Salena Zito: Pulling up roots: What a community loses when small businesses can’t survive
PITTSBURGH — ...Through tears he says he simply has had enough — not of his customers, not of creating new dishes or specialized drinks, but of all the uncertainty that has dogged nearly every small businessman in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
  • “It started with COVID and just over time, the uncertainty, the stress of trying to stay open, the inability to hire people, the underlying tension in society, the inflationary cost of everything you need to purchase to create quality food, that is, if you can get it…”...
  • The food costs are crushing him, he said, but so is the cost of doing business, period. His utility bills have skyrocketed, as has the cost of fuel...
“It just breaks you down no matter how strong you are,” said Mr. Mikesell...

Wow!!-----The 70 Seconds that Shook the World

The 70 Seconds that Shook the World

"In March 16, 2020, following a long weekend of negotiations and deals about the coronavirus, Donald Trump, Deborah Birx, and Anthony Fauci spoke at a White House press conference for the first time about nationwide lockdowns.
They handed out a sheet of paper – it mostly consisted of conventional health advice – that said in tiny print: “bars, restaurants, food courts, gyms, and other indoor and outdoor venues where groups of people congregate should be closed.”
Shut it all down. Everything. Everyone. As if the whole economy were a nightclub closing early.

  • ...All evidence suggests that Trump did not know that the tiny text was in there.
  • The reading of the text was left to the question and answer session.
Even when it was read by Fauci from the podium, Trump seemed distracted by something else, almost as if he did not hear or did not want to hear it...
  • Let’s take this apart frame by frame to understand what happened in these 70 seconds as part of the Q&A session.
Fauci steps up to the microphone.
  • He does not personally call for lockdowns.
  • Instead he reads the guidance word for word.
Dr. Fauci: The small print here. It’s really small print. “In states with evidence of community transmission, bars, restaurants, food courts, gyms and other indoor and outdoor venues where groups of people congregate should be closed.”...

Which party really represents American values?

Facebook   Ann E W Stone
In 2016 Democrats denied the election results, rioted and burned for months. We may have called them morons or made fun of their meltdowns but we didn’t try to jail them or keep them from speaking.
In 2020 Republicans denied the election results, a very small group protested and did some damage at the Capitol.
  • The Democrats arrested and jailed them and others who weren’t even present without due process. They pushed and in some cases got some outlandish Jail terms. The FBI investigated and found no conspiracy.
  • Then Democrats in Congress ramped up a one-sided tribunal without due process which spent millions and held months and months of hearings.
  • They got the media to give them free airtime during prime time for their extended political commercial through these hearings. So far they’ve proven no conspiracy either.
  • They also linked arms with Big tech and the media to silence anyone who spoke out against election results or criticized their actions or ideas.
  • They labeled all of us semi-fascists, domestic terrorists, and threats to Democracy.
Which party really represents American values?...

There’s a major reason why the world in 2022 is like the world in 1939

There’s a major reason why the world in 2022 is like the world in 1939 - By Vince Coyner
  • Vladimir Putin is a bad guy. Vladimir Putin is a megalomaniac. Vladimir Putin is a criminal. All those things are true. Similarly, Adolf Hitler was a bad guy, a megalomaniac, and a criminal.
  • But Vladimir Putin is not Adolf Hitler and Russia in 2022 is not Germany in 1938/39.
  • But in both cases, the future of the world hung on / hangs in the balance.
  • But maybe not in the way you think....
  • ...At the very moment when a fragile peace could have been worked out and negotiators begun to solve the differences between Russia and Ukraine, Joe Biden steps in and does what he does best, mess things up. The timeline here is interesting. Even though, on March 10, the US promised Ukraine $13 billion and, on March 26, Biden told the world that Putin “cannot remain in power,” the Russian and Ukrainian negotiators were still able to come to an agreement on a peace deal. And staggeringly, Joe Biden scuttled it...
...In 2022 if the world finds itself in a nuclear conflict, Vladimir Putin will bear some of the blame, but he will share that with the feckless Joe Biden
Putin’s a thug, and Biden’s a dunce, and everyone knows it.
Most of the blame however will sit squarely on the shoulders of the purported “81 million” Americans who were so angered by “mean tweets” that they put into the most powerful office in the world someone demonstrably not capable of running a lemonade stand."

I worked as a physics teacher, and I know how difficult it is to effectively communicate science to the public.
But I also wanted to say that I've seen a shift in your tone in recent months.
You seem to have transitioned from cautious skepticism to anger at how the CDC, legacy media, and pharma are all full of crap.
I wanted to say thank you for being so honest about it.

...Fast forward to now, and as bad as things are — rising interest rates, high inflation, stock market tumbling — the economy hasn’t imploded as it did during the Great Depression.
1. Housing prices may finally come down to reasonable levels....Higher mortgage rates may result in sellers in many markets lowering their asking prices so that buyers can qualify for the loans...
4. The dollar is king. Although a lot is in flux, if you have plans to travel overseas, your dollar may go a lot further. This week, the British pound fell to an all-time low against the dollar.
5. Unemployment is still relatively low. People with jobs and money to spare can spend on luxuries such as a vacation..."
