“And, the savings that were seen were limited to certain types of customers (very large users) and would be far outweighed by the cost of installing the new meter systems,” he said."

By the same token, when global liquidity dries up, those very same countries with weak fundamentals get truly punished by the market."

Michigan Freedom Fund lists 6 embarrassing Democrats

Tim Skubick: Michigan Freedom Fund lists 6 embarrassing Democrats | MLive.com
At the top of the list, he dragged out a 2006 campaign spending violation by Mark Schauer. Maybe you’ve heard of him, although 70% of the voters have not. He’s the likely D running against Gov. Snyder.
The Schauer campaign was fined $200,000 for allegedly “ disregarding campaign finance laws.” Hit number one.
Hit number two.
Rep. Brian Banks (D-Detroit) has had his problems with the law and Mr. McNeilly is aggrieved that the House Democrats have done nothing about it other than to appoint Mr. Banks to the Criminal Justice committee. (Snicker, snicker.)
Hit number three.
A former state supreme court justice, Democrat Diane Hathaway, has traded in her black robe for a prison uniform. She’s in the slammer for shady business dealings.
Hit number four.
Where or where has Charles Pugh gone? The former president of the embattled Detroit City Council has been AWOL “after allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a teen boy” surfaced. Maybe Mr. Pugh is with Carman Santiago?
Hit number five.
Former Detroit Council woman Monica Conyers recently finished a prison term for bribery.
And hit number six: Kwame Kilpatrick is currently in the slammer but not with Ms. Hathaway.
Well there you have it, six hits or as the Freedom Fund sums it up, “One Michigan Democrat after another is either in prison, just got out of prison or is on their way there soon.”

Attorneys general raise privacy concerns over ObamaCare navigators (video) - The Hill's Healthwatch: "Bondi said that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is making it easier for someone to be hired as a so-called navigator, cutting back on background checks and eliminating a fingerprinting requirement, which could make it easier for a person’s private information to fall into the wrong hands.
“Because of time constraints, HHS [is] cutting back on the requirement to become a navigator, meaning they're not going to be doing background checks.
They're not going to be fingerprinting these people,” said Bondi in an interview with Fox.

“And it's more than navigators. It's people that assist the navigators.
Now, these navigators will have our consumers throughout the country's most personal and private information — tax return information, Social Security information.
And our biggest fear, of course, is identity theft.”

Texas Police Hit Organic Farm With Massive SWAT Raid

Texas Police Hit Organic Farm With Massive SWAT Raid:
The raid on the Garden of Eden farm appears to be the latest example of police departments using SWAT teams and paramilitary tactics to enforce less serious crimes. A Fox television affiliate reported this week, for example, that police in St. Louis County, Mo., brought out the SWAT team to serve an administrative warrant. The report went on to explain that all felony warrants are served with a SWAT team, regardless whether the crime being alleged involves violence.
In recent years, SWAT teams have been called out to perform regulatory alcohol inspections at a bar in Manassas Park, Va.; to raid bars for suspected underage drinking in New Haven, Conn.; to perform license inspections at barbershops in Orlando, Fla.; and to raid a gay bar in Atlanta where police suspected customers and employees were having public sex. A federal investigation later found that Atlanta police had made up the allegations of public sex.
Other raids have been conducted on food co-ops and Amish farms suspected of selling unpasteurized milk products. The federal government has for years been conducting raids on medical marijuana dispensaries in states that have legalized them, even though the businesses operate openly and are unlikely to pose any threat to the safety of federal enforcers.
SWAT Team raids?!!!

The state sued ISTA and NEA, claiming more than $27 million was owed to participating school districts after the trust went under due to bad, high-risk investments.
Under the terms of the settlement, NEA and ISTA will pay $14 million to the state within 10 days of all 27 school districts involved agreeing to the terms. Which union owes what was not disclosed, but it is academic since the Indiana affiliate is millions of dollars in the red and still effectively under NEA administratorship. The immediate payment will have to come from NEA’s national coffers, which means teachers all across the country are on the hook again to bail out ISTA.

Oklahoma Anti-Sharia Law Thrown Out by a Federal Judge |:
"Tulsa World reports:
An Oklahoma constitutional amendment that would bar the state’s courts from considering or using Sharia law was ruled unconstitutional Thursday by a federal judge in Oklahoma City.
In finding the law in violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Establishment Clause, U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange issued a permanent injunction prohibiting the certification of the results of the state question that put the Sharia law ban into the state constitution.
“While the public has an interest in the will of the voters being carried out, the Court finds that the public has a more profound and long-term interest in upholding an individual’s constitutional rights,” the judge wrote.
How can a law that is being called upon to protect the Constitution of the United States be considered “unconstitutional?”

I would say "This defies any logic at all" but so much of today's news is illogical.
We are doomed......

"When we're having billion-dollar issues about public education, does this ... make a difference in the quality of education for our students?" Felske said. "I have no problem doing it, but is that the biggest educational thing we were able to achieve last year? I'm not non-patriotic, but ...."
Mona Shores Public Schools Superintendent Dave Peden said he believes most classrooms in his district already have flags, and that the elementary students already recite the pledge. Mona Shores High School put flags in all classrooms a couple of years ago, though reciting the Pledge will be new for students there, Peden said.
Peden didn't think forcing schools to provide the Pledge was necessarily appropriate, suggesting that instead "maybe every family should say it before they leave in the morning."
"If it increases student achievement, I'm all for it. I've not been able to make that connection yet," Peden said. "If we felt it was important, we would have already been doing it. Now that we're forced to, we'll be doing it.
"But in the big scheme of things, what difference does it make?" he said. "We have so many other things to worry about.

