License to Dye :: SteynOnline

License to Dye :: SteynOnline:
"The New York Times reports on "the spirit of camaraderie in hair salons":
"They say that the hairdresser gets all the secrets," Ms. Smith said. "They let go here. Everybody doesn't talk, but once you build a relationship with someone, that's when it happens. It's just like when you have a best girlfriend."
A new state rule taking effect on Jan. 1 recognizes that the unique relationship between hairdressers and their customers may help curb domestic abuse and sexual assault. The amendment to a law that governs the cosmetology industry will require salon workers to take one hour of training every two years to recognize the signs of abuse and assault and will provide them with a list of resources to which they can refer clients for help.
Without the training, cosmetologists in Illinois will not be able to renew their licenses. The professionals covered by the rule — believed to be the first in the nation — include hairstylists, nail technicians and aestheticians.
Let's just run that again:
In Illinois, if you don't do your domestic-abuse training course every two years, you'll lose your hairdressing license - and your livelihood..."

Gangster government and the unreported Operation Choke Point

Gangster government and the unreported Operation Choke Point
The "Renegade Republican" Dan Bongino can’t believe this story is being ignored.
Filling in for CR's editor in chief on "The Mark Levin Show," Bongino brought attention to a story from The Wall Street Journal about Operation Choke Point — the Obama-Lynch Justice Department’s scandalous, mafia-like extortion of businesses the Left loves to target.
Listen:

“Operation Choke Point,” Bongino explained, “was the Obama administration’s effort to get banks to stop providing funding mechanisms and banking services to industries they didn’t like.”
What kind of industries?
Ammo manufacturers and firearms companies, for example, are legal enterprises Attorney General Loretta Lynch's Department of (in)Justice stifled by cutting off their ability to access financial services.
“They weren’t talking about industries that were breaking the law,” Bongino clarified.
“They were talking about industries they didn’t like.”
“You are using the monopolistic power of force!” said Bongino.
How is that any different from a mob shakedown?
And have you heard anything about Operation Choke Point from the mainstream media?

"It has been years of repeated slights, snide remarks, whispered innuendo, and ongoing nods and winks at the expense of the only democratic nation in the Middle East, a place where women, minorities, and the LGBT community are allowed to live in freedom.

And yet, here is the Obama administration attacking Israel and its people for their Jewish faith."

Here's seven of the most absurd 'academic' studies of 2016 - The College Fix
"...Here’s a handful of the most absurd academic studies seen in 2016, many of them brought to light by the invaluable Twitter account New Real Peer Review:
...Allmark received a $530,000 grant spanning four years to study the “communication of intergenerational welfare dependency.”
Are men culturally appropriating cupcakes from women? According to Prof. Irina Michalache of the University of Toronto, the “versatility and rather loose historical associations of cupcakes” have — get this — “allowed for its appropriation by a most unexpected population— men.” The author also alleges that cupcakes are “both a feminist statement and proof of postfeminist domesticity.”
Communications Prof. Rachel E. Dubrofsky at the University of South Florida says: “Cyrus and Swift operate in a post racial context where people of color and racialized aesthetics are featured, but where race itself is unimportant, and racism is a thing of the past.”...
Perhaps the most infamous case study of 2016 rammed us with “feminist glaciology” in the peer-reviewed journal Progress in Human Geography. The study, published in January, notes that “relationships among gender, science, and glaciers” have been “understudied” (who knew they were being studied at all?), and it seeks to solve that by “proposing a feminist glaciology framework.”  The article was funded by a $412,000 grant from the National Science Foundation. The primary author is Prof. Mark Carey of the University of Oregon, whose curriculum vitae says that since 2008 he has been a recipient or co-recipient of at least $2.3 million from the NSF between four different grants.

Is Syrian War Over? Putin's Ceasefire Includes Plan to "Break Up Syria Into Sub-States"

Is Syrian War Over? Putin's Ceasefire Includes Plan to "Break Up Syria Into Sub-States"
"The war could be over in Syria.
A peace is being negotiated on Putin’s terms, signaling a drastic shift away from American hegemony and unipolar world order.
Assad’s forces, fully backed by Russia, finally secured a decisive defeat in Aleppo, turning the tide for the factions of “moderate rebels” and “ISIS terrorists” that have been ruling intermittently in pockets of Syria.
Now, with targeted diplomats and larger threats to peace, President Putin has scored a psychological victory over the West, negotiating a peace in Syria in which the U.S. and NATO have no official involvement.
The deal could lead to a new political system in Syria that would break the country into three sub-states, and a formal federal overlay, inherent in the tensions surrounding the embattled state.
President Assad would retain power for a short time, before being replaced by a new leader.
According to the Daily Caller:
Russia, Turkey, and Iran are reportedly discussing splitting Syria into three autonomous sub-states in a final deal to end the ongoing Syrian civil war, Reuters reports.

LIBERTY REVIEW

LIBERTY REVIEW:

Star of David

By Tammy Derouin

Every year comes to an end with the hope that the next year will be better.  It’s a hope which comes directly from the last celebration of the year, Christmas, the birth of Christ.  It saddens me to see how our country has moved away from the true meaning of Christmas, especially in our more recent history

With the exception of some very uplifting books, the Old Testament of the Bible is very difficult to get through.  It can be very dark and brutal. Turning every page brought hope that the next chapter or book would be easier to read and to get through.  Patience led to a better understanding of the events, the history, which took place that would lead to man’s first journey out of darkness, along with a much easier path as chronicled in the New Testament.

