Somalis arriving at the rate of 750 a month right now; will it ever end? « Refugee Resettlement Watch:

"As of March 31, we were 6 months into the 2016 fiscal year which began on Oct. 1, 2015.
Since you all were interested in the Syrian numbers so far I thought I should update you on the Somali migration to America.  But, first check out my post of September 2008 where I chronicled over 30 years of Somali resettlement to America.   Notice that the highest resettlement years occurred in the Bush Administration.
I want to make the point again—once the UN and the US State Department get rolling on a specific ethnic group, the flow into America continues for decades!  A reporter asked me the other day: if we blow up a place, aren’t we responsible for the people? We didn’t blow up Somalia, so why are we responsible for their mass importation to America?
As of the end of 2015 we have admitted 127,337 Somalis through the Refugee Admissions Program. This figure does not include successful asylum seekers or those in the US illegally. Do we continue taking Somalis for decades to come?

This year FY2016 we are on target for 9,000!

Checking the State Department data, I see we admitted 4,521 Somalis in the first half of FY2016.  Here is where they went:

The end of civilization-----University students are struggling to read entire books

University students are struggling to read entire books | Education | News | The Independent: "Students have reacted to claims from university professors that they struggle to read books from cover to cover by admitting it is true - but insisting it's because universities don't give them enough time to finish them.
University academics caused a furore this week by claiming many students found the thought of reading books all the way to the end “daunting”, due to shorter attention spans and an inability to focus on complex philosophies.
Jenny Pickerill, a professor in environmental geography at the University of Sheffield, told Times Higher Education magazine: “Students struggle with set texts, saying the language or concepts are too hard”.
"I recently had a student suggest an alternative book for a module I am teaching which they found easier to engage with.
It was a good book, but it was not really academic enough and I am still unsure if that matters or whether I should be recommending more readable books.
There is currently a disjuncture between the types of reading we want students to engage with and the types students feel able or willing to do.”
Jo Brewis, professor of organisation and consumption at Leicester University, weighed in saying "graduates and postgraduate students seem mainly not to be avid readers”.
Recommending whole books would overwhelm them, she added, and she tended not to do so."

“The integration of Muslims will probably be the hardest task” the UK has ever faced, according to the country's former Equality and Human Rights Commission chairman Trevor Phillips.
He made the comments about a new study conducted for Britain’s Channel 4 TV, analyzing What British Muslims Really Think.
The poll indicated that large numbers of Muslims, 86 percent, feel a strong sense of belonging towards Britain, while 88% think the UK is a good place for Muslims to live. On most things 78% say they would like to integrate.
However, there are key differences where sections of the Muslim community have very different and troubling views.
“On specific issues – families, sexuality, gender, attitudes towards Jews and on questions of violence and terrorism,” Phillips told BBC Radio 4’s Today Program, “the centre of gravity of British Muslim opinion is some distance away from the centre of gravity of everyone else’s opinion.”
Here are some of the more worrying find of the poll:
  • 23% support the introduction of sharia into Muslim areas of Britain.
  • 39% agree “wives should always obey their husbands” (5% for the general population).
  • 52% think homosexuality should be illegal, compared with 5% of the country as a whole. Only 18% of Muslims agree it should be legal.
  • 47% believe it is unacceptable for a gay person to be a teacher (14% for the general population).
  • 35% say Jews have too much power in Britain (5% of the general population)..."

OBAMA PRESSURED U.S. SHOE COMPANY To Keep Their Mouths Shut...But Now The Deal is OFF...And So Are The Gloves! » 100percentfedUp.com:

"Of course, putting America first is a totally foreign concept to the man who occupies the highest office in the nation. Obama appears to have even (temporarily) given up the game of golf in order to spend every last second of his final term forming alliances with communist leaders, shutting down American companies (like the coal industry he promised to bankrupt) and destroying our most basic rights afforded to us by the US Constitution (that he has absolutely no regard for). Why would anyone expect Obama to protect an American business without something being in it for him?

The Boston Globe is reporting that U.S.-based shoe manufacturer New Balance has come out hard against the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal."

25 Mind Boggling Facts About the SR-71. #12 Made Me Wince. [VIDEO]
The SR-71 Blackbird is a total badass.
It was the nation’s preeminent spy plane for more than 30 years and served as the gatekeeper between the era of spy plans and spy satellites. But what really mattered was that the thing flat out hauls serious butt.
When you make the fastest plane every to fly, there’s mind-boggling engineering and that leads to awesome factoids. Here’s a collection of things you probably don’t know about the SR-71:
SR28

1. Even though it hasn’t flown in 15 years, it’s still the official record holder for fastest manned jet-powered aircraft.
Though a few pilots took it even faster over the years, 2,193.13 mph is the official record, set in July of 1976 to celebrate America’s bicentennial. This image above is that plane landing after hitting that accomplishment.

