(a)Classes of aliens ineligible for visas or admission Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, aliens who are inadmissible under the following paragraphs are ineligible to receive visas and ineligible to be admitted to the United States:

...(2)Criminal and related grounds

(A)Conviction of certain crimes

(i)In general Except as provided in clause (ii), any alien convicted of, or who admits having committed, or who admits committing acts which constitute the essential elements of—

(I)

a crime involving moral turpitude (other than a purely political offense) or an attempt or conspiracy to commit such a crime, or

(II)

a violation of (or a conspiracy or attempt to violate) any law or regulation of a State, the United States, or a foreign country relating to a controlled substance (as defined in section 802 of title 21)...

 is inadmissible.

(B)Multiple criminal convictions

Any alien convicted of 2 or more offenses (other than purely political offenses), regardless of whether the conviction was in a single trial or whether the offenses arose from a single scheme of misconduct and regardless of whether the offenses involved moral turpitude, for which the aggregate sentences to confinement were 5 years or more is inadmissible...

We’d been wine tasting all afternoon and had rounded off the day with a few cocktails to boot. Feeling a bit loosened up, my brother and I, as is our habit, slipped into a familiar topic of conversation—the war in Afghanistan.
You see, both Drew and I are U.S. military veterans. 
And, naturally, we get to talking about our wartime experiences whenever we’re together. 
Often a bit too loudly, as Lilya and Gabrielle gently suggested on that night in Geyserville.
In any case, as we wrapped up dinner and asked for the check, the waitress informed us that someone had already paid our bill. 
We asked who this person was, but he or she had already left, the waitress explained.
“They asked me to tell you, ‘Thank you for your service,’” she said.
My brother and I were speechless. 
It is, after all, all too easy to assume the country has moved on and forgotten about our wars when so many of the things that divide us seem to occupy so much of the news.
On the walk back to the hotel that night, my wife, who is Ukrainian, told me, “I’m so shocked and impressed. I’ve never seen such a kind gesture by a stranger. It was magnificent.”
I was moved by the gesture, too. But it wasn’t the first time someone in America had bought me a drink for being a veteran. 
What I didn’t immediately understand is that from my wife’s point of view, it was a singularly unprecedented, characteristically American, display of gratitude..."

How to advise your friends and family on how to analyze Michigan's 3 statewide Proposals.

Very important point: 

These proposals will change our Michigan Constitution. 

If approved, they can only be changed by a 75% vote of the Michigan state house AND senate. Or another statewide proposal to repeal. 

Prop 1.    18-1---A proposed initiated law to authorize and legalize possession, use and cultivation       of   marijuana products by individuals who are at least 21 years of age and older, and

         commercial sales of marijuana through state-licensed retailers

·       The 2 major benefits offered by proponents have been proven to be false. "The proposal… 1)Will reduce the arrests and imprisonment for marijuana related crimes. 2) Will generate additional tax revenue for the state/schools/roads etc."

A. The Colorado experience refutes these promises. Arrests and penalties have dramatically increased. There were few arrests before the new law but violations such as tax evasion, allowing minor's use, illegal storage, transportation, etc. are skyrocketing. And an ever-growing list of new laws/regulations have been a boon to lawyers and those who love gigantic, metastasizing government. State, county and local.

B. While tax revenue has risen, it is outpaced by the rapid expansion of government programs to combat and educate those who are using and abusing the drug. The promise of net additional money is a lie.

Would you vote for this proposal if you knew the promises were fake?

Vote "No"!

   Prop 2.   18-2--- A proposed constitutional amendment to establish a commission of citizens with        exclusive authority to adopt district boundaries for the Michigan Senate, Michigan House of      Representatives and U.S. Congress, every 10 years

·       Given the enormous cost of winning an election and the financial clout of most elective offices, these "randomly selected" 13 will have so much power they will be subject to criminal bribery and/or threats.

Guaranteed.

There is too much money and power at stake.

A "randomly selected" group with no experience will have total power to redistrict our entire state?

This is an invitation for criminals and vote stealers.

Imagine the political mafia dealing with naive, average folks.

Imagine the threats to those "picked" who have expressed politically incorrect views.

Imagine promises of "jobs" for family members.

Imagine "financial incentives" that just might crop us if the commission simply moved a district line by a few blocks?

Our current system empowers Michigan voters to elect those who will redistrict. This scheme takes voters out of the equation.

Prop 3.   18-3---A proposal to authorize automatic and Election Day voter registration, no-reason absentee voting, and straight ticket voting; and add current legal requirements for military and overseas voting and post-election audits to the Michigan Constitution

·       Many facets to this proposal but voter registration with "proof of residency" instead of "proof of citizenship" disenfranchises all legally registered voters. 

      We won't know. 
      It invites massive vote fraud.

And this proposal encourages the totally new registration and voting on Election Day itself! With no time to confirm the "residency".

Typically, "proof of residency" can require only a copy of a utility bill. In anyone's name. Not necessarily in the name of the person attempting to register to vote.

What could possibly go wrong?

No citizenship will be required to vote in Michigan. Ever!

Do you want non-citizens voting on the laws you must live by?

Do you want a system that encourages "ghost voters" to stuff your ballot boxes?

Arguably, the most damaging proposal ever to be voted on by Michigan citizens.
