"Even though one of the victims, Jeanne Doucette, managed to take photos that appear to show the assailants as they kicked and pummeled her boyfriend Marc Adams to unconsciousness, Charlottesville Police still do not have any suspects.
Doucette says there were other witnesses to the crime, which allegedly occurred just outside the Wells Fargo building at around 1am as she and Adams walked from Miller’s to Rapture, and she is baffled as to why the police haven’t shared her images more widely with people who could have seen the suspects earlier in the evening."

How political correctness took down Navy SEALs | New York Post:
"In the event, no shots were fired, but the SEALs faced another kind of ambush: a humiliating, baffling, infuriating struggle with the military-justice system that would end with an unsatisfying victory.
Because the man those SEALs captured — Ahmad Hashim Abd Al-Isawi, aka “the Butcher of Fallujah,” a man who lived for mayhem — somehow sustained a bloody lip on the night of his capture.
The contrast between the two instances of violence seems, like many of the details of the case, absurd.
On the one hand, four Blackwater contractors were murdered and beheaded as they pulled security in a convoy that was attempting to deliver food.
On the other hand, Al-Isawi had a small cut on his lip that a doctor would later testify appeared to have been self-inflicted.
Yet for this latter instance of bloodshed three SEALs were charged with serious crimes. "

And then one night we turned on MTV’s Video Music Awards and YIKES there was this horrifying, mutant, vaguely reptilian creature in Slut Barbie underwear twerking all over the stage while committing unhygienic acts with both Robin Thicke and a foam finger, both of which we hope were confiscated by a hazmat team.
This year was so bad that twerking wasn’t even the stupidest dance craze.
That would be the “Harlem Shake,” which is not so much a dance as a mass nervous-system disorder, and which makes the “Gangnam Style” dance we mocked in 2012 look like “Swan Lake.”"

"Solar electricity is growing, promoted, and most importantly, heavily subsidized.
The promoters of solar electricity claim that it is close to being competitive with conventional sources of electricity.
That is a fantasy."
...An example of a hidden subsidy is the California Renewable Portfolio Standard that mandates utilities to obtain 33% of their energy from so-called renewable sources by 2020.
This mandate forces utilities to contract for expensive sources of energy, such as solar.
The cost is passed on to the utility customers with the connivance of the government.
Although the motivation behind the California scheme is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, politically incorrect sources of CO2-free electricity, such as nuclear and large-scale hydroelectric, can't be counted as renewable.

"As Smithsonian's Joseph Stromberg recently explained in great piece of pseudoscience debunkery, the idea that coffee is bad for youngsters was actually a myth first propagated by the early 20th century cereal Tycoon, C.W. Post.
Before he developed his signature breakfast products like Grape Nuts, Post went into business in 1895 selling a cereal-based, caffeine-free coffee substitute called Postum.
Now, the words "cereal-based, caffeine-free coffee substitute" might sound about as appetizing to you as a wet wad of newspaper.
But Post cannily marketed his product as a health beverage while spooking consumers about the allegedly malign effects of coffee on both adults and children. "

