"Outrage is growing in California against newly approved sex education materials in public schools.
“It’s shocking,” Rebecca Friedrichs, the founder of For Kids & Country, told The Christian Post.
She said one school had 10- and 11-year-old girls participate in a “condom race” in which they ran, in front of male classmates, to be the first to put a condom on a model of an erect adult male penis.
...National Catholic Register reports the concerns center around changes approved by the California Board of Education in May.
The programs are supposed to comply with the 2015 California Healthy Youth Act, “which mandates the teaching of ‘medically accurate’ and ‘age appropriate’ comprehensive sex education at least once in middle school and once in high school,” according to the report."

  • AAUP: ‘Right-wing effort to disempower public higher education’

See the source image"In the past few years more than a half-dozen states have passed laws that aim to protect free speech and intellectual diversity on college campuses, but a nationwide faculty advocacy group has come out against those laws and similar efforts pending in other states.
The American Association of University Professors calls the laws “restrictive” and states on its website they are not about protecting the First Amendment but actually “one piece of a much larger well-funded, right-wing effort to disempower public higher education in the United States.”
...During a video meeting the group hosted Friday, two of its members argued the laws are “solutions in search of a problem” and said there is no free speech problem on campuses today.
...The video conference featured Risa Lieberwitz, professor of labor and employment law at Cornell University and AAUP’s general counsel, who also criticized the laws because they threaten sanctions against major disruptions of guest speakers on campus..."

Sure, Boris Johnson, could use a comb. But he’s already got what matters most in a leader and ally: a backbone.
With Johnson as its new British Prime Minister, the United Kingdom can expect a bolder and more self-confident foreign policy. And the changes he makes will likely be welcomed in Washington.
Here are the top six foreign policy “resets” we can expect to see from the new PM:

Alzheimer’s in Michigan: The coming storm | Bridge Magazine
"KENTWOOD—Just about every morning and evening, Wayne Goates makes his way to visit the woman he fell hard for in college.
From all outward signs, she has no idea who he is.
“The commitment and the romance is still there,” Goates says of his wife, Kristie, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 13 years ago.
Image result for Alzheimer’sConservatively, Goates figures he’s put in at least 20,000 hours tending to his wife in the years since her diagnosis.
She has been in a dementia care wing of a Kentwood nursing home nearly seven years, at $6,500 a month, with the total bill now running past $400,000.
“...This can be devastating financially.
For some people, it absolutely overwhelms them.”
In a state that’s aging faster than the rest of the nation, that’s likely to be the case for alarming numbers of aging Michigan baby boomers – born between 1946 and 1964 – and their families.
...In 2018, Alzheimer’s patients in Michigan accounted for more than $6 billion in Medicaid and Medicare charges, and another $7.4 billion in uncompensated care from more than 500,000 family members of Alzheimer’s patients.
...The share of residents older than 85 is projected to more than double between 2015 and 2045.
...“Michigan is not ready for this. I don’t think anybody is ready for what is to come,” said Jennifer Lepard, president and chief executive officer of the Alzheimer's Association-Greater Michigan Chapter..."

NYT: Boeing Was Certifying Its Own Safety For the 737 Max - Slashdot

Image result for government failNYT: Boeing Was Certifying Its Own Safety For the 737 Max - Slashdot
"Boeing's 737 Max was built with "effectively neutered" oversight, writes the New York Times, citing interviews with over a dozen current and former employees at America's Federal Aviation Agency.
Their damning conclusion?
The agency "had never independently assessed the risks of the dangerous software known as MCAS when they approved the plane in 2017."The regulator had been passing off routine tasks to manufacturers for years, with the goal of freeing up specialists to focus on the most important safety concerns. But on the Max, the regulator handed nearly complete control to Boeing, leaving some key agency officials in the dark about important systems like MCAS, according to the current and former employees...The company performed its own assessments of the system, which were not stress-tested by the regulator...
The article ends by describing the days after the first 737 Max crash, when Boeing executives visited the regulatory agency's headquarters in Seattle.
"The officials sat incredulous as Boeing executives explained details about the system that they didn't know."

Suppressing testosterone levels in male athletes isn’t enough to eliminate their natural advantages over female athletes, according to a recently published paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics.
The paper’s findings contradict congressional Democrats’ claim that male athletes who identify as transgender don’t have an inherent advantage over their female competitors.

"...Trump's a racist
It's an evergreen title, isn't it?
The latest kerfuffle involves Trump's attack on Rep. Elijah Cummings who wants to dish it out and not take it.
Cummings was snarking off on the border, a favorite talking point, and Trump responded about the hot mess that is his Baltimore district.
"Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.
If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place," Trump tweeted.
And that's racist.
Because Cummings is black and you aren't allowed to say anything to certain people who are protected.
The protected crowd are designated minorities who are Democrats.
Women, Hispanic Americans, African Americans, LGBTQ  etc. who are NOT leftists are allowed and encouraged to be attacked..."

