Meet the Vagina Voters

Meet the Vagina Voters - Reason.com:
Have you ever read a more squirm-inducing sentence than that?
It appeared in a pro-Hillary piece in Dame magazine, written by a person with a vagina who intends to vote for Clinton because she also has a vagina.
Let's leave aside the unfortunate image conjured up by that sentence ("You can hold a pencil with that thing?!")
The bigger problem with such unabashed declarations of "vagina voting" is that they confirm the descent of feminism into the cesspool of identity politics, even biologism, and its abandonment of the idea that women should be valued more for their minds than their anatomy.
Kate Harding, the vagina voter in question, isn't only going to vote with her vag—she's also going to tell everyone about it.
"I intend to vote with my vagina.
Unapologetically.
Enthusiastically...And I intend to talk about it," she wrote in Dame.
She thinks Hillary would be a great president because she "knows what it's like to menstruate, be pregnant, [and] give birth..."

Gov. Snyder redefining the word "bailout"----Detroit Education Overhaul Would Cost Other Schools $50 Per Student

Detroit Education Overhaul Would Cost Other Schools $50 Per Student [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
"Gov. Rick Snyder says his vision of new Detroit public school system does not represent a bailout because it doesn’t ask for more taxpayer dollars.
But one study says that school districts around the state will have to chip in $50 per pupil, which some superintendents aren’t happy about.
Snyder has proposed creating a new “Detroit Education District” to operate all public schools in the city.
Alongside of this entity, the current Detroit school district would be retained in a purely administrative role solely for the purpose of paying off the massive debt it has accumulated.
Money to service the debt would come from $72 million in annual city property tax millage revenue the district now collects.
Since that money would no longer be available to operate the schools, the state would have to pick up the difference.
The governor says this would not be a bailout because no extra taxpayer dollars would be requested.
However, the extra funding must come from somewhere, and apparently that means the state's other 544 school districts."

SO AFTER I TWEETED THEM, NPR CORRECTED THE HEADLINE IN THIS AWFUL HIT PIECE ON TEXAS GOV. ABBOTT...

Instapundit » Blog Archive » SO AFTER I TWEETED THEM, NPR CORRECTED THE HEADLINE IN THIS AWFUL HIT PIECE ON TEXAS GOV. ABBOTT, BU…:
"SO AFTER I TWEETED THEM, NPR CORRECTED THE HEADLINE IN THIS AWFUL HIT PIECE ON TEXAS GOV. ABBOTT, BUT IT’S STILL WRONG.
As this WaPo article — from last week — explains, Abbott send the State Guard (not the Texas National Guard, as the NRP story originally claimed) to observe (not “stave off,” as the NPR article still wrongly claims) federal military maneuvers (not a “takeover” as the NPR article still wrongly claims).
The WaPo story also explains why, for safety reasons, it’s a good idea for state officials to know about these exervises.
Compare the treatment by WaPo — hardly an Abbott-friendly organ — with the NPR piece by Wade Goodwyn, which seems designed to produce agitprop headlines for Dems to share with each other over social media.
Now note which one is supported by your tax dollars.

In a City Where Democrats Have Reigned for 50 Years, Have ‘Liberal Policies…Failed Baltimore’? Here’s How One Congresswoman Answered | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Torn by riots and beset by some of the highest violence rates and worst schools in the country.

It’s been happening on Democrats’ watches for half a century now.

On “Fox News Sunday” this week, host Chris Wallace confronted Democratic Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards with the facts about Baltimore as the city continues to grapple with riots and questions about police brutality."

"There was great speculation in the scientific community about how the problem would be solved..."

finding things with crowds -- 5/5/15:
"In December 2009, DARPA offered $40,000 to anyone who could locate ten balloons that they had placed in plain sight around the continental United States.
DARPA is the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, an organization under the U.S. Department of Defense. DARPA created the Internet (more precisely, they designed and built the first computer network, ARPANET, on which the current World Wide Web is modeled).

