The Myth That Our Planet Faces an Overpopulation Crisis - Foundation for Economic Education

The Myth That Our Planet Faces an Overpopulation Crisis - Foundation for Economic Education
The world is not in danger of being overpopulated, so why do so many insist it is?
  • "...In his book, The Population Bomb, Ehrlich wrote: “The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now.”
  • Bernie Sanders recently vowed to support "educating everyone on the need to curb population growth" as a response to climate change.
  • Circa 1900, influential intellectuals in Europe and the U.S. voiced concerns about uncontrolled procreation causing a supposed decline in the quality of human beings.
  • Today, similar groups voice concerns about uncontrolled population growth and resource consumption causing a decline in the quality of the environment…Today’s green advocates brandish images of an overrun, dying planet.
...In the past 20 years, “the proportion of the world population living in extreme poverty” has fallen by half.
Rosling adds that already the “majority of the world population live in middle-income countries.”
When feverish dreams of doom are used to justify controlling the lives of others, restricting personal and economic freedom, expect more poverty and environmental degradation with real overpopulation like that of North Korea.
It is capitalism and freedom that lift humanity out of poverty, vanquish overpopulation, and offer a sustainable future...Read all.

Vanessa Bell Calloway Says Colorism Cost Her The Role Of Lisa In 'Coming To America': 'I Just Wasn't Light Enough' - SHADOW & ACT

"Vanessa Bell Calloway is well-known for her role as "queen to be" Imani Izzi in Coming to America, but as she told Page Six, she originally auditioned for the role of main character Lisa McDowell. However, she said that colorism played a role in her not being cast as Prince Akeem's (Eddie Murphy) love interest.

"When you have white people hiring Black people in movies, sometimes a certain look is wanted," she told Page Six. "I just wasn't light enough, even though Eddie had the final say on who played Lisa. [But] I didn't want the part of Imani, I wanted to be Lisa--I had read the script and I wanted the bigger role."

She said how colorism is something that Black people constantly have to deal with, adding, "A lot of men were indoctrinated by having a white woman or light-skinned woman on their arm."...Read all!

"...right-wing media ecosystem is “much more susceptible...to disinformation, lies, and half-truths.”

The ‘Experts’ Cited by the New Censors
  • A leftist professor helps Democrats attack non-leftist media.
"Two House Democrats from California, Reps. Anna Eshoo and Jerry McNerney, launched a frontal assault on the First Amendment this week with a letter to the CEOs of communications companies demanding to know what they are doing to police unwelcome speech.
A Journal editorial notes that “the letter is a demand for more ideological censorship.”
The two legislators write: “Our country’s public discourse is plagued by misinformation, disinformation, conspiracy theories, and lies.”
But it’s clear that they only want to discipline one side
The Democrats claim, “Experts have noted that the right-wing media ecosystem is “much more susceptible...to disinformation, lies, and half-truths.”
The “experts” quoted are three Harvard academics, and the lead author is law professor Yochai Benkler.
His take on “right-wing” media is perhaps not surprising given that according to the OpenSecrets website he donates exclusively to left-wing politicians, especially Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.).
In any case, Mr. Benkler has assembled an interdisciplinary team at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society and purports to have discovered data showing that conservative media is bad...Read all.

Reporter calls out Biden spokesman on Russia: 'You guys are taking credit for stuff the previous administration did!' - TheBlaze

"You guys have only been in office for a month, right? Are you telling me that in the last four weeks these 18 companies all of the sudden decided to say, 'Oh my God! We better not do anything with Nord Stream 2,'" Lee said, referring to the proposed pipeline project. "You guys are taking credit for stuff the previous administration did," Lee asked. "Yes or no?"

"During the 2019 shareholder season, Justin Danhof, general counsel for the National Center for Public Policy Research, tabled a shareholder proposal at Amazon’s annual meeting.
“Diversity in board composition is best achieved though highly qualified candidates with a wide range of skills, experience, beliefs, and board independence from management,” it read.
Uncontroversial, one might think, but Danhof was booed and heckled throughout his presentation.
Afterward, a representative for Arjuna Capital (which “works with high net-worth individuals,” its website says) told Danhof that he was simply trying “to protect white males.”
A representative of the Nathan Cummings Foundation (with $424 million of cash and investments, on its most recent balance sheet) made clear that Danhof was unwelcome and should hasten, lest he be late for his next Klan meeting or book burning...Read all.

Nancy Pelosi's New COVID Bill Has 10 Crazy Examples of Waste and Kick-Backs - Foundation for Economic Education

Over the weekend, House Democrats finally released the text of the 600-page bill meant to make Biden’s broad COVID proposals a legislative reality.

Critics and economists have already attacked the proposal on the merits of its main provisions and staggering overall cost, arguing it would break the budgetincentivize unemployment, and fail to stimulate the economy. However, there’s a much simpler objection to this legislative bonanza: it’s full of unrelated pork and political priorities.

Here are 10 crazy examples of waste and partisan kick-backs that have nothing to do with COVID-19 but are in the new bill.

Cancel Kermit? Disney Slaps Insane Warning on 'The Muppet Show' - Louder With Crowder

This is the second dumbest decision Disney has made this week. Nothing has held on to a special place in my heart longer than the Muppets. My first time crying during a movie was when the gang was saying goodbye during The Muppets Take Manhattan. Quite frankly, I care about the Muppets more than I do most people. Finally, we were getting the classic "The Muppet Show" on a streaming service. But not without a warning. Because it's 2021, people are stupid, and an imbecile might complain on Twitter.

