Follow Directions

By Tammy Derouin

There are always people in life that you come in contact with but you don’t understand why until a later time.  When I was in Junior High, I had a teacher that I wouldn’t truly appreciate until later in life.  Like most teachers, he taught more than one subject. I found myself in several of his challenging classes.  He was an extrovert and I was a struggling introvert.  It wasn’t an easy fit.

Eventually, I was assigned to his American Literature class.  He could recite poems and discuss the classics with ease.  He seemed to have a genuine passion for literature. My interest in reading was beginning to develop so I chose one of his suggestions for an upcoming book report.  We were then informed it would be an oral report.  My enthusiasm took a nose dive.

He was tough and there was a little fear upon entering his classroom.  He challenged his students.  If you tried, did your best but most importantly, you didn't give up, there seemed to be a softer edge, if ever so briefly.  We were critiqued and given constructive criticism. Our reward, regardless of the actual grade, was a feeling of accomplishment. We also gained experience and were better equipped for the next report.

He was known for his humorous yet dead on comments.  Looking back, the likes of Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain must have inspired him.  I’ve also compared his ability to serve up an undeniable and much needed point, with a side of humor, to Ronald Reagan.

As I watched yet another unbelievable week of scandalous deeds and behavior along with the predictable explanation of the Leftist administration and its lap dog press, a fitting saying which was said many times over by my challenging teacher, came to mind.  When all else fails, follow directions.

Now the EPA’s science advisors don’t like their own report on fracking

Now the EPA’s science advisors don’t like their own report on fracking « Hot Air
"The draft report on hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) from the EPA is nearing the end of its more than five year journey and the findings were a major blow to the green energy crowd.
Try as they might, there simply was no evidence of systemic contamination to ground water or other resources and the report essentially gives the practice a qualified thumbs up.
That didn’t sit well with the major environmentalist donors to the Democrats, so plans have been in the works to sabotage the report.
That showed up this week when the ad hoc panel of science advisors to the EPA released their own rebuttal, claiming that the wording of the report isn’t up to par. (Washington Post)
Science advisers to the Environmental Protection Agency Thursday challenged an already controversial government report on whether thousands of oil and gas wells that rely on hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” systemically pollute drinking water across the nation.
That EPA draft report, many years in the making and still not finalized, had concluded, “We did not find evidence that these mechanisms have led to widespread, systemic impacts on drinking water resources in the United States,” adding that while there had been isolated problems, those were “small compared to the number of hydraulically fractured wells.”…
But in a statement sure to prolong the already multiyear scientific debate on fracking and its influence on water, the 30-member advisory panel on Thursday concluded the agency’s report was “comprehensive but lacking in several critical areas.”
It recommended that the report be revised to include “quantitative analysis that supports its conclusion” — if, indeed, this central conclusion can be defended.
This board isn’t even arguing that they have evidence to the contrary. (Which would have been a neat trick since such “evidence” doesn’t appear to exist.)
They simply don’t like the positive nature of the wording and would like to see even more test results than have already been submitted.
They’re not saying that they have proof that fracking is dangerous… they’re just saying that the industry hasn’t proven that it isn’t..."

Milwaukee Burns, Louisiana Floods, Obama Golfs

Milwaukee Burns, Louisiana Floods, Obama Golfs | The Daily Caller:
Racially-charged riots in Milwaukee and rampant flooding in Louisiana haven’t kept President Barack Obama from golfing on Martha’s Vineyard Monday afternoon for the second consecutive day.

The federal government declared a major disaster in Louisiana after rampant flooding left six people dead and more than 10,000 in shelters. More than 20,000 people have been rescued from flooding across south Louisiana, Fox News reports.
In Milwaukee, authorities have struggled to control racially-charged riots stemming from the police shooting of an armed suspect on Saturday. Both the suspect and the officer were black. Several videos recording Saturday night appeared to show black rioters chasing down and attacking white passerby. (RELATED: Milwaukee Rioters Hunt Down, Attack Whites)
At 11:15 a.m. Monday morning, President Obama arrived at Vineyard Golf Club, where he’ll spend the afternoon golfing with businessman Marty Nesbitt, lawyer Cy Walker and former NBA player Alonzo Mourning, according to White House pool reports. The weather was described as a “pitch-perfect afternoon...”

NASA: Antarctic ice sheet is...wait, showing gains?

