The Gates

By Tammy Derouin

Some things never change.  Our-soon-to be former president is encouraging the protesters and rioters to show their displeasure with the outcome of the election.  Instead of calling for calmness, he is once again stoking the fire.  Should we really be surprised?

Obama’s presidency has been a continuous, non-stop attempt to create unrest.  It’s as if his policies and dictatorial orders were an intentional attempt to divide the American people.  A Clinton presidency would have continued the war against Americans.  Those who refuse to see reality may continue to deny the truth, but I think history will eventually put all speculation to rest.

We cannot always control what is going to happen, but we gain some control when we decide how we are going to proceed and handle the situation.  How you react to an action, in many cases, determines whether things will escalate or simmer.  There is usually a bright or positive side even when things don’t go as you envisioned.

I understand that many Americans are disappointed in the outcome of the election.  Many of the reasons being thrown around are imaginary fears, being fueled by their party.  The election is over, Mr. Trump has won.  Let’s give him the same chance that so many gave Mr. Obama upon his unbelievable rise to the presidency.

I also understand that we are living in a time when hypocrisy is king.  We know very well that if the tables were turned, Obama and his party would be condemning such unruly behavior if they were the target.  We would be assured that our rights and freedoms are not on the chopping block, despite eight years of proof to the contrary.

It is time we start looking at the positive side to the outcome of this election.......

Where do we get such men?-----Refusing To Abandon The Wounded, Chaplain Emil Kapaun Remained Behind to Care for His Men and Died in a Korean POW Camp - Page 2 of 2

Refusing To Abandon The Wounded, Chaplain Emil Kapaun Remained Behind to Care for His Men and Died in a Korean POW Camp - Page 2 of 2:
"...A Final Service
...As the men were ravaged by dysentery and disease, he boiled their water, washed their clothes, and treated their wounds.
The guards would often mock him for his faith and force him to stand in the cold naked for hours.
He never lost his faith and he never ceased to serve the men.
On Easter of 1951, he led a service using twigs put together as a cross and a small prayer missal he had hidden.
However, disease began to take its toll on Kapaun.
He developed a limp from a blood clot which was followed by dysentery and pneumonia.
Once the North Koreas realized his condition, they sought their chance to rid the camp of the man who inspired so much hope in the men.
He was taken to a “death house” against the pleadings of the men where he would be left without food or water to die.
Kapaun’s words to his men were simply, “I’m going where I’ve always wanted to go.”
He died on May 23rd, 1951 and while he was initially honored with the Distinguished Servce Cross, subsequent accounts would result in upgrading to the Medal of Honor.
He inspired the men in battle with his gallantry, he inspired the men in the POW camp with his mercy, and he can know continue to inspire us all with his dedication to service and sacrifice."

Julian Assange On Google: They 'Do Things The CIA Cannot'

Julian Assange On Google: They 'Do Things The CIA Cannot':
"Julian Assange cautioned all of us a while back, in the vein of revelations similar to those provided by Edward Snowden, that Google — the insidious search engine with a reputation for powering humanity’s research — plays the dark hand role in furthering U.S. imperialism and foreign policy agendas.
...This cult of government and non-government insiders have a firm belief their goals should be the unassailable, unquestionable motivator for American imperialism — whatever the U.S. thinks best as a “benevolent superpower,” so should the rest of the ‘non-evil’ world.
“They will tell you that open-mindedness is a virtue, but all perspectives that challenge the exceptionalist drive at the heart of American foreign policy will remain invisible to them,” Assange wrote in When Google Met Wikileaks
“This is the impenetrable banality of ‘don’t be evil.’
They believe that they are doing good.
And that is a problem.”
...Fortune, calling Cohen a “fascinating fellow,” noted that, in his book Children of Jihad, the young diplomat and technology enthusiast “advocates for the use of technology for social upheaval in the Middle East and elsewhere.”
...It wasn’t until weeks and months after this gathering Assange fully realized how closely Google operates in tandem with the government of the United States — and how perilous the innocent mask of its public intentions truly is in light of such cooperation.
Ironically enough, in Wikileaks’ publishing three years later of the Global Intelligence Files — internal emails from private security firm, Stratfor — Cohen’s and Google’s true depth of influence became strikingly apparent. Assange wrote:
“Cohen’s directorate appeared to cross over from public relations and ‘corporate responsibility’ work into active corporate intervention in foreign affairs at a level that is normally reserved for states. Jared Cohen could be wryly named Google’s ‘director of regime change.’ According to the emails, he was trying to plant his fingerprints on some of the major historical events in the contemporary Middle East. He could be placed in Egypt during the revolution, meeting with Wael Ghonim, the Google employee whose arrest and imprisonment hours later would make him a PR-friendly symbol of the uprising in the Western press. Meetings had been planned in Palestine and Turkey, both of which—claimed Stratfor emails—were killed by the senior Google leadership as too risky. Only a few months before he met with me, Cohen was planning a trip to the edge of Iran in Azerbaijan to ‘engage the Iranian communities closer to the border,’ as part of Google Ideas’ project on repressive societies.”

