US schools lose god-like powers over internet - Have to obey the constitution

US schools lose god-like powers over internet - Have to obey the constitution | TechEye
A US school is in shock after discovering that it did not have the power of God over its students' internet use.
Minnewaska Area Schools thought that all that stuff about human rights and the constitution did not apply to its staff when they forced a student to hand over her social media passwords to a school so they could snoop through her off-campus life.
It now looks like a US judge has reminded them of their status in society and told them clearly that forcing a student to give up their social media passwords is a violation of the First Amendment.
The school is coughing up $70,000 in damages and rewriting its policies to prevent further abuse.
However it seems that US schools really do not have a clue when it comes to thinking that they have the power of life and death over their students.
A Rogers High School senior Reid Sagehorn, a 17-year-old student and football captain, was suspended for seven weeks for a two word internet posting.
The Minnewaska case also really has not been resolved because the school still does not see that it has done anything wrong.
The appropriately named Greg Schmidt, Superintendent, who wasn't in that position when the snooping occurred but did work on the settlement was quoted as saying "we want to make kids aware that their actions outside school can be detrimental"

Actually, Schmidt, a judge just said that it is not your job, are you deaf boy?
Now write out 100 times "The US constitution says I should not invade by student's privacy".

Ramiro Sanchez gets 6-plus years for rape of girl with Downs Syndrome that enraged southwest Detroit | MLive.com:
"Police interviewed Sanchez but he wasn't charged until October, after results of a DNA test were completed.
According to state police, it wasn't until 20 days after the rape kit evidence was collected that the kit was delivered to the forensic lab.
"We all feel that there is a disconnect, there is something wrong with the DPD Sex Crimes Unit," Deb Sumner, founder of the Clark Park Coalition, said weeks after the incident.
"Why would anyone sit on evidence like that?
Why wasn’t it sent within one to two days to the state police?"
Sanchez accepted a plea deal weeks before he was scheduled for trial."

Video: Veteran Teacher Reveals the Shocking Intimidation She’s Faced for Opposing Common Core in Tearful Testimony | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Though she claims she has been intimidated and bullied for opposing Common Core, a Missouri kindergarten teacher reportedly testified Thursday in support of a bill that would prohibit the controversial state standards in the state’s public schools.

Speaking before the Missouri Senate Education Committee, Susan Kimball said she has been “strongly discouraged from saying anything negative about Common Core by my administration and some school board members.”

The 20-year veteran teacher also recalled a “professional development meeting” where she was allegedly told: “Be careful about what you post on Facebook, or talk about in the public regarding Common Core. Don’t say anything negative. It could affect your job.”"

Newt Gingrich's Plan to Stave Off the Apocalypse

Newt Gingrich's Plan to Stave Off the Apocalypse - NationalJournal.com
Within a year, nine out of 10 Americans could be dead.
And whatever causes the national apocalypse—be it North Korean malice or the whims of the sun—the downfall will ultimately be our own fault.
That's the fear of Newt Gingrich and other members of a high-profile coalition who are convinced that our fragile electrical grid could be wiped out at any moment.
Their concern?
Electromagnetic pulses, the short bursts of energy—caused by anything from a nuclear blast to a solar flare—that can wreak havoc on electrical systems on a massive scale.
And the coalition believes it's coming soon.
"I think we're running out of time," said Peter Pry, a former CIA officer and head of a congressional advisory board on national security.
And if the worst happens?
"This gets translated into mass fatalities, because our modern civilization can't feed, transport, or provide law and order without electricity," he said.

The coalition's members insist the scenario is a real threat, and not the plot of a Michael Bay movie or a Cormac McCarthy novel.
They believe a single nuclear blast at 300-400 kilometers in altitude—about the height of the International Space Station—could take down all power in the U.S.
Even an explosion just 30 kilometers up would take out the Eastern grid, which supplies three-quarters of the country's power.

