Uranium One Deal: Obama Administration Complicit, Not Just | National Review
"Not only the Clintons are implicated in a uranium deal with the Russians that compromised national-security interests.
Let’s put the Uranium One scandal in perspective:
The cool half-million bucks the Putin regime funneled to Bill Clinton was five times the amount it spent on those Facebook ads — the ones the media-Democrat complex ludicrously suggests swung the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump.
The Facebook-ad buy, which started in June 2015 — before Donald Trump entered the race — was more left-wing agitprop (ads pushing hysteria on racism, immigration, guns, etc.) than electioneering. The Clintons’ own long-time political strategist Mark Penn estimates that just $6,500 went to actual electioneering. (You read that right: 65 hundred dollars.)
Image result for obama russia uraniumBy contrast, the staggering $500,000 payday from a Kremlin-tied Russian bank for a single speech was part of a multi-million-dollar influence-peddling scheme to enrich the former president and his wife, then–secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
At the time, Russia was plotting — successfully — to secure U.S. government approval for its acquisition of Uranium One, and with it, tens of billions of dollars in U.S. uranium reserves.
Here’s the kicker:
The Uranium One scandal is not only, or even principally, a Clinton scandal.
It is an Obama-administration scandal.
The Clintons were just doing what the Clintons do: cashing in on their “public service.”
The Obama administration, with Secretary Clinton at the forefront but hardly alone, was knowingly compromising American national-security interests.
The administration green-lighted the transfer of control over one-fifth of American uranium-mining capacity to Russia, a hostile regime — and specifically to Russia’s state-controlled nuclear-energy conglomerate, Rosatom.
Worse, at the time the administration approved the transfer, it knew that Rosatom’s American subsidiary was engaged in a lucrative racketeering enterprise that had already committed felony extortion, fraud, and money-laundering offenses..."

104 YEARS OF FEDERAL INCOME TAX HAS FUELED EXPLOSIVE GROWTH IN GOVERNMENT-by Kevin Ryan
Revenues from the federal income tax have increased an astonishing 340,000% since the program was established by Woodrow Wilson in 1913.
And yes, that's adjusted for inflation!
Originally intended to only apply to the very wealthy, FDR expanded it to the middle class, and it's grown steadily since then.
Today, Americans pay over $2.2 trillion in federal individual and corporate income tax.
$2,206,704,000,000 in 2017
$6,782 per capita in current dollars.
$15,224 per worker

Michigan Closer to More Available Dental Care [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
Image result for dental therapist"The Michigan Senate recently passed Senate Bill 541, which would create a new license for the dental profession, called a dental therapist.
Sen. Mike Shirkey, R-Clarklake, is the lead sponsor of the bill, and it moves to the House for consideration.
The Mackinac Center published a report last year laying out the case for dental therapists, and Michael Van Beek, the Center’s director of research and author of that study, recently published an op-ed in the Oakland Press.
He summed up SB 541 this way:
This bill allows dentists the freedom to expand their practices and gives hygienists an opportunity to further their training and take on more responsibility if they choose to pursue a dental therapist license.
Dentists need more flexibility to better meet patients’ needs and this could be an important part of that effort.
Several other states have used dental therapists or similarly licensed professionals to help meet the needs of their residents — Michigan should simply follow their lead..."

The TSA then moved to administratively upgrade TSOs uniforms to resemble those of a federal law enforcement officer. They further completed the makeover with metal law enforcement badges. Not surprisingly, government bureaucrats at the TSA left out one crucial component during the artificial makeover - actual federal law enforcement training as is required of Federal Air Marshalls.

While TSOs may have the appearance of a federal law enforcement officer they have neither the authority nor the power."

Cleveland State president blasted for backing 1st Amendment in response to anti-LGBT flyer - The College Fix

Cleveland State president blasted for backing 1st Amendment in response to anti-LGBT flyer - The College Fix:
"Officials at Cleveland State University are facing a wave of criticism for its response to a placard urging gay people to commit suicide.
“Follow your fellow fa**ots,” the sign had read, which featured various statistics related to suicide in the LGBT community.
According to Time, the university’s initial reaction was to stick up for the First Amendment, not denounce the hateful message:
“We will continue to protect free speech to ensure all voices may be heard and to promote a civil discourse where educational growth is the desired result,” school president Ronald Berkman said.
Predictably, Berkman’s statement did not go over very well:
The school’s response angered students and provoked protests, petitions, and a tense, crowded town hall meeting where students spoke about LGBT people they knew who took their own lives.
Peter Sherman, a 23-year-old gay Cleveland State theater major, says he participated in the protests and town hall session because he believes the school should ban flyers urging students to kill themselves.
“People are free to believe whatever they want, but free speech doesn’t protect incitements to violence,” Sherman told The Associated Press on Friday.
“Asking people to commit suicide is an incitement to violence.”
...In the meantime, keep your eyes and ears open to news of who was responsible for the flyer. That is, if you can find it.

