The Trump dossier was Clinton’s dirtiest political trick | New York Post

The Trump dossier was Clinton’s dirtiest political trick | New York Post:
"And so the worm turns. Make that worms.
Just as key congressional panels open new probes into the still-smoking debris of last year’s election, the revelation that Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee paid as much as $9 million for the discredited Russian dossier on Donald Trump flips the collusion script on its head.
Now it’s Democrats’ turn in the barrel.
Image result for nixon hillaryThe explosive report in the Washington Post goes a long way to explaining how the dossier was so widely spread among political reporters during the election.
The Clinton camp must have passed it out like Halloween candy to its media handmaidens.
News organizations tried for months to confirm the salacious details, but couldn’t.
The document became public when BuzzFeed, a loud Clinton booster, published it 10 days before the inauguration, while acknowledging it couldn’t verify the contents.
The Post report provides possible answers to other questions, too.
Because Clinton’s team paid for the dossier, it’s likely that she gave it to the FBI, where James Comey planned to hire the former British agent who had compiled it to keep digging dirt on Trump.
The finding also raises the possibility that the dossier is what led the Obama White House to snoop on members of Trump’s team, and leak the “unmasked” names to the anti-Trump media in a bid to help Clinton.
In short, we now have compelling evidence that the dossier was the largest and dirtiest dirty trick of the 2016 campaign. And Clinton, who has played the victim card ever since her loss, was behind it the whole time.
Anybody surprised?
Me neither."

Undermining America - Walter E. Williams

Undermining America - Walter E. Williams:
"Our nation's leftist progressives have long sought to undermine the American values expressed in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
...Students at the University of Virginia want to remove the statue of Thomas Jefferson, the university's founder. Students at the University of Missouri also want Jefferson's statue gone.
Why?
He was a slave owner.
Many in the college community supported Sen. Bernie Sanders' presidential bid.
They welcomed Sanders' belief that the United States was founded on "racist principles."
There have also been calls for the removal of George Washington's and Abraham Lincoln's statues. Some have called for the renaming of schools that honor Washington, Jefferson and 11 other slave-owning presidents.
Leftists have called for the renaming of streets named after slave-owning presidents.
There have been many leftist calls for the elimination of Columbus Day.
Their success at getting Confederate statues taken down has emboldened them.
What goes unappreciated is just why America's leftists' movement attacks the Founders.
If they can delegitimize the Founders themselves, it goes a long way toward their agenda of delegitimizing the founding principles of our nation.
If the leftists can convince the nation that men such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were good-for-nothing slave-owning racists, then their ideas can be more easily trashed.
We find the greatest assaults on our founding documents on the nation's college campuses..."

Since then, that figure has risen to 400 scientific papers."

"Did I get your attention???......... Good.
Now let's be very clear..........the meme in no way seeks to minimise the serious problem of sexual assault or harassment.
Nor is it a not-so subtle jab at the proclivity of certain Middle Eastern men to take the idea of animal husbandry a little too seriously.
The memes purpose is to point a finger squarely at the moral vacuity of the MeToo movement.
#MeToo perfectly encapsulates the Left's love of virtue signalling over actual efforts to address an issue.
Like so many issues the Left embrace, it has the form of virtue without any of its substance.
Unlike the #MeToo crowd, the actresses who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and misconduct, showed real courage in naming the person who assaulted or harassed them.
#MeToo allows the individual to flaunt their victim-hood credentials without the concomitant courage of exposing the identity of those who degrade and use women..."

MEDC Downplayed Pure Michigan Return On Investment Claims? Oh Really [Michigan Capitol Confidential]

MEDC Downplayed Pure Michigan Return On Investment Claims? Oh Really [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
Secretive numbers used in claims have headlined many tales told to reporters and lawmakers
"David Lorenz is the Michigan Economic Development Corporation official in charge of the state agency’s Travel Michigan tourism promotion bureau.
Lorenz said in a recent news article that he wants to make sure the $35 million spent on Pure Michigan ads is used wisely.
Image result for this is ridiculous memeThe MEDC recently ended its relationship with Longwoods International, a company that provided alleged rate-of-return calculations on how much the ads added to state economic activity and tax collections.
Longwoods’ most recent report stated that the state received more than $8 in additional tax dollars for every dollar spent on Pure Michigan promotions.
(The ads must have got better, because in 2010, Longwoods and the MEDC were claiming just an extra $2.23 collected per dollar spent.)
There’s just one catch:
The company and the MEDC refuse to divulge the methods used to come up with those numbers, saying the process contained proprietary information.
Essentially, what they have told both taxpayers and policymakers is, “Trust us.”
Yet Lorenz now says he never focused on how much return on investment the state gets from its Pure Michigan tourism campaign.
“People always focus on the (ROI) numbers. I never have,” Lorenz said in a Crain’s Detroit Business article..."

