The state of Michigan has agreed to drop the lawsuit against a barber who stood in defiance of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s coronavirus lockdown and refused to close his shop.
Karl Manke, a 77-year-old who has operated his shop in Owosso for 60 years, was granted a full and final dismissal of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ lawsuit seeking to shut him down, according to court documents obtained by FOX66 Flint.

"A Minneapolis citizen who is living in a neighborhood where citizens are swearing off the police expressed regret to The New York Times for calling the cops on two black teenage boys after they mugged him at gunpoint.
Mitchell Erickson called 911 after two boys cornered him outside of his home a block away from Powderhorn Park, a nearby park that has become an encampment for homeless people, the Times reported Wednesday.
One of the boys reportedly pointed a gun at Erickson and demanded he give them his car keys.
He gave them his house keys instead, and they became frustrated and ran off before allegedly stealing another car.

Officers originally responded to the scene after there were reports of shots fired with a possible victim, but when they arrived on the scene to investigate, they weren't able to locate a victim. Instead the crowd reportedly surrounded and harassed the officers, throwing objects and jumping on patrol cars.

"Lansing — Three days after the confirmation of Michigan's first COVID-19 cases, the state's nursing home association leader recommended in a letter to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's administration that empty facilities should be used as quarantine centers to "avoid widespread infection."
But state officials declined the suggestion of Melissa Samuel, president and CEO of the Health Care Association of Michigan, and instead set up a system in which infected residents are cared for in isolated areas of nursing homes, separate from residents without the virus.
...As of Monday, the state reported 1,947 deaths among individuals who lived in nursing facilities and 20 deaths among staff.
The tallies represented about more than a third of the statewide death toll at that point.
...Samuel, whose association represents 353 member facilities, said Friday she didn't know why the state didn't follow the association's recommendation.