Roger’s Rules » Benghazi: The New York Times vs. the Truth
They never give up at the New York Times. If at first they don’t succeed in twisting the truth to fit the Newspeak fit to print, it’s try, try again. Their latest exercise in mendacity is “A Deadly Mix in Benghazi,” an elaborate essay that substitutes a plethora of irrelevant details and animated graphics for historical truth. The long essay takes up an event which, in a rational world, would have led the to resignation of former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and the impeachment of President Barack Obama. I mean the terrorist attack on our consular facility at Benghazi, Libya.
You remember Benghazi: a U.S. ambassador and his security detail were ambushed by Islamic radicals and, after an hours’ long firefight, Ambassador Chris Stevens, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were brutally murdered. By Islamic radicals.
The cataract of misinformation that gushed out of the Obama administration about that event, a mephitic current of lies and half truths streaming from the cloaca maxima in Washington, D.C., was stunning even by the low standards of “the most transparent administration in history.” I wrote about the events here several times, as did several of my PJM colleagues.
The administration’s line was that the savage ambush that left four Americans dead was part of a “spontaneous uprising” by adherents of the Religion of Peace, goaded to murderous fury because of a hitherto obscure internet video that portrays Mohammed as a corrupt sexual predator. It’s a silly film. But, however silly, however offensive to Muslim sensibilities it may be, is it grounds for mayhem and murder? And, more to the point, did it in fact have anything at all to do with the events in Benghazi of September 11, 2012?
The short answer is: No. The internet video had nothing to do with that terrorist attack. The date, however, — September 11 — probably had a lot to do with the timing of the attack.
According to the New York Times, the perpetrators of the attack were not elements of al-Qaeda and kindred radical groups but disaffected members of the Arab street who were distraught by Innocence of Muslims, the sophomoric internet video on which President Obama and Hilary Clinton blamed the attack. My own view is that if a group of people is so criminally puerile that they can can be roused to murder by a video, then they deserve to be treated as mental incompetents. But in this case, the question doesn’t really arise because the Times offers no evidence that the video had anything to do with the murderous attack.
As a House Intelligence Committee report concluded, pace the Times, the Benghazi attack was “an al Qaeda led event.” The culprit was “not a video,” Rep. Mike Rogers observed — “that whole part was debunked time and time again.” It was not a “spontaneous uprising,” as was put about by the administration at the time and is now reprised by the New York Times, but rather a “pre-planned, organized terrorist event,” orchestrated by al-Qaeda.
How are we to understand the Times’s latest entry into the contest to rewrite history for ideological fun and profit? My own sense is that it has less to do with salvaging President Obama’s tattered reputation — he is well on his way to winning the prize for the least competent and most destructive president in the history of the republic.
No, Barack Obama is yesterday’s news, and unless and until he is impeached and removed from office he will be pretty much forgotten by purveyors of all the Newspeak fit to print.
They have their eyes on another player in the Benghazi scandal, namely Hilary Clinton.
If anyone emerged from that shameful episode more discredited than Barack Obama, it was Ms. Clinton.
But time is passing fast, and there is a lot of remedial work to do if Hilary Clinton is to be suitably repackaged as the Democratic candidate for president. That ambition, I believe, stands behind this elaborate, breathtaking exercise in journalistic mendacity.

It was in that hall in 2006 that then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, with a smiling Ted Kennedy by his side, signed a sweeping health care overhaul into law that would eventually become the model for Obamacare.
As with Obamacare, the Massachusetts program (also known as Romneycare), expanded Medicaid, mandated that individuals purchase government-approved coverage, and provided subsidies to individuals to purchase government-designed insurance plans on a government-run exchange.
In his October remarks, Obama used the Massachusetts experience to argue that Obamacare could work, despite what the naysayers claimed.
"All the parade of horribles, the worst predictions about health care reform in Massachusetts never came true," Obama said. "They're the same arguments that you're hearing now ... Care didn't become unaffordable; costs tracked what was happening in other places that wasn't covering everybody."
As Modern Healthcare reports:Yet a new report from the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission reached a different conclusion.
Massachusetts, whose health care reform program was used as a template for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, had the highest per capita health spending in the U.S. in 2009. According to the commission's report, the state spent $9,278 per person on health care in 2009, which was 36 percent higher than the national average of $6,815, and 11.2 percent more than the next-highest state, New York, which spent $8,341.

Global Warming Expedition to Prove Antarctic Ice is Melting Trapped by Ice | FrontPage Magazine
Here is how Chris Tuney,a self-proclaimed, “Scientist, explorer and Writer” and a Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow and Professor of Climate Change at the University of University of New South Wales, described the “Australasian Antarctic Expedition”.
The Australasian sector is dominated by the East Antarctic Ice Sheet, the largest of three ice sheets that contains enough freshwater to raise the world’s sea level by some 52 metres. Until recently it was thought this ice sheet was stable, sitting on the continental crust above today’s sea level. However there is an increasing body of evidence, including by the AAE members, that have identified parts of the East Antarctic which are highly susceptible to melting and collapse from ocean warming. One of the purposes of the expedition was to “determine the extent to which human activity and pollution has directly impacted on this remote region of Antarctica.”
How has that worked out for Tuney? The Antarctic ice was unaware that the science was settled… and settled in place instead trapping Tuney and his media Warmist allies in its Climate Change denier grip.

New laws in 2014: From tanning bed bans to 'lemon pets':
"• In Colorado, 16-year-olds will be able to pre-register to vote, but must still wait until they're 18 to vote.
• California students must be allowed to play school sports and use school bathrooms "consistent with their gender identity," regardless of their birth identity.
• In Oregon, new mothers will now be able to take their placentas home from the hospital — some experts say ingesting it has positive health benefits. Another new state law bans smoking in motor vehicles when children are present.
• Minimum-wage increases take effect in four northeastern states: Connecticut's rises to $8.70 an hour; New Jersey's to $8.25; and New York's and Rhode Island's to $8. In nine other states, the minimum wage rises automatically because it's indexed to inflation.
Perhaps most significantly, Colorado adults age 21 or older will be able on Wednesday to buy up to an ounce of marijuana for recreational use from a state-licensed retail store. Marijuana advocates expect many of the new stores to be up and running by then, and observers say the new Colorado regulations are a sign of things to come."

