Striking A Match

By Tammy Derouin

The level to which our country has sunk is appalling.  We embrace hate, death and deceit.  Those who break the laws, disregard rules, assist those who want to destroy us and spend more time lying than breathing, are elevated to higher positions in our government.  The people they deceive are the very people who reward them.   Many have allowed themselves to be conned into believing that wrong is now right.  How else do you explain such backwards behavior?

Hate, racism and phobias of all types imaginable are being created to cause chaos.  Using the phrase “political correctness” is a default excuse.  It’s used by our enemies, both foreign and domestic, to gain control of a once independent thinking people.

Civil disorder is being encouraged and fueled from the highest levels of our government.  Problems that either didn’t exist, or only existed on a small scale, have been repackaged and sold to strike a nerve.  But, it doesn’t end there.  Striking a nerve leads to striking a match.

What kind of society have we become?  We have allowed one person, one administration, to put us on a suicidal path. People are beginning to following the example of the administration by acting on their own to promote unrest.....

Mizzou officials are so sick of black student activists they start hiding from them - The College Fix:
Diversity chief says Spike Lee-endorsed protest is ‘unfair’
Concerned Student 1950 is wearing down everyone who comes into contact with the University of Missouri racial-protest group—even the hunger-striker who brought it to fame.
Mizzou’s new leaders are denouncing the group for a protest it held Monday, joined by film director Spike Lee, against the very diversity program in which the group is participating.
Jonathan Butler, the grad student whose hunger strike prompted the Mizzou football team to go on strike, also announced he’s exited the group partly for the sake of his health.
First smart thing he’s done all year
Although “The Working Group” racial task force conceived by Mizzou’s new diversity chief has met just three times since its February launch, Concerned Student 1950 is writing it off completely.
The group met on campus shortly before noon Monday with director Lee to protest the new committee, but it had trouble finding administrators willing to hear the activists.
...“A lot of people don’t see that we are trying to reach out, and they shut the door on us all the time,” Imani Simmons-Elloie, a member of the group, told Columbia Daily Tribune after the demonstration. “We’re the black kids that are crying wolf to everybody else.”...

"Further, the Washington Post reported that Clinton wrote 104 email messages that the government says are classified.

Whitaker believes the immunity deal is a very serious matter.
“You have the concentric circles of an investigation where you work from the outside in,” Whitaker said. “This tells me they’ve collected all of the physical and other evidence that they could without talking to folks and now they are working to the middle and this gentleman who set up the private email server, I think, is going to have a lot of key evidence that they couldn’t otherwise obtain.”

Immunity deals come when someone has exposure to criminal charges."

Nebraska: Lutherans, Somalis, meatpackers, mosques (and controversy) in small town America

Nebraska: Lutherans, Somalis, meatpackers, mosques (and controversy) in small town America « Refugee Resettlement Watch:
This is a story from late last month that should be nothing new to readers who have followed this blog since 2007.  We probably have 100 posts on this same subject, namely meatpackers working with the help of refugee resettlement contractors to spread Islam throughout the heartland.  LOL! Someone could write a book!
Lexington,_Nebraska
Meatpackers changing the face of the American heartland, here in Lexington, Nebraska.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexington,_Nebraska
The story about a clash in Lexington, Nebraska about the location of a new Somali mosque is the subject of this lengthy report from the Omaha World-Herald late last month. (Sorry, just getting around to it now!).
Reporter Paul Hammel begins with this:
LEXINGTON, Neb. — The old Longhorn Laundry is an unlikely place for a showdown over the First Amendment.
You could easily miss the nondescript concrete building on a quiet downtown corner of this old cow town.
But ever since a group of Somali workers from the local meatpacking plant spread out a sea of Persian rugs in the expansive former laundry and began holding Muslim prayer services five times a day, there has been controversy.
City officials maintain that mosque leaders are ignoring local zoning laws and thumbing their noses at requirements for building permits and fire-code inspections.
They insist that the flap is about a lack of parking, not a denial of religious freedom, and that it wasn’t spurred by “Islamophobia.”
The attraction is employment at Tyson Foods:
African Muslims, mostly from war-torn Somalia, started arriving in the mid-2000s. Census estimates put the number of Somalis in Lexington at 769 in 2014 — a 40 percent increase from 2000. Local Somalis and those who work with them say there actually may be 1,500 or more living in the community.
Across Nebraska, census estimates show 2,100 Somali-born residents clustered in Omaha and Lincoln, and near meatpacking plants in Grand Island and Madison, as well as Lexington.
Read the whole thing, it is well worth it.  Hammel interviewed many of the players in the drama, including the Lutheran resettlement contractor out of Omaha.

