VW, in Settlement, to Build Electric Vehicle Stations | Climate Central
"Volkswagen will build a massive network of electric vehicle charging stations across California as part of a settlement over its diesel emissions scandal.
The California Air Resources Board has voted unanimously to approve the $200 million plan as the first of a number of steps the German automaker has proposed to take to help cut greenhouse gas emissions in California.
In total, the company has agreed to spend $800 million on zero-emissions electric vehicle infrastructure in the state over 10 years.
The plan calls for 2,500 vehicle chargers to be installed at more than 350 stations across California, complementing a nationwide network of charging stations the company is installing in 38 states.
...It intends to use a percentage of the money to create a “green cities” program providing disadvantaged and low-income communities with access to electric vehicles.
...The program will focus on neighborhoods in two cities, Sacramento and another to be named. Volkswagen’s subsidiary, Electrify America, will commit $44 million to Sacramento to build charging stations, provide electric vehicles for ride sharing and other electric vehicle-related projects..."

Life in Pain and the War on Relief – Da Tech Guy Blog

"I am in physical pain every single day of my life and I have been for the entirety of the twenty first century thus far.
Pain keeps me from falling asleep when it is time for bed, wakes me up during the night, and it is what wakes me up completely every single morning.
Image result for the other side of the opioid...There was a time when I took prescription pain medication (opiods) and I was able to be much more productive because intense physical pain also saps a person’s mental and physical energy, and when I hurt less I can do more, but I stopped taking those medications when it became too much of a hassle to get them, what with the “pain contracts” and the drug testing, and the stigma and all.
Getting off pain meds was very unpleasant, but so was the sneering contempt I was subjected to whenever I had to mention that I was taking prescription medication to treat chronic pain or try to find a new doctor who would prescribe them or even just the way I was looked down on at the pharmacy when it was time to get those scripts filled.
It seems these days that medical professionals will subject their patients to just about anything in order to avoid providing actual pain relieving medication to people who are suffering from physical pain...all because of the so-called “opiod crisis” that primarily involves heroin addicts and others who are getting and abusing drugs obtained more often on the street...
What happens when people who are in far more pain than what I have to live with are denied the relief they used to be able to obtain?
Well, they could look elsewhere and get themselves some street drugs, despite the risks of getting bad medicine or getting caught, or they could suffer and lose quality of life (as I have opted to), or they can take the ultimate (and very sad) action to end their never ending pain by taking their own lives..."

This One Photo Perfectly Sums Up Why We Needed Trump's Military Transgender Ban | Lifestyle
"Twitter is going ape over Trump's decision not to let transgendered people serve in the military.
The virtuous left wants to know why — while clutching their pearls and clucking at us.
This one photo sums up the reason better than I ever could.
This is a mental disorder.
People who behave like this need to be in a safe facility somewhere with padded rooms.
This is not the kind of thing we need running around screwing up the military with its outrage and perpetual offense taking.
The military exists to kill people and break things.
It is not a social experiment.
It is a fighting force.
Anything that gets in the way of killing people and breaking things needs to be tossed out. This person needs a doctor who will straighten out her head and help her re-enter civilization where we do not bleed all over ourselves on purpose to shock people.
She needs basic home-training, not basic training.
I'm getting tired of treating our military like some college campus safe space..."

Venezuela Descends Into Dictatorship, But Networks Can’t Be Bothered

Venezuela Descends Into Dictatorship, But Networks Can’t Be Bothered:

Image result for flickr commons images Venezuela Flag"Venezuela’s oppressive, socialist president hopes to seize even more power, yet the broadcast networks continue to largely ignore his country’s violent descent into dictatorship.

With over 100 Venezuelans dead from the rapidly escalating violence between the government and protesters, a special vote will take place on July 30 to give authoritarian president Nicolas Maduro the power to rewrite the Venezuelan Constitution to strip legislative power from the rightfully-elected National Assembly."

Total Government And Personal Debt In The U.S. Has Hit 41 Trillion Dollars ($329,961.34 Per Household)

Total Government And Personal Debt In The U.S. Has Hit 41 Trillion Dollars ($329,961.34 Per Household):
"We are living in the greatest debt bubble in the history of the world.
In 1980, total government and personal debt in the United States was just over the 3 trillion dollar mark, but today it has surpassed 41 trillion dollars.
That means that it has increased by almost 14 times since Ronald Reagan was first elected president.  I am searching for words to describe how completely and utterly insane this is, but I am coming up empty.
We are slowly but surely committing national suicide, and yet most Americans don’t even understand what is happening.
According to 720 Global, total government debt plus total personal debt in the United States was just over 3 trillion dollars in 1980.
That broke down to $38,552 per household, and that figure represented 79 percent of median household income at the time.
Today, total government debt plus total personal debt in the United States has blown past the 41 trillion dollar mark.
When you break that down, it comes to $329,961.34 per household, and that figure represents 584 percent of median household income...
...One of my pet peeves is the national debt.
Image result for f-35 Our politicians spend money in some of the most ridiculous ways imaginable, and yet no matter how much we complain about it nothing ever seems to change.
For example, the U.S. military actually spends 42 million dollars a year on Viagra.
Yes, you read that correctly.
42 million of your tax dollars are being spent on Viagra every year.
And overall spending on “erectile dysfunction medicines” each year comes to a grand total of 84 million dollars

According to data from the Defense Health Agency, DoD actually spent $41.6 million on Viagra — and $84.24 million total on erectile dysfunction prescriptions — last year.
And since 2011, the tab for drugs like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra totals $294 million — the equivalent of nearly four U.S. Air Force F-35 Joint Strike Fighters..."
