I was saddened and completely discouraged upon... - Michelle Slikkers

"I was saddened and completely discouraged upon reading a newspaper report that a black woman found a noose hanging above her workstation at a local company. How could such horrible people still exist in our society and why would they so blatantly seek to frighten another human being in a throwback to one of the worst periods in American history? While doing some reading earlier today, I came across another side of the story. While I’m sure the case is being thoroughly investigated by said company, I thought I’d share this with you because of the importance of making sure all sides are heard and because I tire of the victim mentality that seems to thrive in our society. I’ve redacted the writer’s name because I don’t know the parties personally.
“Hi, I'm ___________ and I work for Request Foods.
This wasn't even about her.

  • The people who did it aren't even aware of America's past with black people and nooses, they were throwing pens through it because they were bored.
  • This is not the first time she's made a big deal out of nothing and claimed it to be about race.

No one here even had any issues with her lol the only problems she has had are with the supervisors and bosses for texting instead of working.
Okay but I work with her and this happened less than 24 hours ago and the people who put it up don't even know she exists and are from a different shift. I literally just got pulled into the office about it. The people who made it are Hispanic people who had to be explained what a noose even was.

  • Less than two months ago she almost quit because we work with food and a quality control BOSS wrote her up for being on her phone and letting food fly off the belt for over 5 minutes and she went around telling everyone she didnt feel safe here and people were out to get her.
Oh and it wasnt above her spot. We all rotate and the line gets moved around depending on what product we run and where it was hung didnt have a spot last night on either product that we ran.
And for the biggest thing if no one knows, this object was no bigger than maybe a bracelet, someone would have trouble putting their fore arm through it, let alone their head or neck.

  • She says that she was so upset that she stayed in her car on break, but she does that every single day. She has sat in the breakroom on breaks one time (maybe 2) in the past year.
I was one of the people who found it, along with an operator and the lady in the article. She makes it sound like it was in attack to her but it was all blown out of proportion. I hope she got her 15 minutes of fame and interrupted progress in a real cause just to get attention.”

US on verge of producing all the oil, gas it needs:

The latest Global Production Report from the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers said that North America is producing 83 percent of the oil it needs even at a time when all markets are experiencing greater demand.

In Paris, the worst riots in a generation | Power Line
"Last week, after the second consecutive weekend of mass protests throughout France, I offered ten observations about these protests.
This weekend saw more protest, with a significant and troubling turn towards violence.
See the source imageAs one of my sources in Paris puts it:
The first two weekends were marked by some conflict between the police and smallish groups of hoodlums who integrated themselves into the demonstrations, but were fairly classic for France. Yesterday was different.
The demonstrations in central Paris were by far the most violent in a generation. While many demonstrations in Paris see a certain amount of vandalism, yesterday the city witnessed something entirely different. The tourist/commercial center of city was targeted...
Police estimate the number of these hoodlums in the low thousands – 3000 is a number I’ve heard several times. Many came into the city from the suburbs; they began fights with the police and massive vandalism in the mid-morning, and were finally more-or-less suppressed around 10:30 last night..."

7 Pieces of Fake News About the Latest U.S. Climate Report | Breitbart

7 Pieces of Fake News About the Latest U.S. Climate Report | Breitbart
"Bjorn Lomborg is an environmentalist who believes in Climate Change.
But he is not an alarmist.
Because of that, he is one of the few worth taking seriously.
...After the release the government’s latest climate assessment report last week, and as we have come to expect, almost all of the establishment media used it to fire hose us with fake news.
In response, Lomborg published a must-read piece at the New York Post debunking the misleading coverage.
Here are the 7 ways the media misled you about the report:
  1. Climate scientist Michael Mann appeared on CNN and NPR talking about “unprecedented weather extremes.” The only problem with that is that, according to the report itself, we are not experiencing “unprecedented weather extremes.” Lomborg writes…
Actually, the assessment, and science, tell a different story. “Drought statistics over the entire contiguous US have declined,” the report finds, reminding us that “the Dust Bowl era of the 1930s remains the benchmark drought and extreme heat event.”

6 more pieces of junk science debunked.

Revealed: Mueller's FBI Repeatedly Abused Prosecutorial Discretion:

Image result for flickr commons images robert muellerJournalist Mike Allen of Axios recently said that one word described Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and that word was “unafraid.”
The context for his remarks on Fox News’ “Special Report” was that Mueller had just spun off to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York a bit of his limitless investigation into President Donald J. Trump. Allen’s comment was like so many others from media and pundit types since the special counsel was launched. If there’s one word to describe the media’s relationship to Mueller, it’s “unquestioning.”

GOP chairmen, who are about to lose power in the new Congress in January, are trying to bring Mr. Comey to Capitol Hill to explain his decisions related to the 2016 election, particularly investigations into Hillary Clinton’s use of her personal email and the probe into Russian activities during the campaign.

Trump’s $5B Border Wall Request Equals 0.11% of Federal Spending:

Image result for flickr commons images Piles of moneyTo put the president’s border wall request in perspective, the federal government spent $5.587 billion in the month of October alone for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, AKA food stamps. Thus, funding food stamps for just the first month of fiscal 2019 cost more than Trump’s entire fiscal 2019 request for border wall funding.

My Puzzlement Over Climate Change Damage Estimates in New National Climate Assessment - Hit & Run : Reason.com

My Puzzlement Over Climate Change Damage Estimates in New National Climate Assessment - Hit & Run : Reason.com
"Implausible worst-case scenarios do not further the debate over reasonable policies for addressing climate change.
"Mass deaths and mayhem: National Climate Assessment's most shocking warnings," blares the headline at CBS News.

The story, which discusses the government's Fourth National Climate Assessment (NCA4), says that the document predicts "an estimated loss of up to 10 percent gross domestic product by 2100."
This same estimate was cited by many other news outlets.
For example, the first paragraph of The New York Timesarticle on the NCA4 says that "if significant steps are not taken to rein in global warming, the damage will knock as much as 10 percent off the size of the American economy by century's end."
Puzzled by this reporting, I did a rough calculation in my initial reporting on the NCA4.
Today's $20 trillion GDP, growing at a 3 percent rate, would rise to $226 trillion by 2100.
With climate change, it would instead rise to only $203 trillion.
Americans living at the end of this century would be about 10 times richer on average than we are now, albeit in a much warmer world.
So where did those estimates come from?
Basically from a worst-case scenario of temperature increase called in climate-speak Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 (RCP 8.5). RCPs are four different greenhouse gas concentration trajectories used by climate modelers and adopted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for its fifth Assessment Report in 2014. imate change..."

Al Sharpton sells life story to his own charity for $531K

Al Sharpton sells life story to his own charity for $531K
"The Rev. Al Sharpton has found an eager buyer for the rights to his life story — his own charity.
The National Action Network agreed to pay the activist preacher $531,000 for his “life story rights for a 10-year period,” according to the non-profit’s latest tax filing, which was obtained by The Post.
See the source imageNAN can apparently turn around and sell those rights to Hollywood or other takers at a profit, but neither the reverend nor the charity would identify what producers are waiting for such Sharpton content.
The document does not indicate when Sharpton, who is president of NAN, gets the cash, which is above and beyond the $244,661 he already pulled down in compensation from the group in 2017.
Sharpton also wouldn’t say when the cash would come in.
"What does that have to do with anything?” he said..."