Stevie Wonder Tells Oprah He Is Permanently Moving to Ghana to Protect Grandchildren from Injustice | PEOPLE.com
"During a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, the 25-time Grammy-winner, 70, opened up about his future plans to live in Ghana indefinitely — as part of his efforts to shield his lineage of grandchildren and great grandchildren from racial injustice in the U.S.
...When asked if he plans to relocate permanently, the star replied, "I am, because I don't want to see my children's children's children have to say, 'Oh, please like me. Please respect me. Please know that I am important. Please value me.' What kinda [life is that]?"
The star's decision may be influenced by a number of reasons — but it is often said that living in majority Black regions gives Black individuals a sense of safety, confidence, liberation and pride...Read all.

It's ALL about dividing us. And conquering us.-----The Woke ‘Model Minority’ Myth

The Woke ‘Model Minority’ Myth
  • For progressives, Asian-American achievement is an embarrassment.
"The North Thurston Public Schools in Lacey, Wash., made headlines in November when their “equity report” classified Asian-Americans along with whites instead of as “students of color.”
Apparently the Asian-Americans were doing too well academically to be students of color.
...To normal Americans, it makes no sense.
How are Asian-Americans not “people of color”?
...these days the characterization of Asian-Americans as the “model minority” triggers the woke.
...“The end goal here is to pit people against each other as if our hyphenated identities are bigger than our common destiny as Americans.”
The principal reason for this is the fact of Asian-American achievement.
This is an embarrassment to progressives because it undermines the claim that structural racism dooms nonwhite citizens to the margins of the American dream...Read all!

Biden Blames 'Former Military, Former Police Officers' for Spurring 'Growth' of White Supremacy

Biden Blames 'Former Military, Former Police Officers' for Spurring 'Growth' of White Supremacy
"...Biden made the claim while appearing in a CNN town hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
During the session, he was asked...about
“ongoing threats to our country from Americans who embrace white supremacy and conspiracies that align with it. What can your administration do to address this complex and wide-ranging problem?”
...said Biden...“And the most dangerous people in America continue to exist. That is the greatest threat to terror in America: domestic terror.”
...“And so I would make sure that my Justice Department and the Civil Rights Division is focused heavily on those very folks. And I would make sure that we, in fact, focus on how to deal with the rise of white supremacy,” he said.
“And you see what’s happening — and the studies that are beginning to be done, maybe at your university as well — about the impact of former military, former police officers, on the growth of white supremacy in some of these groups,” he said...Read all.

"...They imprison your mind..."

Michael Smith
"People scoff when indoctrination and reeducation camps are mentioned.
"Never happen here," they say (or think).
  • But the fact is, they already exist – they exist in things like the mandatory “anti-racism”/Critical Race Theory programs that are being implemented in businesses, schools, and government agencies, most as a condition of employment.
  • They exist in media outlets like CNN, a cable network focused on nothing but taking Fox News off the air.
Progressives are not stupid, they are actually pretty damn innovative and devious.
They know that real concentration or reeducation camps would require the internment of a physical body, and any attempt to do that on a mass scale would be met with significant resistance – most likely featuring violence.
They know who has the guns and ammo, that’s why Biden and Shelia Jackson Lee are working so hard to take them away from law abiding gun owners.
So, what is an aspiring totalitarian to do under those circumstances?

Why we need an inquiry into January 6 - The Spectator - news, politics, life & arts
"...Democrats instantly seized upon the riot, elevated it into an ‘armed insurrection’, and bewailed the assault on ‘our democracy’.
Indeed, so quick was the construction of this narrative that the cynics among us speculated that the riot, if not exactly premeditated by anti-Trump forces, was at least foreseen as an exploitable possibility. Something similar can be said about the deployment of the phrase ‘our democracy’
In this case, the first-person-plural possessive is very clearly intended to be exclusive, not inclusive.
No one wearing a MAGA hat or waving a Trump banner is included in that ‘our’.
The thousands of loyalty-tested National Guard troops and the tall, razor-wire-tipped fence hastily erected to surround the Capitol communicated the same message.
It’s Us vs Them, comrade: talk about ‘unity’ and ‘our democracy’ but practice division and exclusion. Nancy Pelosi called the Capitol ‘the people’s house’, the ‘citadel of democracy’, but the armed troops and the fence bespoke a different reality...Read all!

Understanding Multiracial Whiteness And Trump Supporters : NPR
NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro asks Cristina Beltran, professor of social and cultural analysis at New York University, about the phenomenon of "multi-racial whiteness."

LULU GARCIA-NAVARRO, HOST:
The chairman of the hate group The Proud Boys identifies as Afro-Cuban. One of the organizers of the pro-Trump extremist group Stop the Steal is Black and Arab. Christina Beltran is a professor of social and cultural analysis at New York University. And she uses the term multiracial whiteness to explain why some groups who are disdained by white supremacists embrace white power movements. And she joins us now to explain. Welcome to the program.

CRISTINA BELTRAN: Great. Thank you so much for having me.

GARCIA-NAVARRO: So what do you mean by multiracial whiteness?

BELTRAN: So there's been a whole lot of people thinking and theorizing about white supremacy. And all of these scholars share a view that I share, that whiteness is not the same thing as white people and that whiteness is actually better understood as a political project that has emerged historically, and that is dynamic and that is always changing.
And so whiteness as an ideology is rooted in America's history of white supremacy - right? - which has to do with the legacy of slavery or Indigenous dispossession or Jim Crow...Read all... or don't.
