White House, Hill Raided Millions from Anti-Bioterrorism Fund

White House, Hill Raided Millions from Anti-Bioterrorism Fund:
"Congress and the Obama White House looked for billions of dollars a few years ago to offset the costs of a legal settlement with black farmers and American Indians,  to increase education aid to the states and to develop a vaccine for swine flu.
To get those billions, they looked to the same coffer:
Project BioShield, a $5.6 billion fund created specifically to prepare America for a bioterrorist attack and develop treatments for deadly viruses such as Ebola.
Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., warned that the BioShield fund was not supposed to be raided as a source of “Monopoly money for politicians.”"

Dem Wants Gag Order On Liberal Lawyer Representing GOP In Obamacare Lawsuit | The Daily Caller:

"As part of his contract with the House of Representatives, Turley agreed not to speak to the media about the case itself. But Brady wants to extend that to pretty much anything critical of Obama’s use of executive power — especially convenient given the uproar concerning the White House’s announcement of executive amnesty just last week."

Liberal Group Sees Executive Actions as Way Forward, Offers a Wish List of Actions:

"Now that President Barack Obama has shown he does not need to work with Congress to achieve the changes he wants, a liberal organization is calling on Obama to go further.
Monday, the Campaign for America’s Future — a self-described “strategy center for the progressive movement” — co-director Robert Borosage offered up a left-wing wish list of items on which he says Obama should take action with his “pen and his phone.”

VA woman admits $7.2 million child-credit tax scam

VA woman admits $7.2 million child-credit tax scam « Watchdog.org
More than a year after Watchdog reported the IRS sent thousands refunds to the tiny town of Parksley, Va., a woman has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and mail fraud.
Linda Avila admitted to obtaining more than $7.2 million in refunds by exploiting the federal government’s child tax credit program.
Avila filed more than 1,700 tax returns with stolen identifications used by illegal immigrants, mainly from Mexico.
The Virginian-Pilot reported that Avila, 50, operated a landscaping and cleaning business in Parksley.
Investigators found copies of refund checks in amounts from $4,000 to more than $7,000.
The tax returns frequently cited foreign dependents, which increased the refund amounts.
Avila had the refunds mailed to various post office boxes on the Eastern Shore and in Delaware, according to court records.
The workers cashed the checks and turned over most of the money to Avila, keeping a small fee for themselves.

"A top Senate Republican is fuming over an announcement by Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen that he plans to hand out bonuses to union and non-union members who work for the agency, potentially including those who owe back taxes.
“It’s no wonder the American people find it hard to believe the IRS needs more money when the agency fails to collect back taxes from their own employees and instead rewards them with bonuses,”
Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, who is likely to become chairman of the Senate Finance Committee in January."

Sneak Peek: Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson’s Response to Racially Charged Question in First Interview After Grand Jury Decision | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"In his first interview since a Ferguson grand jury declined to indict him, officer Darren Wilson reportedly told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that he feared for his life and relied on his police training when he fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown earlier this year. The Path to a Permanent GOP Majority

The Path to a Permanent GOP Majority:

"The GOP has been granted a second chance after the November 2014 elections. If we want to lose our majorities again and help elect Hillary Clinton or whoever the Democrats decide to crown in 2016, the quickest way for us to do that is to spend like drunken sailors like we did last time we controlled both houses of Congress and get nothing else done.

What should we be doing?"

Orwellian campus initiative of the week: ‘Neutral Observer Program’ at UO
NeutralObserverProgram.UOMattersVia Peter Bonilla of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), who tweets “please let that be a joke flyer”:
The University of Oregon is apparently soliciting law students to serve as “neutral observers” at “protests, rallies, and demonstrations” on campus, according to the blog UO Matters, which is frequently critical of the administration.
The point of neutral observers is to provide a “calming effect” at events where safety is at risk, the school says
“The presence of trained observers at these events allows for the availability of unbiased witnesses should there be any form of escalation.”
They help “create a campus environment in which all voices can be heard” and “protect individual’s freedom of speech,” the school says.

Who Will Pay Ebola Patients' Medical Bills in the U.S.?

Who Will Pay Ebola Patients' Medical Bills in the U.S.? - NationalJournal.com:
"The arrival of Ebola in the United States this year led to an unprecedented medical response involving experimental drugs, round-the-clock care, and layers upon layers of protective gear.
And none of it has been cheap.
Nine people have been treated for the virus in the U.S. since August. Seven recovered.
The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, which treated one of them, estimates treatment for patients diagnosed with Ebola costs $50,000 a day.
Officials at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, which cared for two patients, put the daily cost at $30,000, and the total at $1.16 million for a single patient.
Most patients have been hospitalized for more than two weeks.
The U.S. has shown it can beat Ebola.
But who will pay for the expensive care it takes to do it?"

"Police departments in major cities around the country often are charged with enforcing the kinds of unconstitutional anti-gun laws for which cities like Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. have become known. "TAPPER: And keep in mind, of course, Gruber thinks ObamaCare is a good thing. It's just that we voters were too stupid to realize that. So, we had to be fooled. And that's why so many people are mad about it. And with a Republican-controlled Senate and House and a pending Supreme Court case, all of this impact might have an impact on you. "
