"I don’t know what to make of the mail bombs delivered this week. 
As of deadline for Week in Pictures (early Friday afternoon), there’s a suspect in custody, likely a wacko.
A deranged Trump fan? 
The bombs-that-weren’t-bombs (apparently—reports still conflict about this) were so obviously amateurish that it is hard to rule out the possibility that it is the product of a prankster who just wanted to see how crazy he could make everybody.
These bombs were to explosive intimidation what the Vatican’s Swiss guard uniforms are to martial intimidation.
(I have always figured the Swiss guards in Rome operate on the theory that any would-be infiltrators would double over in laughter first.)
 Meanwhile, we have some advance intelligence on next week’s bombs:

That was the date of the first World Trade Center attack, the precursor to 9/11 carried out by a cell of Middle Eastern jihadists.
Key members of that cell were illegal aliens.
Mahmud Abouhalima was an Egyptian illegal alien working as a cab driver in New York.
He falsely claimed to be an agricultural worker under the 1986 illegal alien amnesty law and snagged a green card that allowed him to travel back and forth to Pakistan for al Qaeda training.
...The mastermind of the 1993 plot and of another foiled plot to bomb New York landmarks, Sheik Abdul Rahman, won asylum here based on a fraudulent claim and was allowed to remain thanks to a deadly combination of immigration and intelligence lapses.
...Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution states clearly: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.”
We are not a boarding house for the world. 
We are a sovereign nation. 
It’s time we started acting like one."

MAGAnomic Release: Third Quarter GDP Growth 3.5% – Exceeds Preliminary Expectations – Inflation 1.6%, Wage Growth 3.8%… | The Last Refuge:

The Commerce Department, Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), has released the first estimate of the third quarter GDP growth for June, July and August 2018 (full pdf below).  The rate of economic growth in Q3 is estimated at 3.5%, exceeding most forecasts of slightly more than three percent.  The second quarter growth was 4.2%.
“Defying ‘conventional wisdom’ once again, 3.5 percent growth is the latest sign that the Trump economy continues to surge,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “The President’s actions from deregulation to tax reform have supercharged the American economy, driving it to new heights.”

"Every big U.S. election is interesting, but the coming midterms are fascinating for a reason most commentators forget to mention:
The Democrats have no issues.

• The economy is booming and America’s international position is strong.
• In foreign affairs, the U.S. has remembered in the nick of time what Machiavelli advised princes five centuries ago: Don’t seek to be loved, seek to be feared.

...For now, though, the left’s only issue is “We hate Trump.”
This is an instructive hatred, because what the left hates about Donald Trump is precisely what it hates about America.
...Not that every leftist hates America. 
But the leftists I know do hate Mr. Trump’s

• vulgarity, 
• his unwillingness to walk away from a fight, 
• his bluntness, 
• his certainty that America is exceptional, 
• his mistrust of intellectuals, 
• his love of simple ideas that work, and
• his refusal to believe that men and women are interchangeable. 
• Worst of all, he has no ideology except getting the job done. 
• His goals are to do the task before him, 
• not be pushed around, and otherwise to enjoy life. 

In short, he is a typical American—except exaggerated, because he has no constraints to cramp his style except the ones he himself invents.

...my job as a voter is to choose the candidate who will do best for America. 
...The difference between citizens who hate Mr. Trump and those who can live with him—whether they love or merely tolerate him—comes down to their views of the typical American: the farmer, factory hand, auto mechanic, machinist, teamster, shop owner, clerk, software engineer, infantryman, truck driver, housewife. 
The leftist intellectuals I know say they dislike such people insofar as they tend to be conservative Republicans.

...The Sixteen Thirty Fund — a liberal nonprofit from Washington, D.C., that  is not required to disclose its own donors — contributed $5.5 million to the Michigan ballot campaign in early October. It supports "clean energy and climate solutions," according to the Great Nonprofits website, and is overseen by Eric Kessler, a former Clinton administration environmental policy staffer.
...The fund also was behind Demand Justice, which unsuccessfully battled to block the nomination of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, according to Politico.
