Energy analysts argued in 2010 that coal would still be a top fuel source by 2020 and that Americans would still be dependent on oil imports at the end of the decade — those projections didn’t pan out.

Kurt Schlichter---Here’s What’s Going to Happen in 2020

"If you thought you can’t top the stupidity we experienced in 2019, brace yourself for 2020 because it’s going to be a pronoun-fueled weather cult pinko freakshow.
But it won’t be all amusing antics – the left hates us and its ugly mask is coming off, revealing the even uglier fascist visage lurking beneath.
If you listen to them, and if you aren’t an insufferable goo goo wimp who refuses to hear them, you will know that they intend to silence you, even imprison you, and deprive you of the ability to participate in your own governance.
So, if you want to live as a free man or woman – if they have their way, they’ll destroy you for recognizing that unalterable binary – best be ready.
Be motivated to engage in the cultural melee.
Vote.
And buy guns and ammo
As my favorite literary creation famously says, no one has ever regretted being too well armed.

  • With that in mind, here are my predictions for 2020:..."

JOHN TIERNEY: Journalists Against Free Speech.

Instapundit Blog Archive JOHN TIERNEY: Journalists Against Free Speech.
See the source image"Free speech is no longer sacred among young journalists who have absorbed the campus lessons about “hate speech”—defined more and more broadly—and they’re breaking long-standing taboos as they bring “cancel culture” into professional newsrooms.
They’re not yet in charge, but many of their editors are reacting like beleaguered college presidents, terrified of seeming insufficiently “woke.”
...These mostly younger progressive journalists lead campaigns to get conservative journalists fired, banned from Twitter, and “de-monetized” on YouTube.
They don’t burn books, but they’ve successfully pressured Amazon to stop selling titles that they deem offensive...
...It’s a strange new world for those who remember liberal journalists like Nat Hentoff, the Village Voice writer who stood with the ACLU in defending the free-speech rights of Nazis, Klansmen, and others whose views he deplored—or who recall the days when the Columbia Journalism Review stood as an unswerving advocate for press freedom.
Image result for “cancel culture”"Well, to be fair, journalists were mostly in favor of free speech and civil liberties in general when it was communists and the like who were being targeted.
Now that it’s communists and the like who are doing the targeting, their principles are slipping.
Or perhaps being revealed as nonexistent."--Posted by

How to make snowflakes... - Elliot Eisenberg

How to make snowflakes. I went to high school... - Elliot Eisenberg
"How to make snowflakes.
I went to high school on the South Side of Chicago, a couple blocks from the toll booths on the Chicago Skyway.
We lived between the old US Steel South Works and the City Incinerator.
The teams were called Boilermakers.
Sometimes in gym class we chose teams: the Jews against the Mexicans.
See the source imageOccasionally someone pulled the fire alarm.
Usually during finals or midterm exams.
We laughed.
Now I live in Southeastern Michigan.
Someone pulled a false alarm.
A message came from the synagogue clergy:
“This afternoon Bloomfield Hills High School was evacuated under suspicion of an active shooter. The good news is that this was a false alarm. The bad news is that our teens truly believed they were running for their lives.”
The message then assured young people they could look to clergy for counseling and prayers.
Roughly 4,000 people live in Bloomfield Hills; 40% of its homes are worth over $1 million and another 32% are worth $500,000 to $999,000 (Wikipedia).
The vast majority of students at Bloomfield Hills High know they’ll be going to UMich, one of the Ivies or another Big Ten school.
They don’t need counseling and prayers.
They need to learn self reliance and self defense.
They need to feel as if they are part of a community, a country and a religion, each of which they can be proud of.
Want snowflakes?
 Counsel them; make them victims.
Want adults?
Challenge them; make them stronger.
Snowflakes melt with heat.
Steel bends but does not break.
Make steel, not snow."

This year is ending as one of the least deadly for police officers in decades.
As of Tuesday, Dec. 31, statistics from the Officer Down Memorial Page, which tracks the deaths of officers in the U.S. and its territories, indicate that 131 police officers have died in 2019 —the lowest annual total since 1959, when 122 were killed.

Desperately Seeking Regretful Trump Voters | Power Line

Desperately Seeking Regretful Trump Voters | Power Line
"On October 7, the New York Times published an article about a 2016 Trump voter who changed his mind and now intends to vote Democrat:
Mark Graham, a real estate appraiser in this faded manufacturing hub [Erie, Pennsylvania], sat with friends at a gym named FitnessU on the morning after the Democratic debate in mid-September. He had voted for Barack Obama, but in 2016 he took a gamble on Donald Trump.
***
“Things have changed in the last couple weeks: More stupidity has come out,” Mr. Graham, 69, said in a telephone interview last week. He hopes Democrats nominate former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., but he is not particular. “I’d vote for the Democratic nominee no matter who it is at this point,” he said.
The Times story, which admitted that “[o]utright conversions like Mr. Graham’s” are “still rare,” included this photo of Graham:
Fast forward a month, to November 12. Now the Times reports, excitedly, on a new anti-Trump ad campaign being undertaken by David Brock’s disreputable organization, American Bridge:
A Democratic group unveiled a $3 million advertising campaign Tuesday featuring people who supported President Trump but now regret it, the first wave of a yearlong effort to reclaim some of the voters in the industrial Midwest who helped tip the 2016 election...
Unfortunately, neither American Bridge nor the Times thought to check the Erie, Pennsylvania voting records to confirm Mr. Graham’s claim that he voted for President Trump in 2016.
It turns out he didn’t:
An allegedly regretful Trump voter in Pennsylvania, highlighted in videos by a Democratic political action committee and by The New York Times, never actually voted in 2016...
There was a time, I suppose, when readers expected the New York Times to fact-check its news stories..."

Steve Scalise blasts Nancy Pelosi's fixation with the Senate: 'It's not her role' - WND

Image result for flickr commons images Steve ScaliseSteve Scalise blasts Nancy Pelosi's fixation with the Senate: 'It's not her role' - WND:

He said Pelosi should not be trying to extend her power into the Senate.
"Well, it's not her role to go over to the Senate," Scalise said. "She could run for the Senate if she wants to be a senator."
He said that the rules of the process must be followed.
"The House has a role; the Senate has a role," Scalise said. "It's time for the Senate to do their job.
"Look, for months she was saying how important it is, they've got to remove this president immediately, he's a threat to their, you know, their whole way of life. And then, once they pass the impeachment, she doesn't want the Senate to get the papers to start the trial.
