Feds warn UCLA about disciplining professor who read N-word from MLK letter | The College Fix
"The US Department of Education has warned UCLA it could face fines if it disciplines a political science professor who read the N-word from Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.”
Image result for speech policeLecturer W. Ajax Peris, an Air Force veteran, has been under investigation since early this month
UCLA Political Science Chair Michael Chwe and two others in his department had blasted Peris in an email, agreeing with students’ complaints that he didn’t “pause and reassess [his] teaching pedagogy” after objections to the N-word.
An apology from Peris did little to assuage students and faculty.
According to Fox News, Chwe and company alleged Peris’s act of contrition “escalated the situation rather than engaging in […] thoughtful and open discourse.”...

Democrats in the Virginia state Senate have proposed reducing the charge for assaulting a police officer from a felony to a misdemeanor as a part of a broader police reform agenda, according to the Fort Hunt Herald.
Currently, assaulting a police officer is a Class 6 felony that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of six months of confinement. The Democrats' proposal would "defelonize" the offense and make it only a misdemeanor.

Trump calls Black Lives Matter a 'symbol of hate' as he digs in on race - CNNPolitics
"(CNN)...By Wednesday, Trump was calling the words "Black Lives Matter" a "symbol of hate" -- a description he's refused to use for Confederate emblems -- that would spoil the "luxury avenue" he once called home.
...As he distributes wanted posters of suspected vandals on his Twitter feed and warns those who splashed red paint on statues of George Washington to turn themselves in, Trump is also stoking racial tensions using language and tropes that harken to the days of segregationist politics and fears of ruined neighborhoods...

  • Union rep tells College Fix that university should not share data that runs afoul of its support of BLM protests
"Michigan State University leaders have successfully pressured Stephen Hsu to resign from his position as vice president of research and innovation after the Graduate Employees Union launched a campaign to oust him from his role.
Image result for how dare youThis came after the union, which represents teaching and research assistants, crawled through years of blog posts and interviews Hsu had conducted and criticized him for sharing content on genetic differences among different races.
But the main thrust to oust Hsu came because the professor touted Michigan State research that found police are not more likely to shoot African-Americans.
The union had taken advantage of a Black Lives Matter-linked #ShutDownStem day on June 10 to help oust him. Hsu stepped down from his vice president role on June 19 after pressure from the union and the president of the university, Samuel Stanley...Read all.

Inside the Facebook outburst that toppled one of Portland’s most successful chefs - oregonlive.com
In this screenshot shared with The Oregonian/OregonLive, chef John Gorham reacts to the tagging of some of Toro Bravo Inc.'s catering vans by posting an image of a spray paint gun with pepper spray bullets to Facebook on May 23 with the caption, " Vigilante might be the only way.""At the beginning of the week, John Gorham was among the most successful chefs in Portland, owner of a dozen restaurants, co-author of two cookbooks and a world traveler known to fly prominent chefs from Spain to his gleaming Pearl District “gastronomic society,” Plaza Del Toro.
That came to an end on Wednesday, when Gorham emailed The Oregonian/OregonLive to say he had checked into the hospital and would “not be returning to the company” after aggressive Facebook messages directed at a trans woman of color in late May resurfaced online.

  • On Facebook, Gorham posted aggressive messages toward a transgender person of color.

It was a stunning fall from grace for one of Portland’s best-known restaurateurs, one that took place amid the ongoing protests over police brutality and systemic racism, and that only came to light last week after the victim approached the Gorhams and asked for money.
John Gorham becomes the latest in a growing number of prominent public figures across America to step aside over resurfaced social media posts during the Black Lives Matter movement, a list that includes magazine editors, elected officials and CEOs.
The Oregonian/OregonLive spoke with the main participants and reviewed screenshots of email correspondence, private messages and Facebook posts to put together this account of how the incident unfurled...

Driving Conservatives Underground - American Thinker

Driving Conservatives Underground - American Thinker

  • Cultural tyranny reigns in America, the last step before full-fledged political tyranny.

"Lurking beneath the surface of virtue-signaling leftists are tyrants seeking to exert their will over those they despise.
The defining leftist culture enables them to ruthlessly use all the power at their disposal, both real and imagined, to enforce a single acceptable viewpoint on society.
In some geographic areas, this is more obvious than in others, but no area will ultimately be spared.
See the source image...Unless a family is willing to stand guard 24/7 over their property, a Trump bumper sticker or sign here is a risky proposition at best.
...Few stand against this pressure, which is why nearly all major companies and organizations have come out with quisling statements of support of the name of a vile Marxist organization like Black Lives Matter.
...We also watched what I believe is the vilest propaganda campaign of my lifetime, when every cop in America was slandered as a racist with barely a protest.
...This is war, and the left is playing to win.
Anyone who doesn't get that by now, to include most of the NeverTrumps, is either irredeemably stupid or an active collaborator...

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan expressed outrage after Black Lives Matter protesters showed up at her home Sunday afternoon, despite her previous support and defense of the "CHOP" encampment.

GOP Ad Warns About Democrats Destroying Mount Rushmore

GOP Ad Warns About Democrats Destroying Mount Rushmore
"On Wednesday, the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) released a powerful new ad warning about vandals and rioters destroying a key monument in American culture — the presidents on Mount Rushmore.
While the vandals are not likely to actually deface Mount Rushmore anytime soon, their iconoclastic movement has already targeted each of the four presidents on the monument — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.
The ad, “Erasing History,” shows the presidents on Mount Rushmore disappearing, one by one, as vandals tarnish monuments to each of those presidents, and as “America the Beautiful” plays somberly in the background...Read all.

Forbes unpublished an article Monday in which an environmental activist apologized for scaring people about climate change.
Michael Shellenberger’s article was originally published by Forbes Sunday, but was taken down one day later. Shellenberger, who is the founder and president of Environmental Progress, decried “climate alarmism” in the article, which he posted on his website after Forbes took it down.
“On behalf of environmentalists everywhere, I would like to formally apologize for the climate scare we created over the last 30 years,” he wrote.
