Senator Murphy: Not Fair To Judge Gun Control Based On Whether It Works

Senator Murphy: Not Fair To Judge Gun Control Based On Whether It Works - Breitbart
During the June 19 airing of ABC’s This Week, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) dodged questions regarding the impotency of his gun control proposal by suggesting it is not fair to judge gun control based on whether it works.
Murphy made the suggestion in an exchange with host Jon Karl, after Karl pointed out that Murphy’s push to expand background checks to gun shows had no relevance to the details of the Pulse Orlando attack. In fact, Karl said, “Your proposal would have done nothing in the case of Orlando, it would have done nothing to stop the killing in San Bernardino.”
Karl added that Murphy’s push to expand background checks to gun shows would not have stopped the attack on Sandy Hook Elementary either. He then asked why Murphy was spending so much energy proposing legislation that has nothing to do with the “massacre” in Orlando?
According Newbusters.org, Murphy responded by saying:
So first of all, we can’t get into that trap. I disagree, I think if this proposal had been into effect it may have stopped the shooting. But we can’t get into the trap in which we are forced to defend our proposal simply because it didn’t stop the last tragedy.
In other words, Murphy is saying it is not fair to judge gun control based on whether it works.

British Lose Right to Claim That Americans Are Dumber

British Lose Right to Claim That Americans Are Dumber - The New Yorker:
"LONDON (The Borowitz Report)—Across the United Kingdom on Friday, Britons mourned their long-cherished right to claim that Americans were significantly dumber than they are.
Image result for british elites brexitLuxuriating in the superiority of their intellect over Americans’ has long been a favorite pastime in Britain, surpassing in popularity such games as cricket, darts, and snooker.
But, according to Alistair Dorrinson, a pub owner in North London, British voters have done irreparable damage to the “most enjoyable sport this nation has ever known: namely, treating Americans like idiots.”
“When our countrymen cast their votes yesterday, they didn’t realize they were destroying the most precious leisure activity this nation has ever known,” he said.
“Wankers.”
In the face of this startling display of national idiocy, Dorrinson still mustered some of the resilience for which the British people are known.
This is a dark day,” he said.
“But I hold out hope that, come November, Americans could become dumber than us once more.”"

FLASHBACK: ABC News Warns NYC Will Be Under Water by 2015 Due to Global Warming and Polar Bears Will Fall From Sky
"Seven years ago ABC News warned viewers that New York City will be under water by 2015 due to global warming.
New York City underwater?
Gas over $9 a gallon?
A carton of milk costs almost $13?
Welcome to June 12, 2015.
Or at least that was the wildly-inaccurate version of 2015 predicted by ABC News exactly seven years ago.
Appearing on Good Morning America in 2008, Bob Woodruff hyped Earth 2100, a special that pushed apocalyptic predictions of the then-futuristic 2015.
The segment included supposedly prophetic videos, such as a teenager declaring, “It’s June 8th, 2015.
One carton of milk is $12.99.”
(On the actual June 8, 2015, a gallon of milk cost, on average, $3.39.)
Another clip featured this prediction for the current year: “Gas reached over $9 a gallon.”...

Mass Shooting Myth — U.S. Homicide Rate Hits 51-year Low as Gun Ownership Increased 141%

Mass Shooting Myth — U.S. Homicide Rate Hits 51-year Low as Gun Ownership Increased 141% | The Daily Liberator:
In the wake of the Orlando nightclub massacre, politicians have attempted to use the tragedy as means of garnering public support for increased gun control measures.
Four pieces of knee-jerk gun control legislation were defeated in Congress yesterday, but the debate surrounding gun rights continues unabated.
homicide_51yrThe new narrative is that “mass shootings,” defined by the FBI as 3 or more people killed in one incident, are at epidemic level and thus require society to increase restrictions on gun ownership as a means of saving lives and lowering the U.S. homicide rate.
However, this narrative flies in the face of reality as the homicide rate in the U.S. is actually at a 51-year low, according to FBI data.
The homicide rate in the U.S. for 2014, the most recent year available, was 4.5 per 100,000.
The 2014 total is part of a long downward trend and is the lowest homicide rate recorded since 1963 when the rate was 4.6 per 100,000. The last time the homicide rate in the U.S. was lower than it is now was in 1957 when the total homicide rate was 4.0 per 100,000.

