The questions that won’t be asked about Minneapolis police shooting of Australian woman « Refugee Resettlement Watch

The questions that won’t be asked about Minneapolis police shooting of Australian woman « Refugee Resettlement Watch:
"Mainstream media is already trying to direct your attention to an excuse for the shocking shooting of an unarmed woman (in pajamas) by a Somali refugee police officer—a “diversity” hire.  Now we hear that there were firecracker sounds nearby. If it was that simple why then has the shooter, Mohamed Noor, reportedly refused to talk to police investigators.
Leo Hohmann at WND has an update.
Former Congresswoman and presidential candidate, Michele Bachmann wonders if there will be questions about a possible crime of bias. Not likely!
Hohmann:
Given the political makeup of the city’s leadership and its desire to hire more black officers, especially those with roots in the Somali community, it is highly unlikely that investigators will seek to find out if Noor was motivated by his own religious bias in the killing of Justine Damond, said former Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Michele Bachmann raises an issue that you know is on many minds.
The question that needs to be answered is, was this shooting a mistake or was it a “cultural seizure” by a Muslim officer who snapped and acted irrationally at the sight of a woman in her pajamas?
“The shooting makes no sense, and Noor comes from the mandated cover-up women culture,” Bachmann told WND. “That’s why I’m wondering if they’ll ask whether his cultural views led him to shoot her. That’s something, if true, I can’t imagine the progressives would allow to get out.
“Minneapolis race-baiters traffic in imagined bias,” Bachmann added. “This may have been real bias. But will we ever know?”
If the mainstream media won’t go there (and we highly doubt any investigators in the police department will) , and ask the questions you know would be asked if the situation were different, we will join Bachmann (as Hohmann reported):
….because of Minnesota’s political culture, most notably its iron-clad commitment to political correctness, the strange shooting of Justine Damond may never get an honest investigation, says Ann Corcoran, who has followed the refugee influx into more than 300 U.S. cities and towns over the past decade..."

'Trigger warnings' and the shallow insularity of campus politics - The College Fix

'Trigger warnings' and the shallow insularity of campus politics - The College Fix:
"Trigger warnings are not about ‘triggers;’ they are about the closing of the college mind
We know and have known for some time that a sizable percentage of college students are, in one form or another, hostile towards freedom of speech and freedom of expression...
Image result for 'Trigger warnings'What may be more baffling is the weird and mildly pathetic student demand that colleges and professors place “trigger warnings” on course literature...
...But the trigger warning debate isn’t really about the actual phenomenon of triggering experiences; it is, rather, about ideology masquerading as empathy.
Many college students today are notably aggressive and combative...
Antagonistic belligerence on the one hand and...intellectual cowardice on the other: this is the progressive campus playbook in a nutshell.
...Properly understood, “trigger warnings” are not about either triggers or warnings; they are about the labeling and signaling out of material that might offend the delicate sensibilities of the average campus social justice warrior, all as part of a campaign to point campus culture away from free and open inquiry and toward the closed and shallow mind of hyper-intolerant activism..."

USPS financially imploding as new political scandal emerges | Fox Business:
Image result for USPS Broke"The United States Postal Service is under fire Wednesday for allegedly violating the law by allowing its employees to do union-funded activities for Hillary Clinton’s campaign, according to an Office of Special Counsel report obtained by Fox News Opens a New Window.
The OSC claims the USPS workers’ activities violate the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal workers from engaging in certain politically-oriented undertakings.
As the U.S. Postal Service seeks to mediate these new damaging allegations, it is still backlogged with a slew of other financial problems.
Here’s a look at its top challenges.

  • Red ink-Expenses at the United States Postal Service have outpaced revenue for the past 10 years. In fiscal year 2016, the federal agency recorded a net financial loss of $5.6 billion and in the year prior, that amount clocked in at $5.1 billion....
  • Unfunded liabilities-In addition to mounting financial losses, the Postal Service has more than $120 billion in unfunded liabilities, mainly for retiree health and pension benefits, according to the GAO report..."

Social Security And Medicare Are In Worse Shape Than You Think | Stock News & Stock Market Analysis - IBD:
"Pensions: Even in normal years, the annual Social Security and Medicare trustees' reports typically get overlooked.
This year is far from normal.
Image result for social security and medicare fundingBut the reports should be top of mind for anyone who cares about retirement security.
The Social Security report finds that the "trust fund" will run out of money in just 17 years.
The news only gets worse from there.
...And on a cash flow basis, Social Security is now losing money every year.
Last year it was $54 billion in the red.
In a decade the annual shortfall will reach $215 billion — after adjusting for inflation.
It's only by spending "interest" earned in the program's "trust fund" that Social Security can cover its current obligations.
But remember, the trust fund is comprised entirely of Treasury debt.
The federal government still has to borrow or raise taxes when the trust fund cashes in those bonds.
...Medicare's future is equally grim..."