What happens post-detonation is not a pretty picture, Pry says:
"You'd have massive industrial accidents.
One hundred four nuclear reactors going Fukushima, spreading toxic clouds everywhere.
Oil refineries burning down, oil pipelines exploding.… Airliners crashing down."

.....But it wouldn't necessarily take a hostile foreign power's nuclear trickery to spark the downfall:
The coalition claims American demise could come from the flares of a fickle sun.
A giant solar flare that triggers a geomagnetic storm could inflict the same damage as a high-altitude nuclear blast—but do it on a global scale.
The last such flare—known as the Carrington Event—happened in 1859, frying telegraph lines around the planet. According to Pry, such events happen about every 150 years, so we're already overdue for another.

Margaret Sanger Was a Racist Monster. So Why Did Nancy Pelosi Accept an Award Named After Sanger?

Margaret Sanger Was a Racist Monster. So Why Did Nancy Pelosi Accept an Award
Named After Sanger?:
Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi just might be a racist monster who wants to murder live children for the sake of eliminating “undesirables.”
Why would I say such an outrageous thing?
Because Pelosi has accepted an award named for Margaret Sanger.
And Margaret Sanger was definitely a racist monster who advocated murdering live children for the sake of eliminating “undesirables.”
Quote:
"The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."
That’s advocating child murder.
It’s not racist, but we’re not done.

Sanger considered racial minorities to be “human weeds.”
In context, Sanger’s “weeds” quote carries a whiff of the Third Reich.
"If plants, and live stock as well, require space and air, sunlight and love, children need them even more.
The only real wealth of our country lies in the men and women of the next generation.
A farmer would rather produce a thousand thoroughbreds than a million runts.
How are we to breed a race of human thoroughbreds unless we follow the same plan?
We must make this country into a garden of children instead of a disorderly back lot overrun with human weeds."
These “human weeds” were, in Sanger’s mind, working-class people, and racial minorities.

These U.S. Colleges and Majors Are the Biggest Waste of Money - Derek Thompson - The Atlantic: "
It gets worse. The self-reported earnings of art majors from Murray State are so low that after two decades, a typical high school grad will have out-earned them by nearly $200,000.
Here are the degrees (i.e.: specific majors at specific schools) with the lowest 20-year net return, according to PayScale.
They are all public schools: Bold names are for in-state students.

Rate That Oligarch

Rate That Oligarch - WSJ.com:
You may have noticed that our friends on the left have begun to refer to the Koch brothers and other rich conservatives as "oligarchs." Like calling evangelicals "jihadists" and the tea party "racist," this comparison to the billionaires in Vladimir Putin's circle is meant to stigmatize and marginalize these men politically and socially.
This latest Saul Alinsky tactic got us thinking about who really qualifies as an American oligarch. If the definition is someone who becomes rich by association with government power and policies, and then assists those in power, the Kochs would barely make the list. Their companies are usually harassed by government.
With that standard in mind, we thought we'd offer liberals a list of some other American billionaires and where they rate as oligarchs.
We've also created a ranking method we'll call the Timchenko Scale after Gennady Timchenko, the Russian billionaire pal of Mr. Putin who was recently sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury.
George Soros.
The hedge-fund billionaire made his biggest score and his financial reputation shorting the British pound in 1992, but that was a free-market bet.
He now funds a myriad of left-wing causes, but then it's his money.
His support for statism in the U.S. is also offset to some degree by his support for transparency in dictatorships abroad. Oligarch rating: Half a Timchenko.

50 Years Ago This Terrifying Megaquake Jolted an Entire Ocean

50 Years Ago This Terrifying Megaquake Jolted an Entire Ocean - Wired Science:
"Fifty years ago today, the ground heaved, buckled and roiled as an enormous earthquake struck in Alaska’s Prince William Sound near the town of Valdez. Lasting 3 minutes (something we don’t even want to think about), the magnitude 9.2 quake is the second-largest ever recorded.
When all had settled, 131 people were dead. Most, including 11 people in Crescent City, Calif., were killed by tsunamis the quake sent crashing ashore along the northern Pacific Ocean rim. From Asia to South America, coastlines were flooded by waves that had come from Alaska.
In Valdez Inlet, the waves reached heights of more than 200 feet.
The animation below shows how these waves might have traveled over 20 hours from their epicenter to shores as far away as northern Chile."