Man Who Remains a Suspect in JonBenet Ramsey Murder Case is Arrested for Disgusting Images
"Boulder, Colorado, police arrested a man after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, indicating that he was downloading child pornography.
It was a man they’ve seen before— fifty-two-year-old Gary Oliva, a suspect in the unsolved JonBenet Ramsey case.
As Denver 7 reports, investigators have long believed that Oliva was close to the Ramsey home on the night of JonBenet’s murder in 1996.
And on the one year anniversary of her death, the registered sex offender was spotted at a candlelight vigil held in her honor.
Adding to investigator’s suspicions, when Oliva was arrested back in 2000 for unrelated charges, police found him to be in possession of a photo of JonBenet.
Even more, the man has admitted to having an obsession with JonBenet.
We haven’t ruled him in or out in connection with the Ramsey case,” says Sarah Huntley, a spokesperson with the City of Boulder..."

Rep. Louie Gohmert Furiously Confronts Dems Staging Sit-In for Gun Control: ‘Radical Islam Killed These People!’ | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"As the House Democrats’ gun control sit-in hit its 12th hour late Wednesday night, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) threw down the gauntlet to Republicans.

“It appears the gentleman is afraid to vote and afraid to debate,” Sherman hollered from the podium as his fellow Democrats cheered. “And given the weakness of his arguments and his position, his fear is well founded.”

With that a furious Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) met Sherman’s challenge, marched down to the House floor and pointed at a large poster of the Orlando terror victims."

Federal Lab Closed After 'Disturbing' Data Manipulation

Federal Lab Closed After 'Disturbing' Data Manipulation | The Daily Caller
Nearly two decades and $108 million worth of “disturbing” data manipulation with “serious and far ranging” effects forced a federal lab to close, a congressman revealed Thursday.
The inorganic section of the U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Energy Geochemistry Laboratory in Lakewood, Colo. manipulated data on a variety of topics – including many related to the environment – from 1996 to 2014.
The manipulation was caught in 2008, but continued another six years.
Image result for government lies“It’s astounding that we spend $108 million on manipulated research and then the far-reaching effects that that would have,” Rep. Bruce Westerman said at a House Natural Resources subcommittee hearing.
“We know how research multiples and affects different parts of our society and our economy and … if you’re working off of flawed data it definitely could be in a bad way.”
“The problems were so severe, in fact, that the USGS has already closed the inorganic lab in question permanently,” the Arkansas Republican said. The lab was terminated in January.
...Westerman also highlighted an interview the IG withheld from its report.
“Tell me what you want and I will get it for you. What we do is like magic,” a former USGS official told auditors a former employee linked to the manipulation would say, according to Westerman.
...The research topics that faced data manipulation – including uranium in the environment, health effects of energy resources, and U.S. coal resources and reserves – was “disturbing,” Westerman said..."

Nine Key Takeaways from Brexit

Nine Key Takeaways from Brexit | International Liberty
"What an amazing vote.
The people of the United Kingdom defied the supposed experts, rejected a fear-based campaign by advocates of the status quo, and declared their independence from the European Union.
Here are some takeaway thoughts on this startling development.

  • 1. The UK has voted to leave a sinking ship.

Because of unfavorable demographics and a dirigiste economic model, the European Union has a very grim future.

    Image result for brexit obama
  • 2. Brexit is a vote against centralization, bureaucratization, and harmonization.

It also is a victory for more growth, though the amount of additional long-run growth will depend on whether the UK government seizes the opportunity for lower taxes, less red tape, and a smaller burden of government.

  • 3. President Obama once again fired blanks.

Whether it was his failed attempt early in his presidency to get the Olympic Games in Chicago or his feckless attempt in his final year to get Britons to remain in the EU, Obama has a remarkably dismal track record.
Maybe I can get him to endorse the Boston Red Sox, thus ensuring the Yankees make it to the World Series?..."