NASA: Antarctic ice sheet is...wait, showing gains?:
"...A new NASA study says that an increase in Antarctic snow accumulation that began 10,000 years ago is currently adding enough ice to the continent to outweigh the increased losses from its thinning glaciers.
The research challenges the conclusions of other studies, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) 2013 report, which says that Antarctica is overall losing land ice.
According to the new analysis of satellite data, the Antarctic ice sheet showed a net gain of 112 billion tons of ice a year from 1992 to 2001. That net gain slowed to 82 billion tons of ice per year between 2003 and 2008.
All this time, the “melting” of glaciers and ice caps has been the driving force behind leftists claims that we have to run in fear of man made global warming. Except there’s more ice.
Now allow me to clarify, because some of you may be saying “Hey Crowder, ‘more’ is a relative term.” That’s true. But in this case, ‘more’ actually equates to hundreds of billions of tons. That, my friends, is what we call, “statistically significant.”
Here’s some more to chew on; the worst case scenario – meaning the absolute worst case that is even humanly feasible, let alone possible – is that if the net gain continued to slow at its current rate… it would still take at least three decades before we got to a point of beginning to see net losses.
Meaning we’d still gain trillions of tons of ice between now and say 2046 before we started to see a net loss of ice. Meaning at that point, continuing at the worst rate we can possibly project, we’d have many decades before ice volume fell to 2015 levels . Let alone levels of 30 years ago, before this whole scare started.
Sorry, was that too much math?..."

Sheriff David Clarke: Democrats Strap People to the Liberal Plantation for Votes and Political Power | Glenn Beck:

"“How do we get past this point, David, where we’re not worried about words anymore, we’re actually worried about deeds and we’re worried about how we heal this rift?” Glenn asked.

“I call things for what they are. And what has happened over time, as you know, is the left, this modern liberalism push, this progressive movement has tried to control the language. And they know they can control the narrative. They’ve tried to cleanse the narrative so that it’s easier for unsuspecting people to deal with, right?” Clarke said.

Ontario doctors reject tentative four-year deal, creating situation of ‘complete uncertainty’

Ontario doctors reject tentative four-year deal, creating situation of ‘complete uncertainty’ | National Post:
"Ontario doctors have voted resoundingly to reject a tentative fee agreement with the provincial government, creating a situation of “complete uncertainty” and prolonging an internal battle within the medical profession.
Sixty-three per cent of its members who voted Sunday rejected a four-year deal, the Ontario Medical Association said Monday.
Image result for free medical careThe four-year tentative deal included an annual 2.5 per cent increase to the total budget for doctors’ fees, now about $11.5 billion a year. It included a promise not to impose further cuts on doctors, as the Liberal government did last year and in its 2012 round of bargaining. It included $370 million over the four years to encourage doctors to “co-manage” the system with the provincial health ministry in a bid to reduce costs.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins said was disappointed with the vote, while opposition parties charged the government with poisoning talks from the start by imposing cuts.
It’s now hard to envision a quiet return to the negotiating table.
“The OMA has in some ways weakened itself by exposing its divisions,” said Nelson Wiseman, director of the Canadian studies program at the University of Toronto."

From Whitewater to Benghazi: A Primer on Bill and Hillary Clinton Scandals

From Whitewater to Benghazi: A Primer on Bill and Hillary Clinton Scandals - The Atlantic
Newly released emails show the complicated nature of ties between the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton-led State Department—and the high risk of conflicts of interest.
The conservative accountability group Judicial Watch released Tuesday night a tranche of nearly 300 emails it obtained through a lawsuit, and they paint a picture of some of the conflicts of interest created by a situation in which Hillary Clinton ran U.S. foreign policy as her husband’s foundation acted around the globe.
Many of the emails are redacted, and some are almost comically boring—“No new voice messages,” one reads in full—but others are not.
In one of the more piquant interactions, from April 2009, Doug Band, a close confidant of former President Clinton who was then in charge of the foundation’s Clinton Global Initiative, pressed top Clinton aides Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills for a connection at the State Department for Gilbert Chagoury, a Nigerian-Lebanese billionaire who was a major benefactor of the Clinton Foundation.
“It’s jeff feltman. I’m sure he knows him. I’ll talk to jeff,” Abedin replied, referring to the then-U.S. ambassador to Lebanon.
Band responded, “Better if you call him. Now preferable. This is very important… He’s awake I’m sure.”
It’s unclear from the emails what Chagoury wanted to talk about.
According to Clinton Foundation records, Chagoury has given the charity between $1 and $5 million, and pledged $1 billion to CGI.
He had ties to the former Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha, according to The Wall Street Journal, as well as to Christian politicians in highly sectarian Lebanon.
In 2000, he paid a $66 million fine in Nigeria as part of a plea deal in a money-laundering case..."

