Done deal: Muskegon planners approve final farmers market plans, construction continues at site
"A regional real estate official for the U.S. Post Office raised the parking issue in a new light. The new market adjacent to the historic post office will cause postal customers parking issues on the days the market is operating, according to Marla Larsen-Williams of the regional postal headquarters in Bloomingdale, Ill.
“We are not in support of the new farmers market plans,” Larsen-Williams told planning commissioners at their Thursday, July 11 meeting. “We have issues and do have concerns.”
The first issue is availability of parking around the immediate area of the post office and new market location. The second issue is introducing large crowds in that area of downtown creates a security issue for postal vehicles and property."