We also have many posts here at RRW about the controversy with Somalis in Grand Island, NE over the years. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com/?s=Grand+Island+Nebraska

What do the numbers look like?

To get an idea of what has been going on in Nebraska and because I wanted to know if Lexington’s Somalis are so-called ‘secondary migrants,’ I had a look at the US State Department data base and learned that since Obama was elected, Nebraska has ‘welcomed’ 6,716 refugees and the numbers have been increasing each of those years.
Most of the refugees (seeded in Nebraska by federal ‘church’ contractors) are Burmese or Iraqis, but of course Somalis have been resettled as well.   (There are small numbers of Muslim Burmese and the largest group of Iraqis we admit to the US are Muslims. Somalis are virtually all Muslim.)
The largest numbers went to Lincoln and Omaha, but I was surprised to see that the Lutheran agencies operating in the state placed 33 Somalis directly in Lexington which is well over a hundred miles from any resettlement office (unless one of the federal contractors has set up a subsidiary office way out Interstate 80 in Lexington).  The larger numbers of Somalis reported are indeed ‘secondary migrants’ (resettled in another state who then moved to Nebraska for meatpacking work.) I’ll look into this further…..
See what we have reported about Nebraska over the last few years by clicking here."

‘A New World-Wide Debt Bubble’ - world news - canmua.net:
"The Federal Reserve has been trying to prevent deflation, writes George Melloan, but the federal government has been “engineering its cause, excessive debt.”
And it’s not just our government.
Global debt of all types has soared above 300% of GDP, notes Mr. Melloan.
Near-zero interest rates not only enabled government spending but also “encouraged consumers and business to releverage.
Cars are now financed with low or no-interest five-year loans.
With the 2008 housing debacle forgotten, easier mortgage terms have made a comeback.
Corporations also couldn’t let cheap money go to waste, so they have piled up debts to buy back their own stock.
Such ‘investment’ produces no economic growth, but it has to be paid back nonetheless.”"

Monsters!-----Disturbing ISIS Video: We Will Attack America 'Very Soon'

Disturbing ISIS Video: We Will Attack America 'Very Soon'
The Islamic State produces another despicable, highly-graphic video.
It warns Barack Obama it will strike against the U.S. in the same way it hit Paris.
“We will kill, slaughter and burn your people.
Inshallah, we will attack you very soon.”
That’s the dire warning to Americans in a just-published video from the ‘Islamic State Supporters’.
The narrator invokes the Paris attacks of 2015 and warns U.S. President Barack Obama he can expect the same treatment in the homeland.
As is customary, the video ends with a beheading.
However, this time the chilling conclusion is more graphic than in many previous ISIS films.
Not only does one witness the entire process but as the main executioner beheads his Syrian victim, he stops mid-cutting and stares menacingly at the camera for several seconds to make sure there is no room to misunderstand his intentions.
The narrator speaks in English but sometimes the words are difficult to understand so we at Clarion have added subtitles.
WARNING: This video includes highly-graphic, disturbing images:

Water utilities serving American cities use tests that downplay contamination

Water utilities serving American cities use tests that downplay contamination | Environment | The Guardian:
Guardian analysis reveals millions of customers were asked to used testing method condemned by the EPA which may flush out detectable lead content
Water utilities in some of the largest cities in the US that collectively serve some 12 million people have used tests that downplay the amount of lead contamination found in drinking water for more than a decade, a Guardian analysis of testing protocols reveals.
In the tests, utilities ask customers who sample their home’s water for lead to remove the faucet’s aerator screen and to flush lines hours before tests, potentially flushing out detectable lead contamination.
The distorted tests, condemned by the Environmental Protection Agency, have taken place in cities including Chicago, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Columbus, Ohio.
The improper screening could decrease the chance of detecting potentially dangerous levels of lead in water, the EPA has said.
The analysis comes on the heels of an EPA letter, which repeated earlier warnings to utilities not to use such methods, and Guardian reporting that revealed water customers in “every major US city east of the Mississippi” could be drinking water tested using questionable methods.
...It was in 2006 that the EPA first issued guidance advising against test practices that scientists call deceptive, including removing aerators, pre-flushing lines and using small-necked bottles to collect samples.
That year, the agency said removing aerators could result in improperly lowering lead in water samples..."