SR2
2. And it set the record with only one engine.
As with other speed records, to be official speed, the plane needs to fly in both directions. On the run, one engine shut down at the start of the second run, and the pilot tried to get it relit. The pilot, then-Capt. Al Joersz, said, “By the time we’d gone through the checklist, we’d already passed the second gate [thus officially starting the run]. Still, we exited the gate at Mach 3.2.”

House Memo Claims Eric Holder ‘Intensely Followed and Managed’ Fast and Furious Obstruction | TheBlaze.com:

"The 12-page Chaffetz memo summarizes the review of a court-ordered release of some 20,500 Justice Department documents to the House committee probing the failed program that allowed about 2,000 U.S. guns to flow to Mexican drug-trafficking organizations.

“More than previously understood, the documents show the lengths to which senior Department officials went to keep information from Congress,” the Chaffetz memo said. “Further, the documents reveal how senior Justice Department officials — including Attorney General Eric Holder — intensely followed and managed an effort to carefully limit and obstruct the information produced to Congress.”"

WHY THE LEFT’S WAR ON BATHROOMS MATTERS:
“Unfortunately, the bathroom wars are likely just getting started,” Heather Wilhelm warns.
“The Obama administration has already chosen sides.
‘This is a good illustration that the fight for civil rights is not over,’ White House press secretary Josh Earnest said of the North Carolina law.
‘The president, every time, is going to be on the side of equality and fairness and justice for every American.’  That sounds great, unless you’re an American with traditional views on gender, your kids are in a public school, and the girls’ locker room has just been declared a gender-fluid zone.
Alas, my friend; you simply have the wrong thoughts.
Sadly, in some cases, that’s when ‘equality and fairness and justice’ don’t really apply.”
As Matthew Hennessey wrote last month at Ricochet on Bill de Blasio’s war on bathrooms, “Fair warning: If you come to New York and you see a dodgy looking dude hanging around the little girl’s room, you’re better off keeping it to yourself. His reality is all that counts.”

Thousands of teachers flock to ‘White Privilege Conference’

Thousands of teachers flock to ‘White Privilege Conference’ | EAGnews.org:
PHILADELPHIA – Thursday marked the start of “The 17th Annual White Privilege Conference” and this year’s theme is “Let Freedom Ring, Re-Imagining Equality & Social Justice in the United States.”
whiteprivilegeThe annual event is aimed at promoting the theory of White Privilege – that American society is hopelessly stacked against minorities and the only way to fix the system is for white people to acknowledge their immense “privilege” and repent.
Our vision is to build a community committed to dismantling white privilege, white supremacy and oppression, every day, everywhere,” wrote Eddie Moore Jr., founder and president of “The Privilege Institute,” which organizes the event.
“WPC fosters an environment where every participant can engage deeply, and then through our Accountability program, bring what they have learned back to their own community so that their WPC experience impacts their lives, employment, and community all year long.”
The 2016 theme and Philadelphia location are designed to highlight the main reasons why the White Privilege Institute, and its like-minded attendees at the conference, hate America the most.
“Throughout the history of the United States, ‘liberty’ and ‘justice’ have been espoused values, which have only ever applied to a very small minority of people,” according to a letter to conference participants. “The Constitution supported the enslavement of Africans; the U.S. government orchestrated the decimation of Native American nations; until 1952 Congress prohibited Asians and Latinos from naturalizing as U.S. citizens because they were not White; the Bill of Rights did not apply to persons who were not White, male and Christian.”
Read on and see your tax dollars spent on hate.

Until we un-earthed this video that seems to prove, beyond all shadow of a doubt, that yes…. Caitlyn Jenner, a woman, won the men’s decathlon at the 1976 Olympics.
What a broad!

Caitlyn Jenner… an inspiration to women everywhere since 1976.
Winning an award every time we turn around.

(DEMOCRAT) Cullerton proposes taxing Illinois drivers by the mile

Cullerton proposes taxing Illinois drivers by the mile | Illinois Policy | Illinois' comeback story starts here:
..."SB 3267 would introduce electronic driver tracking, and create a behemoth bureaucracy to keep tabs on Illinois drivers and figure out how to process tax credits.
Illinois already hoses drivers at the pump – now, one of the state’s most powerful politicians is eyeing a new way to collect road-usage taxes from all drivers – and to make sure electric-car drivers don’t slip through the cracks.
Illinois Senate President (DEMOCRAT) John Cullerton’s Senate Bill 3267 would require all drivers – not just those with electric cars – to pay a per-mile road-user fee starting July 2017.
Drivers would still be required to pay gas taxes at the pump, but would receive a tax credit from the state to cover the number of miles they drive per month, according to the legislation..."