Former NPR CEO opens up about liberal media bias | New York Post
"Most reporters and editors are liberal — a now dated Pew Research Center poll found that liberals outnumber conservatives in the media by some 5 to 1, and that comports with my own anecdotal experience at National Public Radio.
When you are liberal, and everyone else around you is as well, it is easy to fall into groupthink on what stories are important, what sources are legitimate and what the narrative of the day will be.
This may seem like an unusual admission from someone who once ran NPR, but it is borne of recent experience.
Spurred by a fear that red and blue America were drifting irrevocably apart, I decided to venture out from my overwhelmingly Democratic neighborhood and engage Republicans where they live, work and pray.
For an entire year, I embedded myself with the other side, standing in pit row at a NASCAR race, hanging out at Tea Party meetings and sitting in on Steve Bannon’s radio show.
I found an America far different from the one depicted in the press and imagined by presidents (“cling to guns or religion”) and presidential candidates (“basket of deplorables”) alike.
I spent many Sundays in evangelical churches and hung out with 15,000 evangelical youth at the Urbana conference.
I wasn’t sure what to expect among thousands of college-age evangelicals, but I certainly didn’t expect the intense discussion of racial equity and refugee issues — how to help them, not how to keep them out — but that is what I got..."

A leading brain-training game called “dual n-back” was significantly better in improving memory and attention than a competing “complex span” game, Johns Hopkins University researchers found in a recent experiment.*
These results, published Monday Oct. 16, 2017 in an open-access paper in the Journal of Cognitive Enhancement, suggest it’s possible to train the brain like other body parts — with targeted workouts to improve the cognitive skills needed when tasks are new and you can’t just rely on old knowledge and habits, says co-author Susan Courtney, a Johns Hopkins neuroscientist and professor of psychological and brain sciences.

Did John McCain Provide The Infamous 'Trump Dossier' To BuzzFeed? | Zero Hedge
"After nearly a year of cogitating, no one in the media, usually a fairly leaky institution, has been able to figure out who exactly who provided the infamous "Trump Dossier" to BuzzFeed which was published on January 10, 2017 and promptly debunked within approximately 35 seconds.
As the Daily Caller points out today, less than a handful of people had access to the dossier before it made its way to BuzzFeed:
McCainJohn McCain, David Kramer (a former State Department official and an associate of McCain), then FBI Director James Comey and Fusion GPS (the creator of the document).  Fusion GPS has since admitted under oath that they did not share the document with BuzzFeed which basically just leaves John McCain (and/or his associate) or James Comey.
Asked about the dossier recently, an irritable, and perhaps defensive, McCain lashed out at a Daily Caller reporter (seemingly a new trend for McCain of late) saying only "I don’t know why you’re digging this up now."...
...Of course, the identity of BuzzFeed’s source is significant for two reasons.

  • First, because a Russian tech executive, Aleksej Gubarev, was accused in the document of hacking into DNC computers to dig up dirt on Hillary during the 2016 campaign.
  • And second, but certainly not least, because it could shed light on whether someone in Trump's own party or, and perhaps even more disturbing, within the FBI ordered a "political hit" on the newly elected - if wildly unpopular (at least on the DC circuit) - president..."

Presumably, the media outlet you like the best is the one you consider most reliable and informative, but even pitting a Trump supporter’s top pick of all of the media outlets against the president, the president wins. . . .
This poll was released on the heels of another survey that adds still more context to the question of media trust.
A Politico-Morning Consult survey conducted online found that nearly half of Americans, a plurality, thinks that the media makes up stories about the president out of whole cloth.”

Paglia: The Dumbing Down of America Began in Public Schools | Intellectual Takeout
"In the last several years, Americans have been sensing that something is seriously wrong with the current crop of young people.
True, they are likely to have the most education credentials any generation has ever received.
They also are technically-savvy, and as such, have a wealth of knowledge at their fingertips.
But in spite of these factors, today’s students seem to exhibit a character that is high in sensitivity and low in knowledge.
What gives?
Why are our students turning out like this?
Camille Paglia recently revealed the answer to that question.
Paglia, a long-time Democrat, feminist, and college professor, believes the problem started in the earliest stages of education in the nation’s public schools:
“It’s really started at the level of public school education. I’ve been teaching now for 46 years as a classroom teacher, and I have felt the slow devolution of the quality of public school education in the classroom...”

Millions live and die in pain due to morphine stigma - SciDev.Net
[MANILA] A new, comprehensive study brings focus to the plight of millions of patients, especially in the developing world, who are condemned to live and die in pain for lack of access to palliative care.
In a comprehensive report on palliative care and pain relief published 13 October in The Lancet, the study says that each year, some 26 million people, including over 2.5 million children, suffer pain which could have been addressed with off-patent, low-cost morphine.
Image result for palliative careThe report says that of the 298.50 tonnes of oral morphine distributed worldwide, only 10.8 tonnes (3.6 per cent) reach the low- and middle-income countries, creating a “pain gap”.
Of the 172 countries studied, 25 had almost no morphine and about 100 countries are only able to meet the needs for standard pain relief of a quarter of their population.
Lukas Rudbruch, chair of the Palliative Medicine at the University of Bonn and senior co-author of the report, explains to SciDev.Net that there are serious misunderstandings about the nature of palliative care, including stigma attached to pain-relieving drugs.
This, he says, is especially so for morphine (derived from opium) which makes regulators and health professionals uneasy.
Former Philippine health secretary Manuel Dayrit explains that in countries like the Philippines, morphine is classified as a ‘dangerous drug’, with supply and transport highly regulated.
Only physicians with special permits can prescribe them.
“The question is how to strike a balance between dangerous drugs and access for palliative care purposes,” Dayrit says..."