These are evil people with enormous power. Life on GLAAD's Blacklist

He had the courage to speak out and this is the response from the thugs at GLAAD.
Do we really want to empower these bigots?

This is GLAAD's blacklist.
Within hours of GLAAD's publication of my addition to the list, which amounts to an excommunication from polite society, an e-mail was sent to the president of my university, along with dozens of other high officials in California, with the announcement: ROBERT OSCAR LOPEZ PLACED ON GLAAD WATCH LIST.

The e-mail stated clearly that as a result of my being placed on this list, I would never get a direct interview in the United States.
(Whoever "they" are, they made good on the threat, because when I was brought onto Al Jazeera, they made sure that I was the only one critical of gay adoption, versus two hosts and two other panelists who were for it, and the host cut my microphone.)

According to the press release sent to my university, any media outlet introducing me would be bound to introduce me as an "anti-gay activist" certified by GLAAD as a bigot.
When I read the claims of this e-mail, I wondered if this would be true -- would media in the United States really introduce me by saying I was certified as "anti-gay" by GLAAD?

Politifact's "Lie of the Year" - Part Deux
Politifact's "Lie of the Year" - Part Deux | The Volokh ConspiracyThe Volokh Conspiracy
Politifact’s “Lie of the Year” – Part Deux
Avik Roy writes on how Politifact’s assessment of the “if you like your plan, you can keep it” promise went from 100% true to half-true to a “pants on fire” lie to the “lie of the year.”
The column is fairly devastating by itself, but then Politifact’s Angie Holan, who authored some of the relevant evaluations, tried to defend Politifact with a tweet:
The mind reels.
Then-Senator Obama’s 2008 health care plan had numerous elements that were sure to disrupt health insurance markets, as Roy noted in the column.
(If, on the other hand, Politifact wants to argue that the initial promise was “true” because it represented then-candidate Obama’s honest intent in 2008, then there was no point in fact-checking it at all.)
More importantly, insofar as one wants to argue that the 2008 plan and the PPACA are sufficiently different to justify different assessments of the claim, the individual mandate is largely irrelevant — and this is the first time someone from Politifact has tried to suggest otherwise.
(For instance, there’s no mention of the mandate in Ms. Holan’s “Lie of the Year” post.)
The individual mandate is not what is causing individuals to lose their health insurance.
If anything, it has the opposite effect by reducing the effect of other PPACA requirements.
It’s as if Politifact “fact-checkers” don’t know very much about the subjects of their “fact checks.”
If any further proof were needed of the absurdity of our self-appointed political “fact-checkers” this is it.
Remember the MSM's obsession with the term "Jobless Recovery"? The worst year under W was 6%---- The current state of the US economy explained in one chart
The current state of the US economy explained in one chart | AEIdeas:
"3. The fact that the US economy is producing 5.6% more output now than in 2007 with 2 million fewer workers would explain why corporate profits are at record levels and more than 40% above the pre-recession peak (not adjusted for inflation).
4. The chart above also illustrates the fact that the US economy is in another “jobless recovery,” with a full economic recovery when measured by real output, but with a weak recovery when measured by employment levels, with a stubbornly high jobless rate and sluggish job growth."

Snyder signs law that boosts campaign spending limits, but keeps issue ad donors secret | Crain's Detroit Business:
In a reversal of his position as a gubernatorial candidate, Gov. Rick Snyder signed into law Friday a campaign finance bill that will continue to keep secret the names of donors who pay for issue ads.
...Under current law, those who pay for such ads do not have to be disclosed.
...In a statement Friday, Snyder hailed the campaign finance bill for providing an "unprecedented level of transparency," as the bill will require, for the first time, organizations responsible for election-related robocalls to be disclosed.
...Rich Robinson, of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network, panned the robocall disclosure provision as weak.
"Michigan voters can look forward to hearing that they have been called by the Committee for God and Country, Commonsense Advocates, or some equally benign-sounding and meaningless committee names," Robinson said in a statement. "Most disclaimers will reveal nothing about who is sponsoring the electioneering messages we get by phone - just as the disclaimers on phony TV issue ads reveal nothing about the funders' identities."
The bill also doubles the amount individuals can donate to political candidates. Contribution limits to statewide offices such as governor and university regents will increase from $3,400 to $6,800. Senate and House limits will double to $2,000 and $1,000, respectively.
The bill also increases from $100 to $1,000 the amount of free food and drinks a lawmaker can receive from an individual before having to report it as a contribution on his or her campaign finance report.

