LIBERTY REVIEW

LIBERTY REVIEW:

Corkscrew Loop

It doesn't take long to realize why life is compared to a roller coaster. Life is full of incredible highs and stomach dropping lows. The highs can be fabulous and of course, you never want them to end. The lows can be depressing and exhausting and they never seem to end soon enough.

Image result for flickr commons images Michigan Adventure Corkscrew
I think it's a pretty common goal to want to keep life as calm as possible. Life isn't perfect or without challenges. As you grow and your experience increases, you graduate to more challenging coaster rides. The next thing you know, you are belted in and hanging on for dear life. You learn how to handle many of life's ups and downs. You try to increase the highs but you also learn to enjoy them while they last. You do your best to avoid what could bring on the lows and unpleasant times in life but you also learn ways to minimize the possible damage.

Everyone has a different experience. No two roller coasters are alike because every life is unique. Each person has their own, custom made ups, downs, twists and turns. The choices we make certainly play a part in the type of ride we will experience, but so does the unexpected. You can plan and do your best to make the best possible decisions, but that doesn't prevent outside forces from throwing you for the corkscrew loop.......

Taxing More Earnings Won’t Fix Social Security’s Finances | Economics21

Taxing More Earnings Won’t Fix Social Security’s Finances | Economics21
"...The purpose of this piece is instead narrowly informational: to explain why increasing (even eliminating) the cap wouldn’t accomplish nearly as much financial improvement as many people believe.
Background: The 12.4% Social Security payroll tax is assessed on worker earnings up to an annual limit currently set at $127,200

See the source image The cap is statutorily indexed to grow (with rare exceptions) with growth in the national Average Wage Index (AWI)
A worker’s eventual benefits are based in large part on his/her career earnings subject to payroll taxation.
The reason the cap exists is rooted in Social Security’s historical design as a contributory insurance program rather than a welfare program.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt and other program founders wanted to ensure that Social Security covered and would have wide support from Americans rich and poor.
As a result, workers at all income levels pay into Social Security, and workers at all income levels earn benefits as they do so.
Past a certain point, higher-income people don’t need extra benefits, so both their contributions and benefits stop.
...In any event, a tax cap increase by itself does very little to fix Social Security’s financing problem.

...It just wouldn’t do much to mitigate the other tough choices required to balance Social Security finances..."

NFL Ticket Prices Tumbling to Less than $15 as Anthem Protests Continue

NFL Ticket Prices Tumbling to Less than $15 as Anthem Protests Continue
It has gotten increasingly hard for average Americans to afford to take their families out to sporting events, because the costs are so high. But as the NFL continues to lose fans, TV ratings, and moral authority, ticket prices have also crashed to unheard of lows.
Recently National Journal editor Josh Kraushaar pointed out that tickets for this Thursday’s Redskins game fell to an amazing low of $10 a piece on the secondary market at Stub Hub.
Good grief: lower bowl tickets for Thursday night's Redskins game are going for less than 10 dollars on StubHub.
Clearly, people can’t give NFL tickets away.
However, this is a primetime game on Thanksgiving and those prices are at near give-away levels.
Of course, another problem with the NFL (and other sporting events) is all the costs that go with the ticket price are simply spiraling out of the average American’s price range.
For instance, a website recently looked into the costs of a ticket, a beer or soft drink, a hot dog, and parking for the NFL and found that costs quickly raced past $190 a person at its cheapest.
Worse, costs hit an incredible $350 a person at the nation’s most expensive NFL stadium. Even at its cheapest that could make a visit to the stadium cost a family of four $760 for one outing..."

EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of Gloria Allred's Attack on Roy Moore Has Been Debunked - ARREST HER NOW!:
"Last Monday far left attorney Gloria Allred held a press conference with Beverly Nelson in New York City.
Allred and Nelson accused Republican Roy Moore of attempted rape 38 years ago.

We now know that EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of their public accusation was a LIE.
Republican Judge Roy Moore released testimony Monday night that proves far left Attorney Gloria Allred, accuser Beverly Nelson and the national media were lying about the allegations against Judge Roy Moore.
The Moore campaign published a report on Monday that shows the accusers, Gloria Allred and Beverly Nelson, were not telling the truth on the accusations against Judge Moore.
Gloria Allred was lying and so was the national media.
From the report:
1.) The Olde Hickory House required employees to be at least 16. Beverly Nelson claims she was 15 when she started.
2.) The restaurant’s dumpsters were on the side of the building and not in back as Nelson claimed.
3.) A former employee says the restaurant NEVER closed at 11 PM as Nelson claimed and at midnight on most nights.
4.) Customers at the counter were served by the bartender or cook and not by any waitress.
5.) The witnesses claim they have shared this information with several news outlets but they have refused to report the truth!..."