Much like modern day history, it is necessary to understand the past so that we understand why actions and events took place.  History is our guide.  We must learn from the past so that we do not repeat the mistakes of those who came before us.  If we do not understand history, we will not understand the whole picture.  This is why it is very dangerous to hide our true history. Those who wish to control, hide the truth and manufacture a new reality to disguise their true intentions.

Without Christmas, we wouldn’t have our many other celebrated holidays.  Without the birth of Christ, we wouldn’t have Easter and the salvation which is promised to believers.  Without the hope and blessings that Christmas brings, we would still be living in darkness.  The enslavement which man has forced upon man throughout the ages would have continued into our present day western world.......

The vote was not about "settlements" - it was much worse

The vote was not about "settlements" - it was much worse - - Articles -
"The UNSC vote was not about “settlements.”
It was an Arab subterfuge, a trap into which the United States, the UK, New Zealand and other naïve or cynical diplomats took an active role.
It was all smoke and mirrors, a con trick holding up the settlement issue to dazzle the voters while the real intent was to disown Israel of territories to which they have genuine claim and turn them into “illegally occupied Palestinian territory.”
For certain, President Obama latched on to the idea.
It was pay-back time, a golden opportunity not to be missed to hit back at Bibi before handing in the keys to the White House.
For shame!
Now we know that he was cooking up this evil brew back in November.
Not too many people noticed that Obama’s Secretary of State sneaked into New Zealand in November for a quick visit.
The visit was to discuss the impending Security Council meeting.
Image result for The vote was not about "settlements" - it was much worseThe press was given to believe that the burning issue was Syria, but nobody is putting it past Kerry that he didn’t get into a huddle with Kiwi leaders about supporting this anti-Israel settlement resolution.
New Zealand has a seat in the Security Council.
...So, how did it go beyond the issue of settlements?
The wording of a flagrantly biased resolution wrongly claimed that “settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including east Jerusalem has no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under international law.”
This is blatantly incorrect.
It corrupted UN Resolution 242 of 1967 that called on Israel armed forces to withdraw from territory according to a timetable.
242 did not call on Israel to withdraw from all the territory as does this UNSC demand.
Resolution 242 acknowledged Israel’s right to protect itself and live in peace within secure and recognized borders.
Although the UNSC resolution restates these essential prerequisites it has the chutzpah to impose where these borders should be by renaming anything beyond the so-called 1967 lines “occupied Palestine territory.”
As such, the Security Council converts a false definition into international law..."

Analysis: ‘100% Of US Warming Is Due To NOAA Data Tampering’

Analysis: ‘100% Of US Warming Is Due To NOAA Data Tampering’ | Climate Depot
"Climate Central just ran this piece, which the Washington Post picked up on.
They claimed the US was “overwhelmingly hot” in 2016, and temperatures have risen 1,5°F since the 19th century.
The first problem with their analysis is that the US had very little hot weather in 2016.
The percentage of hot days was below average, and ranked 80th since 1895.
Only 4.4% of days were over 95°F, compared with the long term average of 4.9%.
Climate Central is conflating mild temperatures with hot ones.
They also claim US temperatures rose 1.5°F since the 19th century, which is what NOAA shows.
The problem with the NOAA graph is that it is fake data. NOAA creates the warming trend by altering the data. The NOAA raw data shows no warming over the past century
...All of the claims in the Climate Central article are bogus.
The US is not warming and 2016 was not a hot year in the US.
It was a very mild year."

Emails show how Reid's 'nuclear option' helped Obama regulate Internet | Washington Examiner:

"In practical terms, this appears to mean we will get a much more conservative cabinet than the one George W. Bush appointed.

Another consequence: Democrats will be unable, on their own, to block any of the 127 lower-court judicial appointments that Trump will be able to make in 2017, as they are either currently vacant or become vacant soon."

Plus, Tom Maguire emails:
Since you were early and accurate with your Obama administration prediction that “Jimmy Carter is a best-case scenario”, shouldn’t you be taking a Bold Stand on Obama’s likely behavior as an Ex-Pres?

I think “Jimmy Carter is a best case” will apply to Future Obama as well. And that was before this UN Security Council clown show.
I think that Obama will far surpass Jimmy Carter in both sanctimony and support to America’s enemies.
I believe that he will set a new standard in awfulness for ex-Presidents.
But sadly, I don’t think this counts as a particularly bold prediction."

MSNBC Warns That Trump's Comments Could "Literally" Trigger Nuclear War | The Daily Sheeple

trump-nuclear-bomb-explosion
The mainstream media is busy ushering the entire nation back into the cold war, blithely discussing nuclear weapons and launch codes like it’s about to be 1957 instead of 2017.
MSNBC host Chris Hayes kicked the fear porn up a notch recently, saying, “Trump’s comments about nuclear weapons have experts worried he could literally inadvertently trigger a catastrophe.”
“Literally”?
His guest, Esquire writer Charlie Pierce, went on to say:
We have what, I think the total is 7100, individual nuclear war heads. I don’t even want to know what the destructive capabilities there. And we’re about to hand the launch orders over to a guy who can’t stay away from his phone for 15 minutes… So yeah, I think we’re all good to need a refresher course in what nuclear weapons are all about.
Thanks for that, mainstream media..."