Olympic Shooter Kim Rhode Fires Back at Gun Control

Olympic Shooter Kim Rhode Fires Back at Gun Control | PJ Media:
"Skeet shooter and five time Olympic medalist Kim Rhode spoke to Time magazine as she prepared for her sixth Olympic competition in Rio.
Of course, they asked Rhode about the politically charged gun issue.
Fortunately for the firearms community, the superstar skeet shooter is an able advocate for the Second Amendment.
“We have that stigma attached to our sport,” said Rhode.
“When you are talking to a NASCAR driver, they’re not asked to comment on an incident that occurred with a vehicle.”
Isn't that the truth.
...The media elite and gun control movement is entirely ignorant about the American cultural traditions centered around firearms.
They view all firearms as death weapons, but many in America associate their firearms with family hunting trips or days spent together at the gun range.
...One very sad consequence of being an Olympic shooter and an articulate supporter of the Second Amendment is the lack of corporate sponsors other champion athletes enjoy.
She is sponsored by Beretta and Winchester but not Nike or Under Armour.
Will we see Rhode on a box of Wheaties?
Most likely not.

Rio 2016: Food and Drink Is Running Out

Rio 2016: Food and Drink Is Running Out
"There is not enough food and drink for visitors at the 2016 Rio Olympics, even though the Games started just six days ago.
Attendees queued for hours at food stalls, only to find that everything had run out when they reached the counter, reported the Sydney Morning Herald.
On Saturday, food stalls at the Future Arena—where handball games are played—were forced to shut early because there were no more supplies left.
The International Olympics Committee (IOC) had raised complaints with the organizing committee of the Games, the organizers confirmed.
Some spectators have left stadiums in the hope of finding supplies elsewhere, according to Mario Andrada, an organizing committee spokesman. However, he added that the situation was being dealt with, and “new food trucks, more efficient water supply, and free water supplies,” were on the way.
Many took to Twitter to express their dismay at the reported food shortages at the Olympics.

Journalist Pulls Out of Milwaukee After Witnessing Shocking Racist Behavior Targeting Whites | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"“Upon arriving here, one of the first things we hear is the crowd getting angry and saying, ‘What are these white people doing here?’” Pool said.

While that statement alone wasn’t enough to cause Pool to pack up his things, other protesters screaming, “F*** white people!” and “White people suck!” did contribute to his decision. Pool cited two specific examples in which he said one reporter was threatened by a protester and “told to leave.” Another, he said, was “smacked upside the head” by someone who later encouraged others to “attack” the group of reporters."

Why clerks are encouraging absentee ballots for November's election

Why clerks are encouraging absentee ballots for November's election | MLive.com
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Officially, your local government clerk doesn't want you to lie.
But if taking out an absentee voter ballot gets you to participate in this fall's presidential election – without compounding the crowds expected at polling places – they're not going to ask if you're telling the truth about why you want one.
...Don't want to vote in a church building because it violates your religious faith, or lack of faith?
Get an absentee ballot.
Can't come to the polls because you'll be busy praying that day?
Get an absentee ballot.
"If people even think they're going to be absent from their community, we do encourage people to (apply for an absentee ballot)," said Justin Roebuck, Ottawa County clerk. "(The legal criteria) doesn't say 'I will be absent.' It says 'I expect to be absent.'
We'd rather that person vote than forget once they're gone."
...A federal judge last month granted a request for a preliminary injunction to block enforcement of the straight-ticket voting ban, and Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette now is seeking a stay of that injunction.

Houston schools spend $1.2 million to ditch Confederate building names; parents sue

Houston schools spend $1.2 million to ditch Confederate building names; parents sue - The College Fix:
"Parents are irate that the Houston Independent School District will spend over one million dollars for the costs associated with the renaming of eight schools — so irate, in fact, that they’re suing.
Superintendent Ken Huewitt asked the school board to approve the $1,245,197 on Thursday, and had said on Monday that this agenda item was in response to the lawsuit.
As the Houston Chronicle reports, the lawsuit suit claims that, at a past board meeting, the costs for renaming were initiall
y listed as “none.”
Then, in May, the costs were listed as coming from the “general fund – fund balance.”
Some of name changes include:

— Dowling Middle School to Audrey H. Lawson Middle School. Richard Dowling was a Confederate army officer; Lawson “was a community activist and founding first lady of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church” who started two charter schools.

— Jackson Middle School to the Yolanda Black Navarro Middle School of Excellence. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson was a Confederate general; Navarro was a “committed civic leader [who] served Houston well by serving on the METRO Board and the Houston Parks Board” and founder of the Association for the Advancement of Mexican-Americans.

— Lee (formerly Robert E. Lee) High School to Margaret Long Wisdom High School. General Robert E. Lee was commander of the Confederate army; Wisdom taught in the Houston schools for 38 years and was once president of the Congress of Houston Teachers."

