"...Last fall, some Michigan sheriffs began calling for a new tax on nonmotorized watercraft like kayaks, canoes and paddleboards.
They say that requiring Michiganders to register these boats will generate needed revenue.
Although both the House and Senate have passed resolutions opposing the “kayak tax,” some proponents of the tax haven’t given up on getting it passed.
Detroit News columnist Daniel Howes describes how to overcome this apparent defeat by using a different tack: “the tax-the-paddlers crowd might have a more compelling argument if the proceeds from the registration fees were earmarked for safety training.”
...Attempting to recast this naked cash grab as a public health and safety measure is misguided.
If there really is a problem with funding Michigan’s water-related infrastructure or first-response teams, it certainly won’t be resolved by creating a new and totally unprecedented tax on the more than 600,000 people just trying to enjoy Michigan’s great outdoors..."

It is indeed true that things aren't like they were "when we were kids," but that's a good thing. 
There were far more homicides in the United States during the 1980s and 1990s than there are today. 
Things were even worse than that during the 1970s. 
In fact, the homicide rate in the US was cut in half between 1991 and 2014. 
And while the homicide rate has inched up over the past two years, it is nowhere near where it was "when we were kids." 

For anyone familiar with these trends, it should not be a shock to hear that a subset of those homicides — school shootings — have decreased over that period as well. 

In response to the latest shooting in Florida, Northeastern University released a preview of new research by James Alan Fox slated for publication this fall which shows, quite clearly, that there is no growing trend in school shootings. 
The university notes: 

...Their research also finds that shooting incidents involving students have been declining since the 1990s. Four times the number of children were killed in schools in the early 1990s than today, Fox said.  “There is not an epidemic of school shootings,” he said, adding that more kids are killed each year from pool drownings or bicycle accidents. There are around 55 million school children in the United States, and on average over the past 25 years, about 10 students per year were killed by gunfire at school, according to Fox and Fridel’s research...

New Bus Company Launching in SoCal Offers $3 Fares From L.A. to Las Vegas | KTLA
"A German bus carrier is setting up shop in Southern California, and hoping to make a splash with steeply discounted ticket prices and high-tech amenities.

FlixBus, which has operated in Europe since 2013, will begin service from 15 cities across Southern California on May 31.

For a limited time, travelers can snag fares to Las Vegas for as low as $3, plus a $2 service fee. 

FlixBus' website is currently showing the $3 Las Vegas fare on select dates throughout June, but the company says the price will eventually rise. 

Fares to other popular destinations including Palm Springs, Riverside and San Diego are as low as $10. 

The carrier says it will ultimately have 180 routes linking the southwest U.S. ..."

Multiple media pundits, including the Washington Post‘s Jennifer Rubin,defended MS-13 gang members against Trump’s “animals” remark, calling the statement “disgusting” and attacking Evangelical Trump supporters. Similarly, NBC, ABC, the NY Times and a host of others repeated the lie. Only the Associated Press was forced to apologize for falsely claiming that Trump was referring to illegal aliens when he made the “animals” remark.

So why not show just a small sample of what these savages do to Americans and... keep in mind, many are in this country Illegally while they're doing this!