Security Blanket

By Tammy Derouin

Today's main stream media is a joke. They have abandoned their post as the seekers of truth. They once exposed corruption and delivered an unbiased account of what was happening in the world around us. What was once a race to uncover the story has become a race to rewrite reality. The media has willingly shackled itself to an all-powerful, controlling master. They have become paid stooges, promoting Left-Wing propaganda while protecting Left-Wing corruption.

The MSM has abused and destroyed the public trust. When they abandoned the American people, opting instead to pledge their loyalty to Left-Wing radicals or radicals in general, they began to descend into darkness. Once trust is lost, it is very difficult to get it back.

Sometimes it's difficult to admit that you have been deceived. After all, you put your trust into these organizations. For most of us, this has been a long term relationship. We didn't just start paying attention yesterday. Most of us have been watching and reading for years. Little by little things began to change. We have witnessed the betrayal right before our eyes. But even with so much evidence in plain sight, not everyone is ready to accept the truth. So begins the stages that you must work through to regain true reality.

Denial wraps you in an imaginary security blanket......

  • The National Enquirer claims that Hillary Clinton and her supporters are trying to bring down the Trump family by making it seem that they colluded with Russians
  • This was allegedly done with help from the group Fusion GPS according to the tabloid, who claims the Democratic party hired the company to get Trump dirt
  • Fusion GPS is the same group that was allegedly  responsible for putting together the dossier of Trump ties to Russia that was largely false or unproven
  • The Enquirer claims that Fusion previously worked with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskyaya, and suggests she setup the meeting with Don Jr as a trap
  • 'These guys had a vested personal interest and ideological interest in smearing Trump,' said a source of Fusion
  • Fusion GPS previously stated: 'Any claim that Fusion GPS arranged or facilitated this meeting in any way is absolutely false'
  • The Enquirer is owned by Trump friend David Pecker

Racial Division, Made Possible by Viewers Like You | Manhattan Institute:
"The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is pushing identity politics—except at pledge time.
After the Trump administration proposed eliminating federal funding for public broadcasting, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee cited the plan in a fundraising pitch.
Image result for identity politicsThe DCCC quickly backed off its position—a partisan appeal doesn’t help public broadcasting’s cause—but the incident is telling.
It’s no secret that NPR and PBS lean liberal.
Less appreciated is the extent to which Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) grants are organized around an idea central to the modern Democratic Party: identity politics.
The CPB annually receives a $445 million federal appropriation to support public television and public radio.
Most of this money goes to local stations, which pay dues to PBS and NPR for programming rights.
Yet some $97 million of the federal money is distributed as direct programming grants, much of it to independent producers.
This money is meant to support TV and radio programming, as well as educational projects that otherwise might not be commercially viable.
Note that individual grants are not approved by the corporation’s board, which is made up of presidential appointees.
Much of this money goes to the children’s programming that makes PBS popular.
But millions go to nonfiction documentary programming made by independent producers, and that’s where the focus on identity politics becomes clear..."

Newspaper Cites ‘Cuts’ in Case for City Tax Hike — But Spending Is Up, Not Down [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
"In a news article last week, The Times Herald newspaper in Port Huron described in dire terms the consequences for the city if voters don’t approve two local property tax hikes on Aug. 8.
According to the article, not approving the tax hikes would mean reductions in police and fire protection as well as “no city pools, no funding for parks and recreation programs” or a sports and concert venue.
The article stated that in the past three years, “the city has reduced government spending by $3 million by reducing staff and privatizing some services, among other actions.”
Image result for media liesThe city of Port Huron is spending more in 2017 than it spent three years ago.
This is true of overall spending and spending from the city’s general fund, which covers day-to-day salary and operating expenses.
But as often happens when municipal finance is in the news, spending reductions in one area are portrayed as cuts to the overall budget even though spending in other areas has risen by a greater amount, and overall spending is up.
Port Huron provides an example.
In the past three years, the city’s overall spending rose from $25.1 million in 2014 to $27.9 million in 2016.
The general fund budget rose $4.1 million over the period..."

Half of Americans have diabetes or a high risk for it — and many of them are unaware - LA Times
"Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and … diabetes.
That’s right.
The metabolic condition is about as American as you can get, according to a new national report card on diabetes released Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report shows that nearly half of Americans have diabetes or prediabetes, which puts them at high risk for the condition.

A good number of these folks haven’t been diagnosed and don’t even realize their predicament.
People with diabetes have too much sugar in their blood.
If the disease isn’t controlled, they can wind up with heart disease, nerve damage, kidney problems, eye damage and other serious health problems.
The new report combines data from the CDC, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Indian Health Service and the Census Bureau.
Here’s a numerical look at what they reveal about diabetes in America.
  • 30.3 million-The number of people in the U.S. who had diabetes in 2015.
  • 9.4%-The percentage of the U.S. population that has diabetes. That’s nearly 1 in 10
  • 84.1 million-The number of U.S. adults who have prediabetes, a condition characterized by elevated blood sugar that puts people at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. That works out to 34% of American adults with prediabetes..."