Who Cut the Balls Off San Francisco? - Taki's Magazine - Taki's Magazine

See the source imageWho Cut the Balls Off San Francisco? - Taki's Magazine - Taki's Magazine
"...So now San Francisco is banning e-cigarettes, because a City Council member discovered there are still people making personal decisions about what to do with their lives.
They’ve been trying to eliminate these people for three decades now, but some individuals just refuse to learn.
It’s been a year or so since I wrote about San Francisco’s ban on the sale of fur in a move that does nothing for animals but destroys businesses that have been established there since the 19th century.
Unfortunately I can’t really devote 52 columns a year to cataloguing products banned by San Francisco.
In the past they’ve outlawed
  • plastic bags,
  • clove cigarettes,
  • Coke machines,
  • bottled-water machines, people playing stickball in the street,
  • people playing chess in the street,
  • pet stores,
  • goldfish,
  • masked balls, and
  • the practice of letting your dog stick his head halfway out the window while you’re driving.
  • Long ago they banned toys being given away with Happy Meals at McDonald’s.
  • There are several states that have been under sanction by San Francisco at various times, with city employees forbidden from traveling on official business to Arizona, Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota, or my home state of Texas.
  • ....It’s illegal to ride a Segway in San Francisco,
  • to package food with Styrofoam,
  • to declaw a cat, or to s
  • erve chocolate milk in schools.
  • No one in government is allowed to make any contract with any company that uses tropical hardwood—“Get the rugs out! The floor inspectors are coming over!”—and
  • no school is allowed to offer Junior ROTC because young people who want to follow their families into military service are probably deranged.
  • Don’t try to walk more than eight dogs at a time—even if they’re toy poodles and Chihuahuas—and
  • don’t give your 5-year-old a slingshot for his birthday, because that’s an illegal weapon.

...Juul is a San Francisco company, so once again the city is eating its young, trying to legislate out of existence a $2 billion local firm that employs 1,500 people.
...In some ways San Francisco’s descent into madness is self-correcting, because eventually so many groups will be pointing fingers at so many other groups, demanding lifestyle alterations designed to create healthy specimens of Correct Living, that the whole peninsula will devolve into something resembling the Soviet Union in 1965, if they’re lucky, and Venezuela in 2019 if they’re not..."

Why Do Democrats Run All Of The Dangerous And Rodent Infested Cities?

Image result for elijah cummings baltimore investigationWhy Do Democrats Run All Of The Dangerous And Rodent Infested Cities?
"Congressman Elijah Cummings may honestly believe that his district in West Baltimore doesn’t stink.
But it does.
I’ve been there, I’ve seen and smelled it.
Bernie Sanders called it “the third world" back in 2016.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
Especially to those bathed, clothed, and dipped in the intoxication of corrupt power, but that’s why sunlight is so helpful.
And disinfecting!
Rep. Cummings, while being very obsessed with Russia, seems utterly bewildered with the idea that anyone could dare question why so many billions of federal dollars flow to places like West Baltimore when they are obviously doing no good.
Look at other cities in similar dilapidation and there holds a unique truth:
Democrats run them all.
Image result for Baltimore Destruction...For Baltimore it’s been this way for decades.
And the only reason that Elijah Cummings got passionate about the issue, isn’t because it’s true.
It’s because he got called out on it, by someone who is working to make America better for everybody.
...But Democrats who lives in these cities already know that.
They live in the land of corrupt squander every waking day."

Woman set to replace Puerto Rico's governor doesn't want job

Woman set to replace Puerto Rico's governor doesn't want job
"SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — The woman who is supposed to replace Puerto Rico’s embattled governor announced Sunday that she doesn’t want the job as the U.S. territory reels from political crisis.
Justice Secretary Wanda Vázquez said in a Twitter post that she hopes Gov. Ricardo Rosselló will appoint a secretary of state before resigning Aug. 2 as planned.
See the source imageFormer Secretary of State Luis Rivera Marín would have been next in line as governor, according to the U.S. territory’s constitution.
But he is one of more than a dozen officials who have resigned in recent weeks
Marín’s resignation had left Vázquez as next in line to be governor.
But she said she has already told Rosselló about her wishes not to get the job, creating a chaotic scenario about who will be Puerto Rico’s next leader.
If Rosselló’s choice for a secretary of state is not approved by the island’s House and Senate, Puerto Rico’s law dictates the treasury secretary would be next in line if the justice secretary doesn’t become governor.
But current Treasury Secretary Francisco Parés is too young at 31 years old.
The constitution dictates the person would have to be at least 35, so that would leave interim Education Secretary Eligio Hernández next in line.
He replaced former education secretary Julia Keleher, who resigned in April and was arrested July 10 on federal corruption charges.
...Vázquez’s comments came less than an hour after Public Affairs Secretary Anthony Maceira resigned.
...The announcement comes a day before Puerto Ricans planned another march, this time against Vázquez, who is accused of not ordering an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of supplies for hurricane victims, among other things.