Obama's america-------------Hundreds of teens trash mall in wild flash mob
Have you heard ANY black leader condemn this behavior?
Will ANYONE, anywhere comment that this is becoming accepted behavior in the urban community in a growing list of American cities?

He added,“F–ked up my middle finger tryna fight them bitch ass security guards.”"

Hundreds of teens trash mall in wild flash mob | New York Post:
"A wild flash mob stormed and trashed a Brooklyn mall, causing so much chaos that the shopping center was forced to close during post-Christmas sales, sources said Friday.
More than 400 crazed teens — who mistakenly thought the rapper Fabolous would perform — erupted into brawls all over Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Mill Basin on Thursday at 5 p.m., sources said.
Some of the teens — who had planned the rowdy meet-up on social media — later took to Facebook to brag about it.“[Kings Plaza] was on tilt today but n-ggas wasn’t catching me,” Ray Ray Sextana posted on Facebook.

An argument could be made that Obamacare is Obama's most successful debacle--------All Iowans Who Applied For ObamaCare Asked to Reapply at State Website Due to Ongoing Glitches
All Iowans Who Applied For ObamaCare Asked to Reapply at State Website Due to Ongoing Glitches | NewsBusters:
"The White House and its media minions want you to believe that everything is going swimmingly with ObamaCare since repairs were made to Healthcare.gov.
Quite the contrary, Iowa's KCCI TV reported Friday that the 16,000 people in that state who applied for health insurance via that website need to reapply due to a delay in paperwork (video follows with transcript and commentary):
"We are working hard to ensure that Iowans who applied through HealthCare.gov will be enrolled in health coverage. We are encouraging Iowans who applied at the federal portal to reapply through our state website and call center," said DHS Director Charles M. Palmer. "We will make every effort to process applications in a timely manner so that these Iowans can have certainty about their health care coverage."DHS said it is sending emails and letters to the nearly 16,000 Iowans whose applications are held at the federal hub.
What's interesting is these folks are being told to reapply at Iowa's website not at Healthcare.gov.
Goes quite counter to the media's meme that everything's going smoothly since website repairs were completed, doesn't it?"

A "republican" who votes more liberal than EVERY democrat is ........ a ....... FREAKIN DEMOCRAT!
A good man/woman does not necessarily make a good politician.
Politicians of high character are clear and honest about their ideology and their voting record.
When liberals are elected as Republicans, everyone loses.

Letters: Sen. Hansen's voting record has always been inconsistent with Republican thought | MLive.com
In David Kolb's Dec. 17 column, “A splash of moderation might spell trouble for Republican from Hart,” he says that Sen. Goeff Hansen, R-Hart, has moderated quite a bit since being elected to the state House in 2004.
Mr. Hansen hasn’t changed in any way.
His voting record has never been consistent with the mainstream of Republican thought.
Mr. Hansen votes consistently for corporate welfare programs that never seem to produce the jobs they promise.
This is not embraced in the Republican Party platform and it is not something any of the common sense conservatives I know would support.
In fact on a recent Mackinac Center scorecard Mr. Hansen scored 11 percent that is lower than all of the other senators including the democrats.
The Republican Party platform is quite emphatic in its opposition to socialized medicine.
While some might quibble that the ACA is not socialized medicine, it is a distinction without a difference.
Mr. Hansen voted to give all of Michigan’s citizens Obama-Care, not just the 10,000 people in the district Mr. Hansen estimates will benefit from his generosity.
If fiscal responsibility and voting based on the principles laid out in the Republican Party platform is now regarded as weird and extreme, perhaps Mr. Hansen would be happier in the democrat party.
NICK SUNDQUIST/Republican Candidate for Michigan’s 34th Senate District
Another WW2 comparison between obama's america and the United States of America we grew up with.
"During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, the U.S. produced:
22 aircraft carriers,
8 battleships,
48 cruisers,
349 destroyers,
420 destroyer escorts,
203 submarines,
34 million tons of merchant ships,
100,000 fighter aircraft,
98,000 bombers,
24,000 transport aircraft,
58,000 training aircraft,
93,000 tanks,
257,000 artillery pieces,
105,000 mortars,
3,000,000 machine guns, and
2,500,000 military trucks.
We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa,
invaded Sicily and Italy,
won the battle for the Atlantic,
planned and executed D-Day,
marched across the Pacific and Europe,
developed the atomic bomb
and ultimately conquered Japan and Germany.
It's worth noting that during almost the exact same amount of time, the Obama administration couldn't build a functioning web site."
