1. Look for a community solar program to be rolled out during the first quarter of 2015. Mengebier said the group is planning to roll out an initiative in which a West Michigan community would be eligible for a solar farm development. The company would solicit "subscribers" willing to purchase green energy at a higher rate from a new solar energy farm. If the subscribers are there, Consumers Energy would be willing to build a local solar array capable of producing a megawatt of electricity. The installation would likely cover several acres.

"You're paying a little bit more," Mengebier said. The solar energy is, on the whole, more expensive to produce.

2. Stay tuned for news on a potential Gamesa Wind farm development in Muskegon County. Consumers Energy confirmed Dec. 22 that it has been talking to Gamesa Wind about possibly buying electricity from a wind farm in development at the Muskegon County Wastewater Management System...

3. Despite a forecast energy shortage, the Muskegon B.C. Cobb is probably still coming down. Mengebier said that Michigan's Lower Peninsula is on track to have a two- or three-gigawatt shortfall of electricity by April 2016 because of the shutdown down older plants like the B.C. Cobb in Muskegon.

Don't panic -- the lights will stay on. Besides other safeguards in place, the company is required to be able to provide a 15-percent cushion on top of its peak demand, he said.

"We are not predicting that we are not going to be able to meet the environmental needs of our customers," Mengebier said. But closing down smaller coal-based plants like Muskegon's B.C. Cobb because of environmental regulations means that there's a gap that will need to be filled with alternative energy sources or newer plants.

"These are really old plants," he said. "Most of these were built in the 1950s."

In their application for the generous grant, the researchers claimed that a “preliminary” study “examined movies and found top-grossing G- and PG-rated movies depict unhealthy eating and sedentary activity as the norm, while simultaneously mocking overweight characters.”
...Thus, in order to be totally sure that some children’s movies feature fat people, the researchers somehow convinced the federal government that $433,577 needs to be spent..."

Here are some things that the average person can’t do in North Korea.

1. Beat Kim Jon il at bowling or golf (when he was alive). According to state propaganda, the first time he went bowling Kim Jon il bowled a perfect 300. The first time he went golfing he had 11 holes-in-one. According to the National Hole in one Registry, the chances of scoring 2 holes-in-one during a single round of golf is 67 million to one. One would assume 11 would be in the realm of billions if not trillions-to-one. This doesn’t factor in the average person  making a hole-in-one has 24 years of golfing experience. So, either North Korean propaganda is a lie (shocker!) or those 11 holes-in-one were from about 6 inches out.
2. Criticize the government.  There is no freedom of speech in North Korea and the worst prison camps in the country are reserved for political dissidents. According to Amnesty International, as many as 40 percent of prison camp inmates die from malnutrition. Since there are as many as 400,000 people in those camps, that’s a big number.
3. Own a vehicle or drive. In North Korea, only government and military officials can own motor vehicles. This makes North Korea even more restrictive than Saudi Arabia where women are forbidden to drive. Of course, in North Korea the average monthly salary is equivalent to $3 so that car payment would be quite out of reach.
4. Use electricity at night. I North Korea, homes that have electricity only receive it a few hours a day and the power is generally turned off completely at night. Of course, this doesn’t apply to the small group of elites that are the “more equal than others” in this communist nation.
5. Own private property. Almost all property in North Korea belongs to the state.
6. Practice your own faith. Religious freedom doesn’t exist in North Korea. Many of the people in North Korea’s prison camps are Christians. Christianity is outlawed and anyone found with a Bible is sent to prison along with 3 generations of their family.
7. Receive a fair trial. North Korea does not have a modern judicial system. There are probably a lot of innocent people the prison camp population of 400,000.
8. Use the Internet. At the moment the Internet is down in North Korea. Even when its up, many people don’t know it exists and its existence is intentionally kept from students. Because of this, any professional North Korean hacking group would have to either be outside of the country or an organization sanctioned and provided for by the government.
9. Use a cell phone. Cell phone use is restricted to foreign visitors on North Korea’s 3G network.
10. Grow your hair out. North Koreans are restricted to a government approved 28 haircut styles. Unmarried women and young men have to have short hair. Older men are allowed to grow their hair out as much as 2 3/4 inches.

When President Obama announced in September his “It’s On Us” initiative to combat college sexual assault, he declared that “an estimated 1 in 5 women has been sexually assaulted in her college years.”

“One in 5,” Obama repeated, to drive home the point.

But now, in the wake of a new federal Department of Justice report showing the incidence of rape and sexual assault on campus at far lower levels and trending down over the last decade, that statistic is being called into question.

Well, that’s because it’s bogus.
Which doesn’t stop Sen. Claire McCaskill, (D-Mo): “Frankly, it is irritating that anybody would be distracted by which statistics are accurate.”

A number of private security researchers are increasingly voicing doubts that the hack of Sony‘s computer systems was the work of North Korea.

President Obama and the F.B.I. last week accused North Korea of targeting Sony and pledged a “proportional response” just hours before North Korea’s Internet went dark without explanation. But security researchers remain skeptical, with some even likening the government’s claims to those of the Bush administration in the build-up to the Iraq war.

Fueling their suspicions is the fact that the government based its findings, in large part, on evidence that it will not release, citing the “need to protect sensitive sources and methods.” The government has never publicly acknowledged doing so, but the National Security Agency has begun a major effort to penetrate North Korean computer networks.

The lie that New York City policemen targeted Eric Garner for a violent arrest because he was black.
The lie, peddled especially by the progressive prince of New York City, Mayor de Blasio, that the police are racist.
These are the lies that fuel hatred for the police, because if the police routinely execute black men in cold blood and serve a thoroughly racist system, they deserve to be hated.
They should be the subject of nightly protests.
They should be showered with obloquy.
They should be harried by Attorney General Eric Holder.
They should be considered a stain on the national conscience to be extricated at all costs.
This is the line of reasoning that leads to protesters chanting: “What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want them? Now.”"
