California Is About To Force All Public Venues To Sell Vegan Food
California Is About To Force All Public Venues To Sell Vegan Food
"The Los Angeles City Council is considering legislation that would force public venues to sell vegan food.
Why?
Well, because climate change of course!
From The Daily Wire:
According to Laist, L.A. City Councilman Paul Koretz introduced a motion on Tuesday that would mandate vegan options be made available in various public spaces, such as large-scale entertainment venues, airport terminals, sports stadiums, and movie theaters.
Though L.A. World Airports, which operates LAX, currently has one vegan restaurant, “Real Food Daily,” the law could force every terminal to install at least one “vegan protein entree food option,” depending on the feasibility.
Councilman Paul Koretz told reporters that inspiration for the law stemmed from the rising number of vegans in Los Angeles and, of course, climate change.
“We only have a few years to dramatically drop our greenhouse gas production and production of beef items, especially, generates so much methane. Without reducing our beef consumption, it’s going to be very difficult for us to reduce climate change,” he said..."

VIDEO: Students oppose Clarence Thomas building… but don’t know why
- Students at Savannah College of Arts and Design started a petition to remove Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' name from a campus building.
- Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips traveled to the Georgia campus to ask students why Thomas' name should be removed but many couldn't give an answer.
Students at the Savannah College Of Art And Design in Georgia started a petition in October to remove the name of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas from a building on campus.
Citing their belief that Thomas is “anti-woman” and doesn’t represent the values of the college, the petition garnered over 2,000 signatures from angry students and members of the community.
“I don’t know I haven’t done much research on this. I just saw the petition and that’s the extent of it." Tweet This
But do the people who support removing Thomas’ name understand why they’re ...

"In Hamtramck, the poorest town in Michigan, about half of the population lives below the poverty line.
Hamtramck is also the only town in the state where most households earn less than $25,000 a year. Due to low incomes in the area, a relatively large share of residents rely on government assistance to afford food.
Some 44.0% of area households receive SNAP benefits, the largest share of any town in the state and more than double the comparable 15.9% recipiency rate across Michigan."

How Fracking Turned OPEC Into The Walking Dead | Investor's Business Daily
"OPEC: The river of oil now hitting the market from U.S. fracking has stunned global energy markets.
For the first time since World War II, the U.S. is on the verge of being a net oil exporter — something that, just five years ago, would have been considered impossible.
This, of course, has caught the 28-nation Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries by surprise. Even just a few years ago, the consensus was that fracking and its related technologies would add a decent amount of oil to the market, but nothing like what's happening now..."

- The U.S. has already leapfrogged both Russia and Saudi Arabia as the No. 1 producer.

David Hogg Pushes Federal Tax on Guns and Bullets
David Hogg Pushes Federal Tax on Guns and Bullets:
In other words, he wants to tax a constitutional, God-given right–thereby raising gun prices for law-abiding citizens–in order to pay for research into the ways criminals misuse guns.
The NRA-ILA reports that Hogg’s idea is at least 100 years old, as it was pushed via the the Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax in 1917. The difference? That tax was pushed, and implemented, as a way to fund pro-hunting causes, not anti-Second Amendment campaigns.

We’ve become addicted to the income stagnation story. It’s probably not true. - The Washington Post
"We in the media have a problem.
Actually, it’s a big problem for all Americans.
We have become addicted to the notion that, except for the top 1 percent or the top 10 percent, the incomes of most Americans have stagnated for decades.
The problem is that, at best, this is an exaggeration and, at worst, an untruth.
A few weeks back, I wrote about a new study from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
It convinced me that, though typical incomes are rising slowly, they are still rising, and that, over long periods, the increases are significant.
To cite one statistic from that column: Average inflation-adjusted household incomes for the middle fifth of Americans (by income) rose from $56,400 in 2000 to $64,700 in 2015.
That’s a 15 percent gain.
What I didn’t know then was that the Urban Institute, a well-known economic and social policy think tank, was finishing a complementary report by economist Stephen J. Rose.
The report, now available, compares various income estimates and reaches a similar conclusion: Most Americans have realized small annual increases that ultimately cumulated into meaningful gains.
...The problem is to replace the simplistic conventional wisdom with this messy reality.
It will be tough, because the status quo is more politically appealing.
The story line is pointed: “The ultra-rich are destroying the middle class.”
...A new study by Piketty, Saez and economist Gabriel Zucman qualifies this result.
When the effect of taxes and many transfers were included, the top 10 percent didn’t capture all the gains.
The median income jumped 33 percent from 1979 to 2014..."

Facebook Cripples Community Organizing With Overzealous Attempts to Stop Russian Trolls: Reason Roundup - Hit & Run : Reason.com
Fallout from new Facebook policies.
Facebook's hamfisted efforts to stop "disinformation" and "foreign influence" have made it much more difficult for political activists, community groups, and ideologically aligned communities to coalesce and organize.
"The social network's rules on political advertising burden nonprofits and are impossible to understand," states the Wall Street Journal.
Facebook's new "measures have been poorly executed and inconsistently applied," complains Daniel Gallant in the Journal op-ed.
This is something I've experienced firsthand in trying to navigate Facebook for the libertarian feminist group I co-founded, Feminists for Liberty.
Whether it's the word feminism, the word liberty, or both, Facebook has coded the group as inherently political, even though we're a nonprofit and certainly not organizing around candidates, ballot issues, or elections.
As such, we're subject to heightened scrutiny—including requests for all sorts of private personal and financial information—in order to ask for donations, promote events (even a happy hour), or do other things that pages and causes deemed non-political can do..."

Stephen Curry said the moon landing was faked, but let's all pretend he didn't - SFGate
"Stephen Curry says he does not believe humans have been to the moon, a stance which is clearly unsupported by facts and hopefully just a joke.
Curry made the proclamation on The Ringer's podcast "Winging It" with teammate Andre Iguodala and hosts Vince Carter and Kent Bazemore; you can hear the exchange around the 46-minute mark. There's some talking over each other that makes it hard to hear, but when the discussion turns to the moon landing, almost everyone seems to agree we've never been there..."
