"...Since January this year, UK major car manufacturers have been under an obligation to ensure that at least 22 per cent of the new vehicles they sell are pure electric. 

• If they fail, then for every non-electric car they sell they could be fined £15,000. 
• The 22 per cent proportion will then rise every year until it reaches 80 per cent in 2030.

...The only real option car-makers will have is to stop us buying petrol or diesel cars by withdrawing them from the market – as Ford has already done with the Fiesta. 

I wouldn’t be surprised if some car-makers chose to give up on the UK market altogether...
Unfortunately, the push to electric may drive them off the roads.
