Parody or Does She Believe It? CNN Anchor Blames Asteroid on Global Warming

Parody or Does She Believe It? CNN Anchor Blames Asteroid on Global Warming | NewsBusters
"CNN anchor Deb Feyerick asked Saturday afternoon if an approaching asteroid, which will pass by Earth on February 15, “is an example of, perhaps, global warming?”
Moments earlier, before an ad break, she segued from the Northeast blizzard to a segment with Bill Nye “the science guy,” by pointing to global warming:
“Every time we see a storm like this lately, the first question to pop into a lot of people’s minds is whether or not global warming is to blame?
I’ll talk to Bill Nye, ‘the science guy,’ about devastating storms and climate change.”
She never got to that question in the subsequent interview at about 3:25 PM EST during CNN Newsoom, instead transitioning from a snowfall update:
“Talk about something else that’s falling from the sky and that is an asteroid.
What’s coming our way?
Is this an effect of, perhaps, of global warming or is this just some meteoric occasion?”
Nye resisted confirming her hypothesis."

Why Are There So Many Murders in Chicago?

Why Are There So Many Murders in Chicago? | Newgeography.com
"Politically controlled policing.  Mayor Daley hired Jody Weis from the FBI as police superintendent, but neutered his ability to run the department by assigning a political operative as Weis’ chief of staff.
Similarly, Rahm Emanuel, a fan of centralized control, has been heavily involved in driving major decisions like disbanding the anti-gang strike forces.
It’s not clear whether police decisions have been driven by purely professional crime fighting concerns or, as in likely given the city’s culture, political considerations."

The Mackinac Center for Public Policy used teacher salary averages reported by the NEA in 2009-10, the latest year data was available.
The Center then factored in a state-by-state cost of living index available from political scientists William Berry, Richard Fording and Russell Hanson.
Their index values adjust for cost-of-living in every state from 1960 to 2007.
Another education website had Michigan No. 2 in the country when factoring in cost of living with salaries."

Our Future Will be Hunger Games USA
"So, if the educated, literate and monied people are all going to be congregating around the “Capital City” and illiteracy (and the eventual poverty it will bring) are to be acceptable alternatives for some of us, then we are well on our way to living out The Hunger Games in all of its blithe vulgarity and hardscrabble pain."