A defiant Trump blasts TV news in private meeting — then snubs New York Times - The Washington Post:

"President-elect Donald Trump met Monday with television news executives and some well-known TV journalists and repeatedly told them that the campaign reporting about him was “unfair” and “dishonest.”

Participants in the meeting at Trump Tower in New York described it as a contentious but generally respectful gathering.

But if the media elite attended in hopes of improving relations with the forthcoming Trump administration, that wasn’t quite in the cards."

A Vanquished Press Fails To Comprehend Its Defeat by Trump

A Vanquished Press Fails To Comprehend Its Defeat by Trump - The New York Sun
"...I was prompted to examine the Obama record through the eyes of one of his most articulate supporters by my sharpish exchange with the editor of the New Yorker, David Remnick, on Fareed Zakaria’s television program two weeks ago.
Mr. Remnick said that he thought he was “hallucinating” when he heard me say that Donald Trump is neither a racist nor a sexist, and I replied that I had a similar sensation when I saw President Obama in the ten days before the election telling large crowds that Trump was an admirer of the Ku Klux Klan.
Image result for trump triumphant...Mr. Obama steadily receives an approval rating of between 50% and 55%, between 10 points and 20 points below FDR, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon pre-Watergate, Reagan, and, for the untroubled parts of his time, Bill Clinton.
But this is a levitation produced by his unusually fluent but detached personality, given that for the last six years two-thirds of Americans polled have steadily thought the country was going “in the wrong direction.”
...This, Mr. Remnick wrote, brought the elusive legacy to the fore. The legacy is: avoiding a depression, “rescuing the automobile industry,” Wall Street “reform,” Obamacare, marriage equality, “banning torture,” the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the end of the Iraq War, “heavy investment in renewable-energy technologies,” the appointment of Justices Sotomayor and Kagan to the Supreme Court, killing bin Laden, the Iran nuclear deal, the opening of Cuba, the Paris agreement on climate change, and two terms “long on dignity and short on scandal.”
So this is the legacy the president and his press-ubiquitous claque are clangorously raising heavenwards like a messianic effigy.

  • A depression was avoided by doubling 233 years of accumulated national debt in seven years to get an annual economic-growth rate of 1%, as 15 million people have dropped out of the work force.
  • The auto rescue could have been much better designed and even Chapter Eleven for Chrysler and General Motors would not have repudiated corporate bonds altogether, would have provided a pittance for the equity-holders rather than nothing, and would not have handed control of much of the industry to the self-destructively greedy United Auto Workers who were at least half the problem in the first place.
  • Wall Street “reform” has meant stifling red tape, a witch hunt among traders and fund managers but continued fiscal subsidization of those who substitute velocity of money-transactions in place of activities that add value, precisely the practice that Mr. Obama denounces elsewhere in Mr. Remnick’s article as creating the menace of increasing unemployment and income disparity, dangers that this administration has done nothing to allay.
  • “Banning torture” means stopping waterboarding, which is frightening but not painful and may, in some conditions, be justifiable in counterterrorism. “Marriage equality” is a state-by-state matter and the legalization was by the Supreme Court, and the whole issue is the applicability of the word “marriage,” not the right to same-sex civil union. Lilly Ledbetter, for the 99% of readers who would not know, involves the Supreme Court decision allowing limitations on claims of discriminatory pay-scales to begin at the last paycheck — hardly a ground-shaking tweak of the law, though a respectable reform.
  • Justices Sotomayor and Kagan are acceptable judges but no better than most confirmed under recent presidents of both parties. The whole court has gone to sleep while the Bill of Rights has putrefied, and there is no sign that Justice Kagan, an ex-solicitor general, will do anything about it.
  • “The end of the Iraq War” was thoughtlessly hasty and spawned the Islamic State, handed 60% of Iraqis to the overlordship of Iran, and helped generate an immense humanitarian crisis (a fact that Mr. Trump and Senator Sanders were the only presidential candidates to acknowledge).
  • The “opening of Cuba” just legitimized the Cuban seizure of American assets and accomplished nothing for anyone, least of all the victims of the Stalinist Castro regime.
  • The Paris climate-change agreement was unspecific piffle about an unproved threat.
  • Two relatively scandal-free terms could be said of all 13 previous two-full-term presidents except Grant and Mr. Clinton.
  • The elimination of bin Laden is conceded as a fine achievement, and Obamacare, “heavy investment in renewable-energy technologies,” and the Iran nuclear deal are all almost unmitigated disasters...

