customer creativity goes off the charts in the best possible way...'""

Muskegon County Airport to add bathroom beyond checkpoint

Muskegon County Airport to add bathroom beyond checkpoint | MLive.com:
Muskegon County commissioners, meeting as the board's Transportation Committee, approved a $80,000 Michigan Department of Transportation grant contract for the airport.
The airport will come up with the required 10 percent match.
About $60,000 of the grant will go toward adding a bathroom beyond the checkpoint, said Marty Piette, the airport manager.
He said there haven’t been complaints, but comments on the lack of a bathroom.
“It’s an inconvenience because people have to be screened again if they leave the area to use the bathroom,” Piette said.
The other $20,000 will be used to refurbish the de-ice truck, he said.
Piette said there are no plans in place yet for the bathroom, but he expects the $60,000 will get him through the planning stages.

Gun Control: A Real War on Women

Gun Control: A Real War on Women:
".....gun control is a real war on women. In denying women the right to keep and bear arms, governments at all levels force them into an attic like Mrs. Herman crawled into, but without the benefit of a gun. Instead of shooting their would-be killer or attacker, they must sit behind a locked door and hope the hinges hold until the police arrive. "

Wayne County's woes keep widening

Wayne County's woes keep widening | The Detroit News:
"Worse, Ficano’s county is hurtling toward the beginnings of a state takeover, evidently the only kind of reckoning understood by clueless politicians south of Eight Mile.
Anything less is license to practice business as usual — development boondoggles (county jail, Pinnacle Race Track), expensive early retirement packages, local and federal investigations.
We’ve seen this movie before in southeast Michigan:
Wayne County’s credit ratings are tanking.
Its budget deficits are widening.
Its pension fund for county retirees is woefully underfunded.
And what passes for financial management has the attention of the Treasury Department in Lansing."

Muskegon County schools preparing for Pledge of Allegiance mandate

Muskegon County schools preparing for Pledge of Allegiance mandate | MLive.com:
"Muskegon Public Schools Superintendent Jon Felske recently ordered 400 flags to put in classrooms throughout the district. The task will keep maintenance workers busy leading up to the first day of school Sept. 3."
"When we're having billion-dollar issues about public education, does this ... make a difference in the quality of education for our students?" Felske said. "I have no problem doing it, but is that the biggest educational thing we were able to achieve last year? I'm not non-patriotic, but ...."
Mona Shores Public Schools Superintendent Dave Peden said he believes most classrooms in his district already have flags, and that the elementary students already recite the pledge. Mona Shores High School put flags in all classrooms a couple of years ago, though reciting the Pledge will be new for students there, Peden said.
Peden didn't think forcing schools to provide the Pledge was necessarily appropriate, suggesting that instead "maybe every family should say it before they leave in the morning."
"If it increases student achievement, I'm all for it. I've not been able to make that connection yet," Peden said. "If we felt it was important, we would have already been doing it. Now that we're forced to, we'll be doing it.
"But in the big scheme of things, what difference does it make?" he said. "We have so many other things to worry about.
