Why American teenagers are not interested in adult activities like sex, drinking — or working - MarketWatch
"Kids today are in no hurry to grow up.
Teenagers are increasingly less likely to engage in adult activities like drinking alcohol, working jobs, driving or having sex according to research from San Diego State University and Bryn Mawr College published in the peer-reviewed journal Child Development Tuesday.
Image result for snowflake kids memeWith smaller families, longer life expectancy and after-school educational activities, today’s 18-year-olds are looking like 15-year-olds once did, according to Jean Twenge, professor of psychology at San Diego State University and the lead author on the study.
She calls it a “slow-life strategy” where parents have fewer children, “but nurture them more carefully.”
The number of teenagers who tried alcohol between 2010 and 2016 dropped to 67% from 93% between 1976 and 1979.
And the number that had earned money from working dropped from 76% to 55% over the same period.
Teens who had engaged in sexual activity by the end of high school dropped 12% between 1994 and 2016.
The declines in adult activities were consistent across demographic groups, including gender, race, socioeconomic status, region, and in both urban and rural areas, suggesting a major shift is taking place..."

NFL Pigskins at the Public Trough – The Conservative Insider:

"The NFL is a “private enterprise” whose “rights” are being violated by those who dare to challenge the league’s political radicalization. The anti-Trump Democratic Coalition has even filed an ethics complaint alleging that the president’s comments constitute a criminal violation against using government offices “to influence the employment decisions and practices” of a private entity.

Image result for flickr commons images NFL LogoFunny. These fair-weather friends of corporate free speech and the First Amendment were nowhere to be found when Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel were vowing to shut down Chick-Fil-A in their towns as government retaliation against the founders’ private religious beliefs.

As for the NFL’s status as a “private” enterprise? That’s some Super Bowl-sized audacity right there. I first started tracking publicly subsidized sports boondoggles with my very first watchdog website, Porkwatch, back in 1999. Since then, taxpayers at all levels of government have foot the bill for football stadiums to the tune of an estimated $1 billion every year."

Single-Payer: NHS Staff Shortages Mean Patients Dying Alone

Image result for nhs failSingle-Payer: NHS Staff Shortages Mean Patients Dying Alone:
"Most of you have heard the Democrat party pushing that single-payer health care.
They make it sound wonderful, even if nobody pushing it seems to understand basic math (see Jake Tapper Questions Bernie Sanders on Single Payer. He Can’t Answer and Uh Oh! Canadian Journalist Talks Healthcare. Admits Single-Payer Sucks).
“Let’s be like every other country in Europe,” they say.
Patients are dying alone on hospital wards because staff do not have enough time to care for them, nurses say. The mounting pressure across the UK is also leading to medicines being given late and patients being left in pain.
Among the other problems highlighted were:
  • Medicines for sepsis, diabetes and Parkinson’s not being given on time
  • Patients being left in pain because nurses were too busy
  • Child patients going without food as staff had to prioritise treatment
  • Patients not being moved, putting them at risk of bed sores
  • Patients left in corridors because all the beds were full
  • Community staff complaining they were not able to do everything asked of them

Hard Data, Hollow Protests | City Journal

Hard Data, Hollow Protests | City Journal:

Image result for flickr commons images FBI Report"The FBI released its official crime tally for 2016 today, and the data flies in the face of the rhetoric that professional athletes rehearsed in revived Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend.  Nearly 900 additional blacks were killed in 2016 compared with 2015, bringing the black homicide-victim total to 7,881. Those 7,881 “black bodies,” in the parlance of Ta-Nehisi Coates, are 1,305 more than the number of white victims (which in this case includes most Hispanics) for the same period, though blacks are only 13 percent of the nation’s population. The increase in black homicide deaths last year comes on top of a previous 900-victim increase between 2014 and 2015.
Who is killing these black victims? Not whites, and not the police, but other blacks."

Misdiagnosing the Opioid Crisis – InsideSources

Misdiagnosing the Opioid Crisis – InsideSources:
"As a doctor, nobody wants to see a reduction in deaths from opioid overdoses more than me.
But a condition cannot be treated without making the right diagnosis.
Policymakers in Washington and in state capitals are misdiagnosing the opioid crisis as a doctor-patient problem.
Image result for Opioid CrisisTheir policies are coming between doctors and patients.
They are preventing doctors from using their judgment and expertise to ease pain and suffering.
They are making many patients suffer needlessly, with some turning in desperation to the black market.
...While raids on black market drug dealers continue to net hauls from a seemingly endless sea of diverted, smuggled or counterfeit prescription opioids and heroin, policymakers can’t shake free of the myth that the opioid crisis is caused by doctors prescribing opioids to their patients in pain.
The numbers show that isn’t the case.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in July that prescriptions of opioids by health care practitioners have continued their steady decline since 2010..."

Support For ObamaCare Plunges As GOP Repeal Effort Fades — Kaiser Poll Finds | Stock News & Stock Market Analysis - IBD:

Image result for flickr commons images medical room"Republicans should have read the latest ObamaCare polls before deciding to give up on repeal. Public support for the law has dropped sharply, while most like the idea of giving states greater control over health care.

On Monday, the latest attempt to repeal and replace ObamaCare hit a wall after Maine Sen. Susan Collins came out against the Cassidy-Graham bill, joining John McCain and Rand Paul. The bill would have turned ObamaCare's subsidies into block grants, and given states wide latitude on how to regulate health insurance."