Bank CEO reveals how Obama administration shook him down

Bank CEO reveals how Obama administration shook him down | New York Post:
The former CEO of Ally Financial Inc. says the Obama administration abused its power by holding the bank’s business hostage in order to coerce a record settlement of “trumped-up” racism charges and push profit-killing new regulations on the entire auto-lending industry.
The huge $100 million deal has spooked several other major lenders into resolving similar race-bias charges and offering below-market rates to minorities for car loans.
Michael A. Carpenter, who helmed Detroit-based Ally from 2009 to 2015, complained in an exclusive interview that Obama’s powerful consumer watchdog agency threatened to derail the bank’s efforts to obtain key regulatory approvals if it didn’t agree to settle the allegations out of court.
“To be strong-armed by a regulator was inappropriate to say the least,” he said.
“They absolutely knew they had tremendous leverage over us.”
Since the 2013 deal, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has accused the industry’s biggest lenders of ripping off black and other minority customers by charging them higher interest rates than whites.
But Carpenter says there’s no merit to the accusations.
He suggests they’re merely a means to a political end: forcing car dealers to abandon discretionary pricing and equalizing credit outcomes, regardless of borrower creditworthiness.
He warns moving to flat-rate financing, as the administration wants, would limit the industry’s ability to make a profit and cover risk and would be like “signing our own death warrant.”

Important read-----What the Campus Crybully Wars Are Really About

What the Campus Crybully Wars Are Really About | Frontpage Mag
The campus wars aren’t really about race.
Race and the rest of the identity politics roster are the engine for transforming an academic environment into an activist environment.

...While black students are the public face of the campaign, behind them are embedded faculty radicals like Melissa Click whose abuses recently led to her firing from the University of Missouri.
Click’s body of work, gender, race and sexuality analyses of popular culture, is fairly typical of the activist faculty behind the power grab.
Media studies is often confused with journalism, but the two have little in common.
Media studies has become a guide to politicizing culture by viewing it through the intersectional lens.
...When we talk about political correctness, it isn’t just about banning certain jokes.
That’s the smallest part of it.
Political correctness is about making the political filter, the left’s lens, mandatory for all.
The campus wars are dividing universities between academic departments and activist departments.
The activist demands call for embedding activism deeper into the structure of universities with more activist deans, departments and professors dedicated to their agenda.
Funding is diverted from education to activism.
Activist curriculums become mandatory to recruit more student activists.
...While race is being used as a Trojan horse for the crybully movement, the practical outcome of such policies would make academic departments subservient to activist departments.
The latter would take over and hollow out the former leaving nothing but worthless degrees and student debt.
Graduates would be qualified to do little except be activists and “allies” in their chosen fields.
Their mission would be to propagate and enforce politically correct doctrines in the classical Soviet political commissar sense.
Safe space culture would silence dissent among faculty and students while creating activist student-faculty organizations empowered to conduct an endless cycle of purges and protests.
College would be free and utterly useless for anything except turning out the next generation of community organizers.
It is not only the ideas themselves that are endangered, but the entire mechanism for exchanging them.
The activist model would not only eliminate intellectual diversity, it would eliminate education.
The campus wars are about political correctness as a way of life.
Inside every crybully wailing about their fragility is a totalitarian screaming to be put in charge of every single professor and student.

Miracle drink!-----A New Study Claims Coffee Could Prevent Premature Death

A New Study Claims Coffee Could Prevent Premature Death:
Go ahead and have that second, third and fourth espresso this afternoon.
A new study suggests drinking more coffee could prevent premature death.
Published in the journal Circulation, the study looked at data from 167,000 women and 40,000 men at different points in their lives, concluding that "higher consumption of total coffee, caffeinated coffee and decaffeinated coffee was associated with lower risk of total mortality."
According to Walter Willett, a researcher from the Harvard School of Public Health and one of the study's authors, people who drink three to five cups of coffee per day had a 15% lower risk of premature mortality, or a potentially preventable death that occurs before the person's expected age.
You don't have to be a caffeine fan to benefit:
The study found decaf coffee worked just fine, and that the results are probably from the phytochemicals and other nutrients found in coffee beans.
"We went beyond total mortality and looked at specific causes of death," Willett told NPR.
"And we found that people who drink moderate amounts of coffee have lower risk of [death] from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurologic disease [such as Parkinson's] and suicide."