At issue was how the United States might solve large-scale problems of national security and defense, and to test the country's capacity for mobilization during times of urgent crisis.
Replace 'balloons' with 'dirty bombs' or other explosives, and the relevance of the problem is clear.
...One of the interesting questions that social networking engineers and Department of Defense workers had wondered about is how many people it would take to cover the entire country in the event of a real national emergency, such as searching for an errant nuclear weapon.
In the case of the DARPA balloons, it required only 4,665 people and fewer than nine hours." "

Why are our "leaders" ignoring us?---Support for More Border Control Hits Four-Year High

Immigration - Rasmussen Reports™:
A growing number of voters consider illegal immigration a serious problem and believe controlling the border is the most important thing the government can do, even if using the military is necessary.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 77% of Likely U.S. Voters now consider illegal immigration a serious problem in America today, with 51% who say it is Very Serious.
...As they have for years, most voters (63%) think gaining control of the border is more important than legalizing the status of undocumented workers already living in the United States.
...Most voters (63%) still agree that the U.S. military should be used along the Mexican border to prevent illegal immigration, but that’s up from 57% in January and is the highest finding since December 2012.
...Most voters in nearly every demographic category rate illegal immigration a serious problem and think border control is the most important step to take to combat it.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of Republicans and 65% of voters not affiliated with either major political party think securing the border is more important than legalizing the status of current illegal immigrants.
Democrats by a narrow 48% to 42% margin disagree and put legalizing those who are already here first...

"The current proposed rule seeks to impose standards on formaldehyde in composite wood products, which would include hardwood plywood, medium-density fiberboard and particleboard, all of which use glue that has formaldehyde in it. Laminate flooring would be included in the rule if it is “made by attaching a wood veneer with a formaldehyde-based resin to a composite wood platform.”

Just because someone has laminate flooring though, the EPA wrote, does not mean that formaldehyde exposure should be a concern:"

A Scoop of Pot Hole Drizzled With Tax Dollars

A Scoop of Pot Hole Drizzled With Tax Dollars - WSJ
Hillsdale, Mich.
...The Michigan Transportation Asset Management Council, a state agency, claims that 38% of the state’s roads are in “poor” condition and projects that in a decade this figure will jump to 53%.
...All told, the measure would generate more than $2 billion in revenue a year.
Yet the amount that would go to transportation—mostly roads and bridges, but also bike paths, light rail and “streetscape” projects that aim to improve the look of downtown areas—is only about $1.2 billion.
The rest would fuel new spending on public education and local government, as well as an expansion of the state’s earned-income tax credit.
In other words, taxpayers will get less than $1.2 billion in roadwork for the price of more than $2 billion.
...Since Mr. Snyder took office in 2011, the state’s budget has grown 14%, to a projected $30 billion next year from $26.3 billion, according to the state’s Senate Fiscal Agency.
This is well above inflation and outpaces Michigan’s tiny population growth.
Despite these increases, lawmakers have skimped on basic infrastructure, even though Michigan roads must endure a climate of freezing and thawing that ravages asphalt.
The state spends only $126 per capita on roads, according to a Detroit Free Press analysis—less than any other state in the country and much less than neighboring Indiana ($339), Ohio ($258) and Wisconsin ($295)...

2 GUNMEN KILLED OUTSIDE MUHAMMAD CARTOON CONTEST...
A police officer shot and killed two gunmen who opened fire outside the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland on Sunday night. A security officer was wounded in the shooting.

Garland officer Joe Harn says the men had used assault rifles, and that one officer had fatally shot both gunmen. Harn also said investigators searched the men's car and detonated several suspicious items, but no bombs were found in the vehicle.

"We were able to stop those men before they were able to penetrate the area and shoot anyone else," Harn said.

Obama Telling States NOT to Ask for Citizenship Proof on New Voter Registration Forms | John Hawkins' Right Wing News:

"Obama is desperate to give millions of illegals the right to vote to give the Democrats a permanent majority.