Fracking Has Cut More CO2 Emissions Than All Renewable Energy Combined

Fracking Has Cut More CO2 Emissions Than All Renewable Energy Combined:
See the source image"Hydraulic fracturing has done more to cut U.S. carbon dioxide emissions in the last decade than all renewable energy sources and nuclear power combined, according to data from the Energy Department’s statistical arm.
The shift from coal to natural gas alone cut CO2 emissions more than 2 billion metric tons in the last decade, which is about 72 percent more than emissions reduced through increased “non-fossil generation.”
“Between 2005 and 2016, CO2 emissions declined by a cumulative 3,176 [million metric tons] as a result of these two factors,” the Energy Information Administration notes in a new report on U.S. emissions.
Utilities have been investing more in power plants, and converting many coal-fired plants, to burn natural gas in recent years, spurred by the massive increase in shale gas production..."

Al Franken's astonishing pardon -- from a feminist, no less - Washington Times:
Image result for flickr commons images Al Fraken"Kate Harding, a feminist writer who’s penned the book “Nasty Women: Feminism, Resistance and Revolution in Trump’s America,” has said that Sen. Al Franken should do penance for his sexual assault — you know, the one captured in part on camera — but not resign from political office.
Harding’s logic?
He’s a Democrat and his political voice is needed in Washington, D.C., she wrote in an opinion piece for the Washington Post.
This would seem a rather astonishing view for a supposed feminist to take.
But there it is."

"This is my beef with our broken education system in this country.
Maybe it’s not broken… maybe it’s working as designed….
Maybe it’s not an education system, but an indoctrination system….and institution if you will…
We are all under duress and being held back and forced into swim lanes that; quite frankly, we weren’t wired to do….
How many Teslas and Edisons and Einsteins have been snuffed out due to our cookie cutter automaton assembly line?

Junkyard dog- My Leftist friends (as well as many ardent #NeverTrumpers) constantly ask me if I’m not bothered by Donald Trump’s lack of decorum.

Junkyard dog- A very Interesting Read to give...:
"Marshall Kamena is a registered democrat and was elected mayor of Livermore, CA..
He ran on the democratic ticket as he knew a Bay Area city would never vote for a republican.
He is as conservative as they come.
He wrote the following:
Trump’s lack of decorum, dignity, and statesmanship
My Leftist friends (as well as many ardent #NeverTrumpers) constantly ask me if I’m not bothered by Donald Trump’s lack of decorum.
They ask if I don’t think his tweets are “beneath the dignity of the office.”
Here’s my answer:

  • We Right-thinking people have tried dignity. There could not have been a man of more quiet dignity than George W. Bush as he suffered the outrageous lies and politically motivated hatreds that undermined his presidency.
  • We tried statesmanship. Could there be another human being on this earth who so desperately prized “collegiality” as John McCain?
  • We tried propriety – has there been a nicer human being ever than Mitt Romney?

See the source imageAnd the results were always the same.
This is because, while we were playing by the rules of dignity, collegiality and propriety, the Left has been, for the past 60 years, engaged in a knife fight where the only rules are those of Saul Alinsky and the Chicago mob.

  • I don’t find anything “dignified,” “collegial” or “proper” about Barack Obama’s lying about what went down on the streets of Ferguson in order to ramp up racial hatreds because racial hatreds serve the Democratic Party.
  • I don’t see anything “dignified” in lying about the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi and imprisoning an innocent filmmaker to cover your tracks.
  • I don’t see anything “statesman-like” in weaponizing the IRS to be used to destroy your political opponents and any dissent.

Yes, Obama was “articulate” and “polished” but in no way was he in the least bit “dignified,” “collegial” or “proper.”...

"National radio host Buck Sexton called-out liberal pundits who are “suddenly” acknowledging Bill Clinton’s decades-long history of sexual abuse, warning conservatives that the Democrat Party is rapidly weaponizing accusations of sexual misconduct and are prepared to use it.

“The Al Franken thing, it’s just lot of the same things getting recycled right now. Here’s the only important takeaway… "

She Said A Powerful Congressman Harassed Her. Here’s Why You Didn’t Hear Her Story.
“When you make private settlements, it doesn’t warn the next woman or the next person going into that situation.”
Image result for Rep. John Conyers,Michigan Rep. John Conyers, a Democrat and the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives, settled a wrongful dismissal complaint in 2015 with a former employee who alleged she was fired because she would not “succumb to [his] sexual advances.”
Documents from the complaint obtained by BuzzFeed News include four signed affidavits, three of which are notarized, from former staff members who allege that Conyers, the ranking Democrat on the powerful House Judiciary Committee, repeatedly made sexual advances to female staff that included

  • requests for sex acts,
  • contacting and transporting other women with whom they believed Conyers was having affairs,
  • caressing their hands sexually, and
  • rubbing their legs and backs in public.

Four people involved with the case verified the documents are authentic.
And the documents also reveal the secret mechanism by which Congress has kept an unknown number of sexual harassment allegations secret: a grinding, closely held process that left the alleged victim feeling, she told BuzzFeed News, that she had no option other than to stay quiet and accept a settlement offered to her.
“I was basically blackballed. There was nowhere I could go,” she said in a phone interview. BuzzFeed News is withholding the woman’s name at her request because she said she fears retribution..."