An apology letter to Mr. Obama

An apology letter to Mr. Obama | The Matt Walsh Blog:
The fact is, a rodeo clown in Missouri made fun of you.
Nothing can ever ease the pain he has caused.
This sort of crass lampooning of public officials has never happened at a rodeo until now, and I know that because a bunch of people who have never been within 150 miles of a rodeo said so.
And then — worse still — the crowd erupted in applause at the spectacle of a guy in an Obama mask being chased by a rampaging bull.
Racists, the lot of ‘em!
I mean, Bush never got this sort of treatment.
Nobody ever mocked or satirized him.
No crude jokes were told about him.
Nobody ever wished violence or death upon him.
Ever.
You know why?
Because he’s white.
White presidents always get treated nicely, especially white Republicans.
Just ask Lincoln.
The whole country agreed for over two centuries that we don’t ever insult presidents, then you get into office and all of a sudden every day is Pick on the President Day.
Outrageous!
Besides, you are due some respect.
You’ve earned it.
You’ve done nothing but serve these people and make their lives better, and this is how they treat you? Ungrateful brats.
You should drone bomb these haters.
 Just kidding.
But seriously, you should.

DC Transgender Law Allows Birth Certificate Revision

DC Transgender Law Allows Birth Certificate Revision:
"A new law in Washington DC allows individuals to change the sex designation on their birth certificate based on the gender they personally identify as, no matter what sexual organs they actually have.
It's called the Marriage Officiant Amendment Act of 2013 and it repeals the old law that requires a surgical sex-change operation for an official gender switch on an individual's birth certificate.
Now, people who want to change their assigned sex in the eyes of the state only need to provide a written request and a signed statement from a healthcare provider."

What Global Warming? 2012 Data Confirms Earth In Cooling Trend

What Global Warming? 2012 Data Confirms Earth In Cooling Trend | CNS News:
"The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently released its “State of the Climate in 2012” report, which states that “worldwide, 2012 was among the 10 warmest years on record.”
But the report “fails to mention [2012] was one of the coolest of the decade, and thus confirms the cooling trend,” according to an analysis by climate blogger Pierre Gosselin.
“To no one’s surprise, the report gives the reader the impression that warming is galloping ahead out of control,” writes Gosselin.
“But their data shows just the opposite.”

MEA President Goes After Local Teachers' Union President

MEA President Goes After Local Teachers' Union President [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
"His most recent target is Jim Perialas, president of the Roscommon Teachers Association, an independent teachers' union that was formed after Roscommon teachers voted to decertify and form a local union last year.
Cook sent out an email recently to MEA members that said Perialas negotiated a contract that cut compensation for Roscommon teachers "up to 20 percent."
The email went on to attack Perialas, the Mackinac Center for Public Policy and others who support the state's right-to-work law, which gives teachers the freedom to choose whether they want to financially support a union in order to have a job.
The problem is that Cook's claims about 20 percent cuts aren't true, Perialas said. "

What's harder to understand is why teachers seem to be just fine with their union bosses lying to them.

The Gruesome Story of a Murdered Tennessee Couple You May Have Never Heard – But That You Will Never Forget | Video | TheBlaze.com:
"By the time Christian was taken into the living room, the five attackers realized they had left their DNA on their victim.
In an attempt to cover their tracks, they poured bleach down her throat and on her body before they wrapped her body in black garbage bags and covered her head in a plastic grocery bag.
“She was then placed in a garbage can in the kitchen of the house — all of this while she was still alive,” Beck noted.
“Channon Christian’s last minutes on earth were spent slowly suffocating in a garbage can after she had been savagely beaten and raped for hours,” he added.
Beck slammed “so-called” civil rights leaders Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for failing to demand justice in the brutal case.
He criticized the media just as harshly for failing to give the story the coverage it deserved."

Obamacare 'navigators' program invites massive fraud

Obamacare 'navigators' program invites massive fraud | WashingtonExaminer.com:
That identity theft and insurance scams will occur once the Obamacare mandate kicks in on Oct. 1 is one of the few things on which supporters and opponents of the program agree.
The reason is simple: Thousands of poorly trained "navigators" -- they're certified after 20 hours of online study -- will be assisting people who sign up for Obamacare.
Paid $58 per application and $25 per annual renewal, these navigators will gain access to Social Security numbers, tax information and other sensitive personal information.
They will not have to undergo background checks.
The Department of Health and Human Services will not verify their employment histories.
Nor will HHS check to see if they have criminal records.
The opportunity and incentive for fraud have rarely been so inviting.

AUGUST 13, 2013

BYRON YORK COMPARES THE RODEO CLOWN OUTRAGE with the abuse and violent language aimed at George W. Bush by members of the establishment.
Yeah, but he’s a rodeo clown.
The common folk should know their place.
I wonder if he’ll have to go into hiding, like George Zimmerman or Nakoula Nakoula, to escape the mob-frenzy whipped up by the President’s political apparat.
But here’s the truth: All this outrage is really an admission that Obama is weak, and can’t withstand the kind of criticism routinely directed at other presidents, from Nixon to Clinton to Bush.
President Asterisk, indeed.
UPDATE: Flashback: Liberals Were Silent When George Bush Dummies Were Used at Rodeos.
Bush wasn’t a media creation who would collapse like a rodeo dummy if subjected to criticism or mockery.
Plus this:
