1848 - The steamboat SS California left New York Harbor for San Francisco via Cape Horn. The steamboat service arrived on February 28, 1849. The trip took 4 months and 21 days.


1880 - The National League kicked the Cincinnati Reds out for selling beer.


1889 - In Paris, the Moulin Rouge opened its doors to the public for the first time.

"A touch of asphalt may be the secret to high-capacity lithium metal batteries that charge 10 to 20 times faster than commercial lithium-ion batteries, according to Rice University scientists.
The Rice lab of chemist James Tour developed anodes comprising porous carbon made from asphalt that showed exceptional stability after more than 500 charge-discharge cycles. 
...The material was developed at Rice University and shows promise for high-capacity lithium batteries that charge 20 times faster than commercial lithium-ion batteries.
“The capacity of these batteries is enormous, but what is equally remarkable is that we can bring them from zero charge to full charge in five minutes, rather than the typical two hours or more needed with other batteries,” Tour said..."

Paul Blair, strategic initiatives director with Americans for Tax Reform, discusses how homeowners on fixed incomes unable to pay their tax burden -- the cost of the upgrades are rolled into their property taxes -- are finding themselves homeless, as cities take over the homes for unpaid taxes, and banks and cities (and thus taxpayers) are left holding the bag. Cities and states that started this boondoggle are now shutting down the program, which does nothing to prevent climate change."

Below is the millage information, what it doesn’t tell you is that it’s a ploy to fund the Sheriff’s office and its overpriced new jail that we were forced to get without a public vote, so the fine people running the County crafted a very ingenious way for you to fund it without you even knowing it. 
If the millage passes the funding will not increase any youth or family services it will maintain its current status quo and reroute the current funds allocated for it to offset the Sheriff’s office 1.7Million deficit and other county functions.