Non-citizens are voting in American elections, and the federal government refuses to do anything to stop it.

Worse, the current administration seems to be doing everything they can to prevent the states from trying to stop it."

Immigrants to U.S. From China Top Those From Mexico

Immigrants to U.S. From China Top Those From Mexico - WSJ:
"SAN DIEGO—Move over, Mexico.
When it comes to sending immigrants to the U.S., China and India have taken the lead.
China was the country of origin for 147,000 recent U.S. immigrants in 2013, while Mexico sent just 125,000, according to a Census Bureau study by researcher Eric Jensen and others.
India, with 129,000 immigrants, also topped Mexico, though the two countries’ results weren’t statistically different from each other.
For the study, presented last week at the Population Association of America conference in San Diego, researchers analyzed annual immigration data for 2000 to 2013 from the American Community Survey.
The mandatory annual survey conducted by the Census Bureau asks where respondents lived the year before.
Researchers counted as an “immigrant” any foreign-born person in the U.S. who said they previously lived abroad, without asking about legal status. (So while the data include undocumented immigrants, it may undercount them.)
A year earlier, in 2012, Mexico and China had been basically tied for top-sending country—with Mexico at 125,000 and China at 124,000.
It isn’t just China and India.
Several of the top immigrant-sending countries in 2013 were from Asia, including South Korea, the Philippines and Japan...

You gonna give these morons $2 billion more?!!----MDOT bungles rail car lease

Editorial: MDOT bungles rail car lease:
"The Michigan Department of Transportation is in a financial bind thanks to the 23 rails cars it is leasing from the Great Lakes Central Railroad.
And the department can’t even use these rail cars for at least four more years.
That’s a huge waste of money.
The cars are meant for two commuter projects in Southeast Michigan — a line from Howell to Ann Arbor and another from Ann Arbor to Detroit.
They are to be put into service after tracks along the two lines are upgraded.
...Meanwhile, the cars are sitting idle at a rail yard in Owosso and are costing taxpayers about $3,000 a day.
To date, the department has spent about $11.4 million to lease and refurbish the cars..."

Major U.S. Retailers Are Closing More Than 6,000 Stores: "Middle Class U.S. Consumers Are Tapped Out"

Major U.S. Retailers Are Closing More Than 6,000 Stores: "Middle Class U.S. Consumers Are Tapped Out":
"If the U.S. economy really is improving, then why are big U.S. retailers permanently shutting down thousands of stores?
The “retail apocalypse” that I have written about so frequently appears to be accelerating.
As you will see below, major U.S. retailers have announced that they are closing more than 6,000 locations, but economic conditions in this country are still fairly stable.
So if this is happening already, what are things going to look like once the next recession strikes?
...If retailers are closing this many stores already, what are our malls and shopping centers going to look like a few years from now?
The list below comes from information compiled by About.com,...
As you can see, the number of stores that are being permanently shut down is absolutely staggering…
180 Abercrombie & Fitch (by 2015)
75 Aeropostale (through January 2015)
150 American Eagle Outfitters (through 2017)
223 Barnes & Noble (through 2023)
265 Body Central / Body Shop
200 Walgreens (by 2017)
10 West Marine
338 Wet Seal
80 Wolverine World Wide (2015 – Stride Rite & Keds)..... (read on-long list)
So why is this happening?....
The truth is that middle class U.S. consumers are tapped out.
Most families are just scraping by financially from month to month.
For most Americans, there simply is not a whole lot of extra money left over to go shopping with these days.
In fact, at this point approximately one out of every four Americans spend at least half of their incomes just on rent
More than one in four Americans are spending at least half of their family income on rent – leaving little money left to purchase groceries, buy clothing or put gas in the car, new figures have revealed.

A staggering 11.25 million households consume 50 percent or more of their income on housing and utilities, according to an analysis of Census data by nonprofit firm, Enterprise Community Partners...