Iran conducts new missile tests defying US sanctions

Iran conducts new missile tests defying US sanctions - Yahoo News:
Tehran (AFP) - Iran conducted multiple ballistic missile tests Tuesday in what it said was a display of "deterrent power," defying US sanctions imposed earlier this year aimed at disrupting its missile programme.
State media announced that short-, medium- and long-range precision guided missiles were fired from several sites to show the country's "all-out readiness to confront threats" against its territorial integrity.
...Ballistic missile tests have been seen as a means for Iran's military to demonstrate that the nuclear deal will have no impact on its plans, which is says are for domestic defence only.
..."Our main enemies, the Americans, who mutter about plans, have activated new missile sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran and are seeking to weaken the country’s missile capability," Hajizadeh said.
...Iran has always denied seeking an atomic weapon and argues that its missiles would never be designed to, nor ever carry, the bomb..."

This University of Oregon Study on Feminizing Glaciers Might Make You Root for Trump

This University of Oregon Study on Feminizing Glaciers Might Make You Root for Trump - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
"What does gender theory have to do with climate change and the depiction of glaciers in popular culture?
You can decide for yourself by reading what must be the least essential paper ever written:
Glacier"Glaciers, Gender, and Science—A feminist glaciology framework for global environmental climate change."
The recently published, utterly incomprehensible paper was co-authored by a team of historians at the University of Oregon, and funded via a grant from the National Science Foundation.
I hope American taxpayers feel like they got their money's worth.
From the abstract:
Glaciers are key icons of climate change and global environmental change.
However, the relationships among gender, science, and glaciers – particularly related to epistemological questions about the production of glaciological knowledge – remain understudied. This paper thus proposes a feminist glaciology framework with four key components:
(1) knowledge producers;
(2) gendered science and knowledge;
(3) systems of scientific domination; and
(4) alternative representations of glaciers.
Merging feminist postcolonial science studies and feminist political ecology, the feminist glaciology framework generates robust analysis of gender, power, and epistemologies in dynamic social-ecological systems, thereby leading to more just and equitable science and human-ice interactions.
...But the paper is real—very real.
The University of Oregon, in fact, put out a glowing press release touting its existence..."

IAEA: Iran Nuke Deal Limits Public Reporting on Violations:
"The head of the international community’s nuclear watchdog organization disclosed Monday that certain agreements reached under the Iran nuclear deal limit inspectors from publicly reporting on potential violations by the Islamic Republic.
Yukiya Amano, chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, which is responsible for ensuring Iran complies with the agreement, told reporters that his agency is no longer permitted to release details about Iran’s nuclear program and compliance with the deal.
Amano’s remarks come on the heels of a February IAEA oversight report that omitted many details and figures related to Iran’s nuclear program.
The report sparked questions from outside nuclear experts and accusations from critics that the IAEA was not being transparent with its findings.
Amano disclosed in response to questions from reporters that the last report was intentionally vague because the nuclear agreement prohibits the IAEA from publishing critical data about Iran’s program that had been disclosed by the agency in the past..."

The marijuana industry has a dirty little secret | New York Post:
Moving the black market in marijuana into the light has been a boon for state tax coffers, entrepreneurs and cannabis users, but an inconvenient fact went unaddressed in the process: Potentially dangerous chemicals are used to grow it.
That changed last fall, when a Colorado newspaper’s investigation found shelves stocked with products grown using pesticides that hadn’t been approved for cannabis farming, spurring a rush of legal, regulatory and business activity.
...There is even concern that the federal government could intervene out of concern for public health, stalling the spread of cannabis legalization and the growth it has fostered.
...Growers have turned to pesticides — such as myclobutanil, which breaks down into an asphyxiant that can cause various forms of sickness when burned, and the insecticide imidacloprid..."
