"The only Americans who can legitimately object to immigration are native Indian-Americans, President Barack Obama told his Chicago audience Nov. 24, as he made an impassioned ideological plea for endless immigration, cultural diversity and a big government to manage the resulting multicultural society."

The Life and Times of the Thanksgiving Turkey: He Never Saw It Coming

The Life and Times of the Thanksgiving Turkey: He Never Saw It Coming
The Black Swan Theory is used by Nassim Nicholas Taleb to explain the existence and occurrence of high-impact, hard-to-predict, and rare events that are beyond the realm of normal expectations.
One example often put forth by Taleb is the life and times of the Thanksgiving Turkey.
The turkey spends the majority of its life enjoying daily feedings from a caring farmer.
Weeks go by, and it’s the same thing day-in-day-out for the Turkey.
Free food.
Open range grazing.
Good times all around.
The thinking turkey may even surmise that the farmer has a vested interest in keeping the turkey alive.
For the turkey, it is a symbiotic relationship. “The farmer feeds me and keeps me happy, and I keep the farmer happy,” says the turkey.
“The farmer needs me, otherwise, why would he be taking care of me?”
This goes on for a 1,000 days.
Then, two days before Thanksgiving on Day 1,001, the farmer shows up again.
But this time he doesn’t come bearing food, but rather, he’s wielding an ax.
This is a black swan event — for the turkey.
By definition, it is a high-impact, hard-to-predict, and rare event for the turkey, who not only never saw it coming, but never even contemplated the possibility that it could occur.
For the farmer, on the other hand, this was not a black swan event.
The farmer knew all along why he was feeding the turkey, and what the end result would be.
The very nature of black swan events make them almost impossible to predict.
The point of this parable is to put forth the idea that sometimes we are the Thanksgiving turkey and understanding this may make it easier to begin to, at the very least, contemplate the possibility of far-from-equilibrium events.
This year, when you enjoy that drumstick or Turkey breast, give thanks to the latest victim of the black swan for being non-contemplative, otherwise, he may have bugged-out long ago and you’d be eating a chicken instead.

When You Read What Mexico Had Planned, You May Never Vacation There Again

When You Read What Mexico Had Planned, You May Never Vacation There Again:

"The National Immigration Institute (INAMI) in Mexico implemented a program that would require any visitor who was in Mexico for 7 days or longer, or who was going for paid work, to pay a fee of nearly $30. This applies to those crossing by foot, not yet applicable to car, through port of entries in Otay, San Ysidro/El Chaparral and Puerta Mexico Este.

The rationale behind their decision is even more astounding."

Should You Fear Your Thanksgiving Dinner?

The Center for Accountability in Science | Should You Fear Your Thanksgiving Dinner?
A Thanksgiving staple, pumpkin pie presents a cornucopia of trouble for activist groups.
If you use canned pumpkin, you may be exposing your guests to BPA. (Still safe).
The pie may also contain HFCS or GMOs—depending if you make it fresh or buy it frozen. Regardless of how you decide to enjoy your holiday dessert, it’s safe to eat.
The holiday season is a prime time for activist groups to whip up fears about the contents of your Thanksgiving meal.
But before you spurn your mother’s green bean casserole or turn down non-organic turkey, check out our slide show that cuts through the activist fear-mongering and explains why you shouldn’t be afraid to enjoy your favorite seasonal treats.

Time For Republicans To Go On Offense | The Daily Caller

Time For Republicans To Go On Offense | The Daily Caller:

"On one hand, part of me is rooting for someone to stand up to the president over his recent constitutional encroachments. The problem is that, though merited, such a thing would likely be ineffective, and would also come with an opportunity cost.

Having just won the Senate, rather than playing defense by continuing to react to Obama’s provocations, Republicans might do well to start playing their own game for a change."

The "film and arts world"?????-----Why blacks are urging a Black Friday boycott

Think about this for a second.
These black millionaires are telling poor folks to avoid store discount sales so the millionaires can feel better about themselves.
And the media will tell us this is "brave" and "wise" advice.

Why blacks are urging a Black Friday boycott (Opinion) - CNN.com
(CNN) -- Once again, the streets are electric with anger after a white police officer evades charges for fatally shooting a black man.
Sirens screech and wood batons push back marchers protesting from Missouri to New York to Los Angeles.
This time the cadence of "No Justice, No Peace" has been replaced with "Hand's Up. Don't Shoot."
But there was another sign raised above the crowd in a recent protest in New York:
"Doing Nothing with Saying Nothing.
Changes Nothing."
The mathematics of this one are clear.
Something's gotta give.
A loose network led by African Americans in the film and arts world has emerged from the fog of tear gas to call for a quiet riot in response: a boycott of Black Friday shopping.
....."We've got to fight the powers that be!" proclaimed Public Enemy's Chuck D in 1989.
With the embers of Ferguson still smoldering, it is clear that the struggle continues.
But by taking their purchasing power away on retailers' favorite day of the year, the voice of blacks in America, and their allies, may echo more loudly in its absence from shopping malls and big box stores.

