Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas doesn’t blame white supremacists for trying to derail his career — he points his finger at  “the modern-day liberal,” a group that includes former Vice President Joe Biden.
Thomas expounds on this theme in the upcoming documentary, “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words,” a copy of which was obtained by ABC News Thursday. He spends a lot of time talking about his still controversial confirmation to the Supreme Court by the Senate Judiciary Committee — whose chairman at the time was Democratic Delaware Sen. Biden.

You're Getting Black Friday Deals Everyday on Oil and Natural Gas Thanks to Fracking - American Experiment
"Many people will be heading to the mall today or scouring online to score sweet deals on the latest goods and services as part of the annual Black Friday tradition, but one thing people probably don’t realize is that they have been getting Black-Friday quality deals on oil and natural gas for the last several years thanks to hydraulic fracturing, also known as “fracking,”...
In fact, a report released in October 2019 by the White House Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) estimates increased oil and natural gas production from fracking saves American families $203 billion annually on gasoline and electricity bills. This breaks down to $2,500 in savings per family per year..."

Newsweek Reporter Fired After Peddling Fake News That Trump Golfed On Thanksgiving | Zero Hedge
"Newsweek has fired a reporter who penned a snarky, misleading article suggesting that President Trump spent Thanksgiving 'tweeting and golfing,' when he actually flew to Afghanistan for a surprise visit with US troops.
The fired journo, Jessica Kwong, wrote in an article entitled "How is Trump Spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, Golfing and More," that the president "has been spending his Thanksgiving holidays at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida."

The golfing claim comes later in the article, as Kwong notes that Trump played golf on Thanksgiving Eve "from mid-morning to mid-afternoon."
The headline, of course, suggests Trump golfed on Thanksgiving.
After Trump popped up in Afghanistan, Kwong and Newsweek took heat over Twitter for refusing to edit the article or delete the viral tweet promoting the lie.
This caught the attention of the Trump family, who promptly called out the beleaguered news outlet:

Eventually, Kwong caved by deleting her tweet, and Newsweek edited the article - at first with no mention of the edit, and then an editors note only after virtually the entire piece had been rewritten."

Must read!!---Why Apocalyptic Claims About Climate Change Are Wrong

Why Apocalyptic Claims About Climate Change Are Wrong
"Michael Shellenberger is a Time Magazine “Hero of the Environment” and Green Book Award Winner...
Image result for Extinction rebellionEnvironmental journalists and advocates have in recent weeks made a number of apocalyptic predictions about the impact of climate change.
Bill McKibben suggested climate-driven fires in Australia had made koalas “functionally extinct.” Extinction Rebellion said “Billions will die” and “Life on Earth is dying.”
Vice claimed the “collapse of civilization may have already begun.”
Few have underscored the threat more than student climate activist Greta Thunberg and Green New Deal sponsor Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The latter said, “The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change.”
...With that out of the way, let’s look whether the science supports what’s being said.
First, no credible scientific body has ever said climate change threatens the collapse of civilization much less the extinction of the human species.
“‘Our children are going to die in the next 10 to 20 years.’ What’s the scientific basis for these claims?” BBC’s Andrew Neil asked a visibly uncomfortable XR (eXtinctionRebellion) spokesperson last month.
“These claims have been disputed, admittedly,” she said.
“There are some scientists who are agreeing and some who are saying it’s not true. But the overall issue is that these deaths are going to happen.”
“But most scientists don’t agree with this,” said Neil. “I looked through IPCC reports and see no reference to billions of people going to die, or children in 20 years. How would they die?”..."

Excerpts:
The reason you’ve heard them is that politically engaged academicians have been developing concepts like these for more than 30 years, and all that time they’ve been percolating. Only recently have they begun to emerge in mainstream culture. These academicians accomplish this by passing off their ideas as knowledge...

Weird how college speakers getting paid five-figure sums isn’t a scandal until one of them is a Republican.

But then the campus-speaker biz is just a way to launder taxpayer money into the hands of lefty activists.
Likewise much of the documentary biz.
So what was going on here was basically just a species of turf protection.--Posted by

Almost 11% of the EU’s population are faced with that reality, according to the Commission.
Despite this, less than a third of the member states officially recognise energy poverty, and only a few define it in their national laws.
Consumers spend on average 6.4% of their total consumption on electricity, gas, heating and cooling – up by 15% compared to five years ago..."

And now we see the lying morons who inhabit "State"-----"State Department had been "lax."... paint a far more damning portrait of the government's efforts before the tragedy...

Roll Call - Covering Capitol Hill Since 1955
"Jim Jones and his U.S.-founded cult is remembered for the horrific events of November 1978, when more than 900 of his mostly American followers died of murder or suicide in northwestern Guyana; also killed was investigating U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan of California, slain on Jones's orders.
A congressional investigation concluded in 1979 that the State Department had been "lax."
But this Roll Call series and podcast take a fresh look at the 30,000-page record of that investigation - some of it only recently declassified - to paint a far more damning portrait of the government's efforts before the tragedy.
Among Roll Call's findings:

  • Family concerns were dismissed: Cables show that relatives of at least 48 members of Jones's Peoples Temple reached out to the State Department over more than a year, worried about loved ones' well-being and asking for help. The cases included credible examples of the temple restricting members' communications with outsiders and preventing them from leaving the Jonestown settlementy. The records detail the extent to which diplomats minimized and sometimes dismissed these concerns.
  • Temple defectors were also largely ignored...

Hayward: Give Thanks for Your Freedom:

Image result for Hong Kong Democracy ProtestProtest movements are sweeping the world, from Hong Kong to Iraq. Protesters in each country are aware of the other movements and frequently give them shout-outs or adopt their tactics.
The fate of all these movements is uncertain, but they share a more unambiguous commitment to sovereignty than most global protest stories of the past few decades, and perhaps an understanding that national and cultural identity are vital weapons against authoritarian hegemonic powers. Smaller governments may not guarantee freedom and human rights, but big ones almost guarantee their absence.

Renaming climate change: Can a new name finally make us take action? | AdAge

See the source imageRenaming climate change: Can a new name finally make us take action? | AdAge
"As a professional namer, I create names for companies, products and services.
After the global climate strike this past September, I found myself thinking about the terms “climate change” and “global warming.”
Are these scientific terms too neutral?
Do they do enough to grab attention and inspire people to take action?
...This leads me to wonder: Is there a better way to convey the urgency of the situation, while also encouraging folks to take action?
Could the tools of branding and brand naming create a more resonant, powerful name?
...The brand needs to reach an audience that isn’t trained in scientific terms.
We need these folks to understand the severity of what’s happening to their planet and inspire them to make more eco-friendly life choices and pro-climate choices at the ballot box...