Michigan Dems pushing bills to address 'literacy crisis' | MLive.com:
Image result for what could possibly go wrong"Saying Michigan is facing a "literacy crisis," a group of Democrats in the state House of Representatives are pushing legislation that would pump more dollars into programs they say will help the state's youngest learners read better.
The six-bill package would expand the number of children eligible to participate in Michigan's state-funded preschool program, take additional steps to identify and support kindergarten students who are behind in reading, and increase funding for health and early childhood education professionals to conduct home visits designed to prepare young children for school.
Rep. Darrin Camilleri, a Democrat from Wayne County who's among the lead sponsors of the bills, said it's unclear how much the legislation would cost. It's important, though, that the bills are considered because "these are really good ideas to address the literacy crisis we have here in Michigan," he said..."

Canada: Immigrant Found Not Guilty Of Raping Wife Because He Thought He Was Allowed To | Daily Wire:
"Multiculturalism without assimilation has serious implications for a society, particularly one which wishes to appease assaults on their native culture and values under the guise of tolerance.
This takes shape often in the realm of women's rights.
In one such example of this, a Canada man, an immigrant from the Middle East, was found not guilty of raping his wife because he was under the impression that he could have sex with her whenever he wanted, even when it was nonconsensual.
Ontario Superior Court Justice Robert Smith acknowledged that numerous occasions of sexual intercourse between the couple were indeed nonconsensual, but said he could not convict the husband because of the lack of criminal intent, or mens rea..."

GAO Relies On Steyer-Funded Climate Study | The Daily Caller

GAO Relies On Steyer-Funded Climate Study | The Daily Caller
"Congressional auditors released a report on the “potential economic effects of climate change” that relied heavily on research funded, in part, by a foundation tied to the Democratic Party’s single largest political donor.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a major report on the future impacts of global warming. Sens. Maria Cantwell of Washington and Susan Collins of Maine asked GAO to do the report.
GAO’s report relied on interviews with 26 unnamed experts and two studies to make its recommendation that federal agencies use information on future global warming to “take an initial step in establishing government-wide priorities to manage such risks.”
The media is already trumpeting the report as a repudiation of the Trump administration.
The Associated Press claimed “Climate change already costing U.S. billions, GAO report says,” and The Los Angeles Times reported Trump’s inaction on climate change carries a big price tag, federal report finds.”
However, one of the studies GAO relied, called the American Climate Prospectus, was funded in part by the the Risky Business Project, which is in turn backed by a foundation founded by former hedge fund billionaire Tom Steyer.
...Steyer was the single largest political donor in the 2016 election cycle, contributing more than $91 million to Democrats and liberals, according to the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP).
Steyer gained notoriety funding anti-fossil fuel campaigns, starting with his opposition to the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
Steyer also founded NextGen Climate Action, which was created to making global warming a top tier election issue..."

But as the Hill notes, none of this information was made public before the Obama administration approved the sale."

Bias Response Teams Thwarted in Their Goal of a Sensitive Campus by the First Amendment - Reason.com:
Protesters bang on drums, hold signs"The Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice released a first-of-its kind study on bias response teams, a relatively new invention in the ever-expanding world of college free speech management.
Interviews with administrators who police and discipline students who have used insensitive language or display insensitive attitudes reveal their frustration with the free speech guarantees that prevent them from punishing students.
The First Amendment, some of them say, constrains them from creating sensitive, inclusive communities.
The study is strangely hand-waving and feel-good, concluding, with little evidence, that bias response teams "created a safer, more welcoming campus community."
And it fails to fully address the cost at which all this inclusivity comes..."

According to crime statistics, crime across the U.K. was up 13%, with much of it in London. Rape, robbery and violent offenses have surged dramatically. Figures like these have risen in many European countries, with Sweden becoming “Europe’s rape capital,” Germany’s steep rise in violent and political crimes, and Paris’s frequent terror attacks.

With that information, among much more, Trump, like most of us, drew an easy conclusion from a common denominator — the spread of radical Islam, especially through Europe’s ever-increasing number of Muslim refugees taken in per year."

Important reading for virtue-signaling electric car-drivers

Important reading for virtue-signaling electric car-drivers
"One of the most comforting fantasies common to affluent liberals is that they are "saving the world" by driving an expensive rechargeable electric car.
In fact, they are doing the opposite, with their desire to signal their virtue causing intense human suffering on the part of some of the most powerless people on the planet.
...My worries about rechargeable electric cars center on the toxic raw materials needed to manufacture powerful lithium-ion batteries, which are the most expensive component of electric vehicles.
For one thing, when a battery is spent (and they do wear out after a certain number of recharges), recycling the heavy metals and other ingredients is expensive, dangerous, and absolutely necessary. Putting these batteries in a landfill is the last thing any decent human being wants, but it is far, far cheaper than properly disposing of the time bomb that is a lithium-ion battery.
Of all the raw materials necessary for these batteries, probably the most problematic is cobalt.
All the smug, affluent drivers of Teslas, Nissan Leafs, and BMW i3s (the most popular models in Berkeley) need to think about how the cobalt in their batteries got to the factory.
The U.K. Daily Mail reports:
Almost every big motor manufacturer striving to produce millions of electric vehicles buys its cobalt from the impoverished central African state [i.e., the Democratic Republic of the Congo]. It is the world's biggest producer, with 60 per cent of the planet's reserves.
The cobalt is mined by unregulated labour and transported to Asia where battery manufacturers use it to make their products lighter, longer-lasting and rechargeable..."