Two New York Times Reporters Posted Darren Wilson’s Home Address. Look Here To See THEIR Home Addresses

Two New York Times Reporters Posted Darren Wilson’s Home Address. Look Here To See THEIR Home Addresses. | John Hawkins' Right Wing News:
Since the Grand Jury verdict in Ferguson, there have been riots, looting, assaults, guns fired and cars and businesses burned to the ground.
Meanwhile, all the criminals and thugs doing this are baying for policeman Darren Wilson’s blood because they don’t like the fact he had his day in court and evidence wasn’t strong enough to bring the case to trial.
bosmanSo, in this violent environment, when the life of Darren Wilson and his new wife are in danger, the New York Times is attempting to impose the death penalty on him via newspaper by publishing his home address.
It was a disgusting, despicable, immoral act and the two reporters responsible, Julie Bosman and Campbell Robertson, deserve to lose their careers over what they did.
Of course, this is the New York Times, so they’re unlikely to pay any sort of penalty.
Still, I thought they deserved to pay a price.
Well, it turns out researcher extraordinaire Charles Johnson felt the same way. He acquired the home addresses of both reporters and posted them at Gotnews.
New York Times reporters Julie Bosman and Campbell Robertson published the address of Darren Wilson in the New York Times so here are their addresses.

…It would be wrong, for example, to publish Bosman’s address at

5620 N WAYNE AVE APT 2
CHICAGO, IL 60660-4204
COOK COUNTY

It would be similarly wrong to publish the address of Robertson, too.

1113 N DUPRE ST
NEW ORLEANS, LA 70119-3203
ORLEANS COUNTY

So why do journalists think they are beyond examination?

Michigan Health Care Costs Set To Skyrocket In 2015, Detroit & Lansing Regions To Be Hit With Double Digit Increases | Congressman Bill Huizenga:

Our wonderful Country

I'm sitting at a McDonalds (Honeybunch's Mom doesn't have Wi-Fi) and I marvel at our amazing America.
The restaurant is open all day.
Filled with boisterous, cheerful employees.
Young, old, white, minority.
Having fun while working.
Maybe they'd prefer to be home with family and friends.
Maybe they don't have that option.
But they do what's necessary.
This is what our country is all about.
Not Ferguson, Mo.

Happy Thanksgiving

Private property and the Pilgrims

Private property and the Pilgrims - The Washington Post

"There is much to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. One lesson of the holiday that we should try not to forget is how the Pilgrims were saved from starvation and misery by private property rights.
Economist Benjamin Powell summarizes the story here:
Many people believe that after suffering through a severe winter, the Pilgrims’ food shortages were resolved the following spring when the Native Americans taught them to plant corn and a Thanksgiving celebration resulted. In fact, the pilgrims continued to face chronic food shortages for three years until the harvest of 1623. Bad weather or lack of farming knowledge did not cause the pilgrims’ shortages. Bad economic incentives did.
In 1620 Plymouth Plantation was founded with a system of communal property rights. Food and supplies were held in common and then distributed based on equality and need as determined by Plantation officials. People received the same rations whether or not they contributed to producing the food, and residents were forbidden from producing their own food. Governor William Bradford, in his 1647 history, Of Plymouth Plantation, wrote that this system was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. The problem was that “young men, that were most able and fit for labour, did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children without any recompense.” Because of the poor incentives, little food was produced.
Faced with potential starvation in the spring of 1623, the colony decided to implement a new economic system. Every family was assigned a private parcel of land. They could then keep all they grew for themselves….
This change, Bradford wrote, had very good success, for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been. Giving people economic incentives changed their behavior….
Once the Pilgrims in the Plymouth Plantation abandoned their communal economic system and adopted one with greater individual property rights, they never again faced the starvation and food shortages of the first three years. It was only after allowing greater property rights that they could feast without worrying that famine was just around the corner.
For a more detailed account of the Pilgrims’ transition to private property, see here. In my 2010 post on this subject, I explained why the lessons of the Pilgrims’ experience with property rights are in no way vitiated by the fact that the Plymouth Plantation was a corporation.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!"

American King

By Tammy Derouin

The way power was seized wasn’t surprising.  Much like all of his other actions, it was done in a cowardly manor.  Instead of coming out and stating who he was and what he believed, he hid in the shadows.  He lured unsuspecting victims into his van by waving candy.  He then waved candy or possibly incriminating information in front of any person or group who could have stopped him.  This kind of story rarely ends well.  But, I still believe Americans are exceptional.

Maybe we should check the Drama Department at Columbia University.  That was some pretty slick acting.  His borage of American sentiment at the end of his edict was like watching a grand finale of fireworks, without the feel good feeling, of course.  He said it all so quickly, like he didn’t want any false, pro-American words to linger on his tongue.  I bet the last thing he wanted to say was, God Bless America.  So if he washed his mouth out with soap after his speech, that’s fine.  I felt the need to do some serious disinfecting after subjecting myself to that kind of wickedness.

Jonathan Gruber warned of Obamacare premium spike as president promised savings

Jonathan Gruber warned of Obamacare premium spike as president promised savings - Washington Times:
While President Obama campaigned on a promise that his universal health care plan would lower premiums, his controversial adviser and plan architect was privately warning the state of Wisconsin that Obamacare was poised to massively increase insurance costs for average residents, internal documents show.
Jonathan Gruber, the MIT economist currently under fire for suggesting theObama administration tried to deceive the public about the Affordable Care Act, was hired by former Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle in 2010 to conduct an analysis on how the federal health-care reform would impact the state.