DAXIT: Denmark Could Follow Britain Out Of The European Union

DAXIT: Denmark Could Follow Britain Out Of The European Union:
"Denmark could vote to leave the European Union (EU) in the event of a Brexit, a poll has revealed.
According to a survey by polling firm Epinion for business consultancy Analyseenheden 4V, 27 per cent would vote to leave the EU if Britain does the same, compared to 30 per cent who would vote to remain, putting the result within the margin of error.
Given the way referendums have previously gone in the country, with the pro-EU side starting ahead only to be defeated on polling day, this could make Danish withdrawal a real possibility if the country ever held a referendum.
“No referendum has been called, but if it were, the result would likely be a Daxit, or Danexit,” according to Erik Hogh-Sorensen, a partner at Analyseenheden 4V.
...The poll is further evidence that anti-Establishment feeling is sweeping across Europe."

Obama Just Named Navy Warship Something That Infuriated Many - A Big Slap In The Face To Military

Obama Just Named Navy Warship Something That Infuriated Many - A Big Slap In The Face To Military:
"In a move that ignores both tradition and the rules in order to push a far left agenda, the Obama administration is breaking protocol by naming a U.S. warship after a left-wing politician and liberal activist.
Navy Secretary Ray Mabus announced they will name the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer after liberal politician Carl Levin, a Michigan senator who recently retired from politics after a 31-year career.
Nearly 200 Navy and Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipients were overlooked in favor of Sen. Levin who never served in the military, thus ignoring naval guidelines and tradition.
Republicans upset over the decision noted Senator Levin served on the very committee that gutted the Navy.
In fact, Levin worked to initiate a reduction of the U.S. military.
The drawdown was so successful that American military leaders say the United States can no longer fight a war on two fronts, a goal that has been a key part of U.S. security strategy since WWII.
A spokesman for Navy Secretary Marbus said the ship was named after an “American hero” in Senator Levin.
However, honoring Senator Levin doesn’t conform to Navy Secretary Mabus’ own guidelines he issued in 2012 titled, “Policies and Practices of the U.S. Navy for Naming the Vessels of the Navy.”
According to The Washington Times, the ship newly named after the liberal politician is the only such ship — aside from the Winston Churchill — that doesn’t conform to the guidelines.
“Most Arleigh Burke honorees are naval war heroes,” wrote the Times.
“A significant number earned the Medal of Honor. There are several Navy secretaries.”
Representative Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., is one member of Congress unhappy over the breach of guidelines. Hunter, a Marine Corps veteran, sent a letter to the Navy Secretary asking why he didn’t follow his own rules in naming the ship.
“I would like an explanation as to how this decision properly reflects Navy ship-naming rules,” Hunter wrote. He added, “It is important that the Navy adhere to its own ship-naming rules and take every effort necessary to avoid politicization of this process.”
Hunter was also a critic of Secretary Marbus’ move to name a U.S. warship after union activist César Chavez — another liberal activist who never served in the military."

How Brazil, the darling of the developing world, came undone

How Brazil, the darling of the developing world, came undone - The Washington Post:
"BRASILIA — It was called the “Brazil model,” or simply “the Lula model,” back when this country’s economy was roaring and its president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was a superstar of the developing world.
By balancing support for big business with big social-welfare programs, the union boss turned statesman presided over an era of growth that lifted tens of millions of Brazilians out of poverty. Lula’s presidency cut a new template for a Latin American left that had long insisted that class struggle and revolution were the only road to fairness.
The coronation came when Brazil was chosen to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, confirming its rise as a global power.
Now Brazil is limping to the Games.
Its economy is facing its worst crisis since the 1930s.
A Zika virus epidemic rages.
And on Sunday, lawmakers will vote on whether to impeach President Dilma Rousseff, Lula’s hand-picked successor.
...Companies wasted thousands of hours deciphering a greedy tax system.
And all the while, the old way of making deals — lubricating them with graft — went unchanged.
Big construction and energy companies grew fat on state contracts and government loans under Lula and Rousseff, and the opportunities for illegal enrichment were infinite.
Slush money poured into political campaigns.
The dirt from those years is now being unearthed by a hard-charging team of prosecutors and a tough lower-court federal judge, Sérgio Moro, who is overseeing the investigation of a bribery scheme at national oil company Petrobras.
Through wiretaps, raids, arrests and plea deals, the probe has exposed spider webs of corruption throughout Brazil’s elite..."