...Donald Trump is the oldest and wealthiest person elected president, the first not to have had a public office or high military command, the first to pay for his own campaign, and the first since Washington to waive his salary.
He has defeated the Clintons, the Bushes, the Obamas, and almost all the dishonest, myth-making national press (including David Remnick).
The national political press has declined even more precipitously than the political class, and the president-elect was elevated despite the animosity of both, a signal achievement whose significance those who have been vanquished show no signs of grasping.

Study showing 'Fake News' beating 'Real News' looks like garbage

"Fake news *beat* real news on Facebook over last 3 months of election," Ben Smith at Buzzfeed tweeted out. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke, File)Study showing 'Fake News' beating 'Real News' looks like garbage | Washington Examiner
"Fake news *beat* real news on Facebook over last 3 months of election," Ben Smith at Buzzfeed tweeted out.

Alex Wagner, newly named an anchor at CBS, tweeted "Here's a thing: viral fake news outperformed real news in the last 3 months of the election."
These tweets link to a Buzzfeed story headlined "Viral Fake Election News Outperformed Real News On Facebook In Final Months Of The US Election."

The story has interesting data about the proliferation of a few fake news stories, but it comes nowhere near proving the headline or Ben Smith's tweet, that Fake News Beat Real News.
The methodology is a mess in many ways.
The BuzzFeed study looked only at the top 20 election stories, in terms of engagement, by fake websites and compared it the top 20 election stories from a tiny list of mainstream sites.

The list included left-leaning opinion-heavy outlets like Huffington Post and Vox.

  • They didn't include Yahoo News and the Daily Mail, two of the most-read news sites in the U.S.
  • Also excluded: Reuters, BBC, Associated Press, Bloomberg, and, ahem, the Washington Examiner. You could add the Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune and the major newspapers in every city besides New York, L.A., and D.C.First, it doesn't measure how much traffic went to fake election stories versus real election stories — it only picks the top few stories in each genre.
  • Second, the study only chooses from a handful of mainstream sites. Third, the "Real News" stories often aren't real news at all—a point which doesn't undercut the conclusion as much as it shows the silliness of the comparison.
  • So the "Real News" numbers are from an incomplete, odd, and unexplained subsample of the media.

Also, the "Real News" isn't even Real News.
Look at the top "Real News" stories to which Buzzfeed compares the fake news stories.
Here's the top "Real News" stories:

  • "Trump's history of corruption is mind-boggling. So why is Clinton supposedly the corrupt one?" As the headline suggests, this is a liberal opinion piece, complaining that the media doesn't report enough on Trump's scandals.
  • No. 2 is "Stop Pretending You Don't Know Why People Hate Hillary Clinton." This is a rambling screed claiming that people only dislike Clinton because she is a woman.
  • The No. 3 "Real News" story is "Melania Trump's Girl-on-Girl Photos From Racy Shoot Revealed," published at the New York Post..."

DOJ Fines Denver Sheriff Dept. For Excluding Noncitizens When Hiring – For America:

"The Denver Sheriff Department will accept a penalty from the Department of Justice after a federal probe found it wrongly made U.S. citizenship a job requirement during a recent hiring spree.
The sheriff’s department — the biggest sheriff’s office in Colorado — will pay a $10,000 fine after it required applications for deputy sheriff jobs to be U.S. citizens when hiring from the beginning of 2015 through March 2016. The department went on a hiring spree of 200 deputies as part of its ongoing reform."

Pope Francis Equates Christianity to Communism

Pope Francis Equates Christianity to Communism:
"In an interview with Pope Francis published November 11 by the Italian newspaper, Repubblica, the supreme authority of the Catholic Church equated Christianity with Communism when asked about his views on Marxist ideology.
“It is the communists, in all cases, that think like Christians.
Christ has spoken of a society where the poor, the weak and the excluded are those who make the decisions.
Not the demagogues, or the barbarians, but rather the people and the poor that have faith in God or not that we have to help obtain equality and liberty.”
...There have been a variety of reactions following the Pope’s comparison between Christianity and the Communist ideology.
The Spanish journalist and writer Hermann Tertsch tweeted that, “The apology for a criminal ideology surprises at the Vatican. Although almost nothing there can surprise now.”
“It’s inconceivable that we attend so frivolous of a criminal ideology with 100 million murdered. From the Vatican,” Tertsch said. Source: ABC

Obama races to pass final slate of regulations - Convention of States

Obama races to pass final slate of regulations - Convention of States:

"The administration averages 2.2 new rules per day; last Tuesday and Wednesday they pushed 10 out the door. Rules have included more draconian restrictions on the oil and gas industry as well as measures aiming to help highly skilled immigrant workers get green cards.

The Obama administration has enacted over 20,000 new regulations since he took control of the White House. Congress would have to repeal 14 regulations a day over the next four years to tackle them all, and that’s assuming they work 365 days a year (which, obviously, they don’t)."

"Because the sovereign states created the federal government, they saw to it that the popular vote would not choose the president; indeed, it is the states who get to choose, by means of the Electoral College. The creation of the Electoral College was wise, for it acts, to this day, as a protection against corruption in the American electoral process.

For example, the outright entitlement of illegal-alien voting, along with many states’ lack of a voter-ID laws, encourages non-citizens to vote and allows vote-rigging Democrats to vote more than once under the names of dead people."

Fake News Site CNN Completely Misrepresents Quote, Rest of Lying Media Runs With It:

CNN has once again shown themselves to be a fake news site.
Someone alert that feminist cat lady.
From The Daily Caller:

CNN made a false claim Monday afternoon and various journalists ran wild with it.
It all started with a segment on CNN’s The Lead which quoted prominent white nationalist figure Richard Spencer as wondering if Jews were actually people.

CNN host Jim Sciutto said, “of Jews Spencer said, ‘one wonders if these people are people at all, or instead soulless golem.'”
“That is an alt right leader Richard Spencer talking about Jews,” Sciutto added. CNN then had a panel with RealClearPolitics’ Rebecca Berg and The Boston Globe’s Matt Viser with the chyron “ALT-RIGHT FOUNDER QUESTIONS IF JEWS ARE PEOPLE.”
Except, Spencer did not make those remarks about Jews and was instead talking about political consultants on television.

Loyola Maryland: 'America' Party Is Too Offensive

Loyola Maryland: 'America' Party Is Too Offensive | The Daily Caller:
"Student government leaders at Loyola University Maryland faced a barrage of pressure from the university administration to change the theme of a senior class party described as “very alienating, divisive and harmful” and against the university’s “core values,” according to emails provided to The Daily Caller.
The theme?
America.
The theme for Loyola’s annual “Senior 200s” party — one of four celebrations exclusive to seniors held throughout the year — was based upon a survey of Loyola seniors taken last summer.
The party was held on Nov. 18 and went off without a hitch, according to students who attended, despite warnings that the administration might have to get involved if students were offended.
...Right before the presidential election, some student government members wondered if they should nix the America theme if Donald Trump won, according to internal SGA group chats shared with TheDC on condition of anonymity for the same reason.
...The day after Trump’s victory, a handful of students messaged SGA representatives to argue that — because of Trump’s victory — an America-themed party was now inappropriate.
One female student claimed she was “a victim of horrible hate words” and worried that similar mean things might be said at the party if the theme wasn’t changed.
...The university’s executive vice president, Susan Donovan sent an email to two SGA members claiming she “talked with a number of students and heard from faculty members” about the party. “None of it is positive and it sounds very alienating, divisive and harmful.”...

Media Malpractice? Media Bias And The 2016 Election

Media Malpractice? Media Bias And The 2016 Election | Stock News & Stock Market Analysis - IBD
"Election Day demonstrated, the contentious 2016 presidential campaign witnessed a stunning uprising of the people against the Washington establishment and political elite.
This was not the only revolt that transpired Nov. 8, however.
Election Day also represented a victory of the American people over the establishment news media, as they repudiated its liberal bias and attempt at influencing the election.
Image result for liberal mediaThroughout the election cycle, Donald Trump and his supporters were derided for claiming that the mainstream media was "rigged" against the Republican candidate in favor of his opponent.
But given the way Election Day unfolded, with Trump pulling off an upset victory despite being written off by much of the media, the allegations of media bias may not have been so far-fetched.
Evidence Of Media Bias
Even before Election Day, many asserted that Trump faced an unfair amount of negative press, as the media published story after story painting him as a racist, xenophobe and just about every other horrible name in the book. Case in point, throughout the campaign, the Huffington Post published the following editor's note at the end of stories about Mr. Trump:
Editor's note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S..."