Written WEDNESDAY, MAR 6, 2013 -----Hugo Chavez’s economic miracle

Hugo Chavez’s economic miracle - Salon.com
"The Venezuelan leader was often marginalized as a radical.
But his brand of socialism achieved real economic gains
Image result for Hugo Chavez’s economic miracle...“Venezuela is recognized by many scholars to be more democratic than it was in the pre-Chávez era”).
...No, Chavez became the bugaboo of American politics because his full-throated advocacy of socialism and redistributionism at once represented a fundamental critique of neoliberal economics, and also delivered some indisputably positive results.
Indeed, as shown by some of the most significant indicators, Chavez racked up an economic record that a legacy-obsessed American president could only dream of achieving.
For instance, according to data compiled by the UK Guardian, Chavez’s first decade in office saw Venezuelan GDP more than double and both infant mortality and unemployment almost halved.
Then there is a remarkable graph from the World Bank that shows that under Chavez’s brand of socialism, poverty in Venezuela plummeted (the Guardian reports that its “extreme poverty” rate fell from 23.4 percent in 1999 to 8.5 percent just a decade later).
In all, that left the country with the third lowest poverty rate in Latin America.
Additionally, as Weisbrot points out, “college enrollment has more than doubled, millions of people have access to health care for the first time and the number of people eligible for public pensions has quadrupled.”
When a country goes socialist and it craters, it is laughed off as a harmless and forgettable cautionary tale about the perils of command economics.
When, by contrast, a country goes socialist and its economy does what Venezuela’s did, it is not perceived to be a laughing matter – and it is not so easy to write off or to ignore.
It suddenly looks like a threat to the corporate capitalism, especially when said country has valuable oil resources that global powerhouses like the United States rely on..."

What Trump Did To Blacks And Jews 30 Years Ago Just Surfaced... This Could Change The Whole Election

What Trump Did To Blacks And Jews 30 Years Ago Just Surfaced... This Could Change The Whole Election - World Politicus:
"Donald Trump as well as his fellow Republicans have been often accused of having no tolerance for the Blacks nor the Jews- basically they were racists.
...VIA Western Journalism
In 1997, Trump defied societal conventions when he purchased his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida and converted it into a private club.
Prior to Trump’s arrival, other clubs in the Pam Beach area “had long barred Jews and African Americans — which is to say they practiced a quiet but steely racism,” wrote Jeffrey Lord on The American Spectator.
“He put the light on Palm Beach,” said Abe Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League. “Not on the beauty and the glitter, but on its seamier side of discrimination. It has an impact.”
Trump went further, asking the town council to lift the existing restrictions on the club, and sending them a copy of, “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner,” a film whose characters defy the race-based discrimination of the day.
The town council would not budge, leading Trump to file a $100 million lawsuit alleging the town was “discriminating against Mar-a-Lago, in part because it is open to Jews and African Americans,” reported The American Spectator.
The incident was profiled in a 1997 Wall Street Journal piece that discussed Trump’s clash with Palm Beach.
Eventually, Palm Beach put an end to their discriminatory restrictions.
“In other words, long before he was running for president, there was Donald Trump battling racism and anti-Semitism in Palm Beach society.
Using every tool at his disposal,” wrote Lord.
He continued, “In today’s world the Left demands racial quotas and supports illegal immigration. What all of these things have in common is that they are designed to divide Americans by race, to divide by skin color.”
Lord said Trump’s actions show the falsehood in the accusations of racism leveled against him.
“The good news here that in Donald Trump someone — finally — is standing up to fight back. Just as he fought back all those years ago in Palm Beach when no one was looking.”"

FED UP Germans Put Obama to Shame, Make Devastating Move Against 45,000 Radical Muslims

FED UP Germans Put Obama to Shame, Make Devastating Move Against 45,000 Radical Muslims:

"The world has a perfect example of what happens when you let in waves of improperly vetted, or in some cases probably not vetted at all, refugees.

Germany is finally waking up and doing something about it, but what do Obama and Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton want to do? Bring in more unvetted refugees.

Common sense would have told anyone that this is a bad idea, yet when you have a clear example, it’s downright criminal. Clinton cannot be allowed anywhere near the White House to extend the failure that is the Obama administration."

"Hitler’s favourite car company, VW, is in hot water over its electronic key which has a security vulnerably which makes it easy for hackers to open the car doors.
According to Wired,  security researchers found they can  use software defined radio (SDR) to remotely unlock hundreds of millions of cars.
vw...The UoB also found another security hole which affects Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Fiat, Ford, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, and Peugeot.
It exploits a much older cryptographic scheme used in key fobs called HiTag2.
The hacker has to do some electronic eavesdropping to capture a series of codes sent out by a remote key fob.
Once a few codes had been gathered, the encryption scheme can be encyrpted in under a minute.
When the attacks might appear a bit convoluted, it is thought that they are behind a rash of car thefts, including a few in the US as hackers exploit the power of 1990s-era automotive-grade encryption with cheap hacking gear."
