Hurricane Irene as the “Harbinger” of More Warming Propaganda « Commentary Magazine
Few aspects of contemporary debate are as dreary as the politicization of weather. Government officials have always known — or at least should have always known — that they will be blamed for natural disasters especially if they are not seen to be conducting rescue or cleanup activities with sufficient zeal.
But just as depressing and unenlightening is the practice of using instances of extreme weather — be they hot or cold, wet or dry — as “proof” that the planet is warming.

How Obama Spent His Summer Vacation
How Obama Spent His Summer Vacation - HUMAN EVENTS
I would imagine the increasingly disenchanted public remembers all those loud promises that the President “will not rest” until “everyone looking for a job can find one,” especially since they were made as recently as two weeks ago.
Unique challenges call for remarkable leadership and sacrifice, not scheduled vacation romps… much less a President who never seems to do anything except show himself a good time, and raise funds for his re-election campaign.
He’s spent plenty of time hanging around with deep-pockets supporters during this “working vacation.”

Comparing Obama’s Performance in Office with that of a Sack of Hammers
Pajamas Media » Comparing Obama’s Performance in Office with that of a Sack of Hammers
It’s somewhat difficult to judge the performance of a president with all the factors that need to be considered and trying to figure out the president’s effect on them, but perhaps the best way to accurately assess the effectiveness of a president is to judge him against the expected performance of a sack of hammers in a similar situation (which is known as the “Coolidge Test”).
Basically, the question is: Instead of electing the current president, would the country have been better off taking a burlap sack to Ace Hardware, filling it with approximately one hundred dollars worth of hammers, and placing that in the Oval Office?

If you're wondering what to do with that crib after your little one moves to a “big boy bed,” you probably have only one option: disposing of it.
Cribs manufactured before July 23, 2010, don't meet new standards set by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and are illegal to resell or donate.
Parents who want to get rid of their old cribs should disassemble them before disposing of them, the CPSC said.

The staggeringly high unemployment rate – 9.1%, not counting the Americans who have given up looking for work or who are underemployed.
The still-tumbling housing values, now worse than the Great Depression.
The inflation indicators, with uncounted sharp inflation in food and gasoline.
The debt and the deficit, now too big to even fathom without an advanced degree in mathematics.
The unfunded future liabilities –Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, public worker pensions, and the like.
When the S&P downgrade is thrown into this cliff-hanging mix, our fiscal situation goes from bad to worse.

US jobs on line as EPA moves
US jobs on line as EPA moves--Michael A. Walsh - NYPOST.com
Get ready for the sacrifice of tens of thousands more American jobs (at least) to feed the fantasy of “clean energy.”
Even as the “green jobs” promise proves to be a lie, the Obama administration is getting set to force the shutdown of countless power plants across half the nation.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s new Cross-State Air Pollution Rule, announced last month, will affect coal-fired electric plants in at least 27 midwestern and eastern states.
Set to take effect next year, the rule could shutter up to a fifth of the nation’s generating capacity.
With coal providing 45 percent of the nation’s energy, utility companies warn of an economic “train wreck” if the regulations -- based on Bush-era EPA proposals that the federal courts threw out in 2008 -- take effect.
One Wisconsin utility says its costs would jump $32.6 million next year, while the head of the Texas Public Utility Commission says the rules could lead to rolling blackouts -- especially given the short time the utilities have to comply with Washington’s iron fist.
This is not some minor tweak.

Obama’s EPA is Killing More Jobs than Economy Can Create
Brown: Obama’s EPA is Killing More Jobs than Economy Can Create responses from FERC Commissioners to an inquiry from Congress regarding the degree of agency coordination on the impact of the agency's new rules clearly shows the EPA statements were not truthful. Correspondence from the FERC chairman and commissioners revealed the commission is not working on a formal assessment of the impact of the EPA regulations on the ability of our power grid to reliably deliver electricity to the nation's homes and businesses.

