“President Trump has agreed to lift the steel and aluminum tariffs that were placed on products coming from Canada and Mexico, with those countries agreeing to lift retaliatory tariffs on products like pork and dairy in no later than 48 hours.
“The steel and aluminum tariffs were initially imposed on Canada and Mexico as a means to deal with China and other countries dumping these metals into our northern and southern bordering countries in order to flood our markets and destroy our domestic aluminum and steel industries.
...“The renegotiation of the tri-lateral trade agreement between Canada, Mexico and the United States is the lynchpin of the Trump trade agenda as it includes intellectual property and forced technology transfer language, along with currency manipulation prohibitions which will be incorporated in future trade bills with other nations..."

In fact allowing the losers to come up with one way after another to try and delegitimise an election they lost is bad on its own because the ability to “throw the bums out” is a key feature of democracy. If voters can’t trust that their votes will be respected they are likely to resort to other methods of expressing their displeasure with the current set of rulers and that is something that these rulers may come to regret. The good news is that the New AG seems to be doing his job and turning over any number of stones that various parties would have preferred remained unexamined.It is unclear to me how many of the plotters will end up in the poor house or jail – sadly I suspect most will skate – which means that the distrust of government which fired up the Tea Party and the Trump campaign is not going to dissipate.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official said late Friday that plans to send migrant families to South Florida have been put on hold temporarily following a backlash from state lawmakers.
The development came after Broward and Palm Beach county officials said they were notified by U.S. Border Patrol that more than a 100 immigrants would be sent weekly to each of the counties starting in the next two weeks. According to NPR, the official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the agency will not be “transporting any family units to Florida at this time,” but left the door open to “possibly housing and processing migrants at other U.S. Border Patrol sectors across the nation.”

“If you can’t read this [Arabic writing], thank a Marine,” the sticker read.
...Gross tells WCIA a Marine that served in Iraq gave him the bumper sticker and it has been in his restaurant for over a decade.
“He brought it in and asked me to put it up, and I said sure go ahead and put it up and it's been there for all these years," he said.
Despite the negative feedback the sticker received, Gross’ Burgers still appears to be doing well.

Breaking: Big Election Upset in Australia | Power Line
"Australia held a national election yesterday which all of the polls predicted for weeks would be won handily by the Labour Party.
The ruling Liberal Party (which is the conservative party in Australian politics because they still understand the historic meaning of liberalism) has been in office for over a decade, and had struggled as ruling parties often do when they grow stale in office.
In fact leadership fights within the Liberal Party had left it in chaos heading into the election campaign.
The pollsters and the media called it an “unlosable election” for Labour.
But in a stunning upset, the Liberal Party has won the election.
It sounds a lot like our 2016 election, no?
Apparently lots of voters told the pollsters one thing, but voted differently in the voting booth.
...The most interesting angle to this upset is that the Labour Party went all-in on climate change. Here’s how AFP covered it in the run-up to yesterday:

And if they cannot do that then at least we should have a revolution. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders rallied support for the Green New Deal, with the New York congresswoman saying there should be “no middle ground” when it comes to climate change and the Vermont senator calling for a political revolution.
And yes, Cortez is still saying that the world is going to end in 12 years if we do not address climate change (man-made global warming.)
The BBC loves Cortez’s ideas and publishes titles like ‘Final call to save the world from ‘climate catastrophe.’...