Why is the FBI trying to enforce NCAA rules? | New York Post

Why is the FBI trying to enforce NCAA rules? | New York Post
"When exactly did the FBI decide that NCAA regulations were the law of the land?
When did it conclude that, in addition to hunting down terrorists and investigating insider trading, its mandate also included protecting amateurism in college sports?
For years, athletic-shoe companies like Nike and Adidas paid coaches to have their team wear their brand of sneaker.
Were coaches like Rick Pitino, John Thompson and Jim Valvano being bribed by the shoe company representatives?
You certainly could frame it that way.
But nobody did.
Neither law enforcement nor the NCAA ever protested.
In 2006 — to pick just one among the many, many NCAA scandals over the years — two less-than-reputable agents gave the family of the University of Southern California’s star running back, Reggie Bush, gifts and benefits, including the free use of a house, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. They did so in the expectation that Bush would sign with them when he decided to turn pro. (He didn’t.)
Although the university was severely punished by the NCAA, the FBI chose not to look into the matter.
Why would it?
Giving a star athlete’s family the use of a house may be unseemly, and it may violate NCAA’s rules regarding amateurism, but it doesn’t violate the laws of the United States.
Not even close.
And yet on Tuesday, the US attorney for the Southern District of New York — that was Preet Bharara’s old jurisdiction, before the president fired him — announced with great fanfare that it had cracked a college basketball bribery scandal..."

Shock Report: NFL's Oakland Raiders Threw Game After White QB Refused To Kneel For National Anthem | The Daily Sheeple:
"A new report from The Armstrong and Getty Radio Show has sent shockwaves throughout the sports world after it was claimed that members of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders may have purposefully allowed their star quarterback to get sacked multiple times after he refused to kneel during the National Anthem.
If true, this would essentially mean that an NFL football game was illegally thrown over anger that one of the teams star white players did not believe that kneeling during the nations anthem was the correct way to protest supposed racial injustice in America.
In other words, an epic level scandal..."

Record $135 billion a year for illegal immigration, average $8,075 each, $25,000 in NY:

Image result for flickr commons images piles of money"The swelling population of illegal immigrants and their kids is costing American taxpayers $135 billion a year, the highest ever, driven by free medical care, education and a huge law enforcement bill, according to the the most authoritative report on the issue yet.

And despite claims from pro-illegal immigration advocates that the aliens pay significant off-setting taxes back to federal, state and local treasuries, the Federation for American Immigration Reform report tallied just $19 billion, making the final hit to taxpayers about $116 billion."

How the NFL Fleeces Taxpayers - The Atlantic
"Taxpayers fund the stadiums, antitrust law doesn't apply to broadcast deals, the league enjoys nonprofit status, and Commissioner Roger Goodell makes $30 million a year.
It's time to stop the public giveaways to America's richest sports league—and to the feudal lords who own its teams.
Last year was a busy one for public giveaways to the National Football League.
In Virginia, Republican Governor Bob McDonnell, who styles himself as a budget-slashing conservative crusader, took $4 million from taxpayers’ pockets and handed the money to the Washington Redskins, for the team to upgrade a workout facility.
Hoping to avoid scrutiny, McDonnell approved the gift while the state legislature was out of session.
...Twelve teams have turned a profit on stadium subsidies alone—receiving more money than they needed to build their facilities..."

Waiting Your Turn: Wait Times for Health Care in Canada, 2015 Report | Fraser Institute

Waiting Your Turn: Wait Times for Health Care in Canada, 2015 Report | Fraser Institute:
"Waiting for treatment has become a defining characteristic of Canadian health care.
In order to document the lengthy queues for visits to specialists and for diagnostic and surgical procedures in the country, the Fraser Insti-tute has—for over two decades—surveyed specialist physicians across 12 specialties and 10 provinces.
Image result for mri waiting canadaThis edition of Waiting Your Turn indicates that, overall, waiting times for medically necessary treatment have not improved since last year.
Specialist physicians surveyed report a median waiting time of 18.3 weeks between referral from a general practitioner and receipt of treatment—slightly longer than the 18.2 week wait reported in 2014.
This year’s wait time is 97% longer than in 1993 when it was just 9.3 weeks."

Narrative Fail: Russia Facebook Ads Showed Support For BLM, Clinton
"The Democrats' Trump/Russia collusion narrative took a major hit this week when Facebook leaks about Russia-linked ads forced disappointed Dems to walk back their anti-Trump messaging.
Congressional leaders, in the meantime, have reportedly renewed their focus on Team Obama's election-year political espionage.
Image result for russian fb adsThe anti-Trumpers' promising story-line -- "Trump and Russia colluded on Facebook" -- had to be downgraded to merely "Russia sought to create incivility and chaos" when it was discovered that the Russia-linked group in question promoted issues and groups on both sides of the political spectrum.
According to Facebook's investigators, the company sold up to $150,000 worth of ads to a Russian government-affiliated troll farm known as the Internet Research Agency, which bought the ads through hundreds of phony Facebook pages and accounts.
The intelligence community describes the Internet Research Agency as "a state-funded organization that blogs and tweets on behalf of the Kremlin."
At least one of the over 3,000 Russia-bought ads, which Facebook will soon turn over to Congress, promoted Black Lives Matter and specifically targeted audiences in Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore, CNN reported on Wednesday.
The Black Lives Matter ad appeared on Facebook at some point in late 2015 or early 2016, the sources said. The sources said it appears the ad was meant to appear both as supporting Black Lives Matter but also could be seen as portraying the group as threatening to some residents of Baltimore and Ferguson..."