Why Obama Can't Lead
Articles: Why Obama Can't Lead
For 22 years he attended the church services led by Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
African-Americans who attended his and other black liberation theology church services in Chicago are taught that their options are limited by the "other," and this other is white society.
Personal choice is not the route to success; choices are limited by the overwhelmingly oppressive power of dominant white America.
America is not, for Rev. Wright's paradigm, a land of opportunity, but instead a land of oppression.
In this political culture, the black political leader does not encourage his people to move forward, but rather convinces them that they cannot move forward.
Whatever choices they make, their future is determined not by personal choice, but by the restrictive confines of white society.
This is why actor-comedian Bill Cosby is viciously attacked when he suggests that African-Americans take responsibility for their own choices.
We see this in Muskegon with too many of the older local black leaders.
Thankfully the new voices (and some old, like Rillistine Wilkins) see personal choice and opportunity as positive options.

Remember the TARP, the U.S. Treasury Department's highly controversial, $ 500 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program?
That was only the tip of the iceberg.
Think: $ 1.2 trillion.
That's right.
One trillion, two hundred billion dollars as of December 5, 2008 - when Wall Street's emergency borrowing for the federal government peaked.

Black's Dilemma With Obama
Black's Dilemma With Obama - Star Parker - Townhall Conservative
Election of our nation's first black president is delivering an unexpected message to our black population.
Blacks are discovering that what a man or woman does -- their actions -- is what matters, not the color of their skin.
It seems ridiculous to point out that this was supposedly the point of the civil rights movement. Purge racism from America.
But blacks themselves have been the ones having the hardest time letting it go.

I think sentient Democrats are watching their party's chances in 2012 slip away, and had they not made such a big deal of claiming all opposition to Obama was racist in motivation and effect (see, e.g., this) , they would now be urging him to quit and seeking a new contender for his office.
Like Coleridge's ancient Mariner, however, they can only stand on deck with that albatross around their neck watching both the White House and the Senate slip from their grasp just as did so many state governorships and the House of Representatives.

Three Dead In Weekend Air Show Accidents
On Sunday, wingwalker Todd Green was trying to perform his signature transfer from a wing to the skid of a helicopter when he fell about 200 feet to his death at the Selfridge Air Show near Detroit. By tragic coincidence, Kyle Franklin, whose wingwalking wife Amanda died of burns suffered in a March crash in Texas, was performing in his first air show since his wife's death and witnessed the accident. "It's really tragic," Franklin told reporters. "We are not thrill seekers trying to cheat death. We love what we do. We all know the risks involved."
On Saturday, Red Arrows pilot Flt. Lt. Jon Egging died after a low-level ejection in his Hawk aircraft at the Bournemouth Air Show and Bryan Jensen was killed when his highly modified Pitts Special, called The Beast, crashed on the field at the Kansas City Aviation Expo Air Show.
Egging was in formation with the Red Arrows when he split from the others and called a Mayday. Witnesses said he maneuvered the small jet trainer away from populated areas. His body was found face down in a river, not far from the wreckage of his aircraft. His wife and other members of his family attended the air show. Egging is being hailed as a hero. Jensen, a Delta Airlines 747 pilot, had been performing in air shows for 15 years. The aircraft, which had a modified Russian radial engine boosted to 412 horsepower, impacted vertically and caught fire.

Bachmann stands by $2 gas pledge
Bachmann stands by $2 gas pledge - Washington Times
“The price of gasoline the day that Barack Obama took office was $1.79 a gallon.
If the price of gasoline was $1.79 a gallon just two and three years ago, certainly we can get it back down to that level again.
Why wouldn’t we be able to do that?
Ummm, Michelle.
The entire world was on the brink of a financial meltdown when gas was $1.79.
That's why gas was so cheap.
You gonna bring us back there?

President Obama recently reminded General Motors‘ stockholders, all 311 million of us, that he’s calling the shots at America’s largest automaker, when he told an audience in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, that freedom to market was the price for the bailout:
“If we are going to help you [GM], then you have also got to change your ways.”
And then he stated the ways: electric cars, and isn’t it great that jillions of taxpayer dollars are being thrown at battery manufacturers?

Getting ready for a wave of coal-plant shutdowns
Getting ready for a wave of coal-plant shutdowns - Ezra Klein - The Washington Post
Industry groups such the Edison Electric Institute, which represents investor-owned utilities, and the American Legislative Exchange Council have dubbed the coming rules “EPA’s Regulatory Train Wreck.” The regulations, they say, will cost utilities up to $129 billion and force them to retire one-fifth of coal capacity.
Given that coal provides 45 percent of the country’s power, that means higher electric bills, more blackouts and fewer jobs.
We it will certainly be "change".