A Brief History of Sex Ed: How We Reached Today’s Madness

A Brief History of Sex Ed: How We Reached Today’s Madness | Dr. Rich Swier
Today’s sex ed curricula are based on the widely-accepted teachings of depraved human beings.
Once upon a time, sex education was a simple biology lesson. Students learned the facts of life, and, with those facts, that sex is part of something bigger, called marriage. Teachers explained that this was the moral and healthy way to live.
In those days, people understood that men and women are different, and that their union is unique, unlike any other relationship. It went without saying that boys grew up to become men, and girls, women.
There were only two sexually transmitted diseases, and having one was a serious matter. Certain behaviors were not normal; individuals who practiced them needed help, and a child’s innocence was precious.
Things have changed.
Now we have comprehensive sexuality education. It includes discussion of identity, gender, reproductive rights, and discrimination. Children learn that they’re sexual from birth, and that the proper time for sexual activity is when they feel ready. They’re taught that they have rights to pleasure, birth control, and abortion.
The terms husband and wife aren’t used, the union of man and woman is one of several options, and morality? Well, that’s judging, and judging is not allowed.
You won’t find much biology in sexuality education, but there’s voluminous information on the varieties of sexual expression, the pros and cons of different contraceptives and abortions, and the harms of gender stereotypes.
...Modern sex ed began in the sixties. It was based on Alfred Kinsey’s model of human sexuality. Thanks to the brilliant and courageous work of Dr. Judith Reisman, we now know that Kinsey was both a fraud and a deeply disturbed individual.
For Kinsey, it was anything goes when it came to sexuality, and I mean anything. He believed, for example, that pedophiles were misunderstood, and their punishments unjust. “Sexuality is not an appetite to be curbed,” Kinsey insisted. He taught that, and he lived it.
...The bottom line: sex ed began as a social movement, and it remains a social movement. Its goal is for students to be open to just about any form of sexual expression. Sex ed is not about preventing disease, it’s about sexual freedom, or better—sexual license. It’s about changing society, one child at a time.
You don’t have to be a physician to understand the dangers of this ideology. All you need is common sense. While the founders of sex education are long gone, their vision is alive and well. The obligation to fight it rests on the shoulders of every responsible adult.

Oh Look, Rep. Mike Rogers Wife Stands To Benefit Greatly From CISPA Passing... | Techdirt:
"Just last month, Rogers accidentally tweeted (and then deleted) a story about how CISPA supporters, like himself, had received 15 times more money from pro-CISPA group that the opposition had received from anti-CISPA groups.
So it seems rather interesting to note that Rogers' wife, Kristi Clemens Rogers, was, until recently, the president and CEO of Aegis LLC a "security" defense contractor company, whom she helped to secure a $10 billion (with a b) contract with the State Department.
The company describes itself as "a leading private security company, provides government and corporate clients with a full spectrum of intelligence-led, culturally-sensitive security solutions to operational and development challenges around the world." "

The Democratic Party’s War on Black People and How to Counter It

Roger L. Simon » The Democratic Party’s War on Black People and How to Counter It
As one of the relatively few people (percentage wise) to have spent more than a decade on both sides of our political divide, and also to have participated personally in the civil rights movement in the South in the sixties, I am going to say something that will be extremely controversial to liberals, indeed make them hate me.
Given all those years I spent on the two sides, I have observed liberals to be vastly more racist than conservatives and libertarians.
.....The answers weren’t that complicated.  All these social welfare programs, affirmative actions, etc. were a signal to African Americans that they were inferior, that somehow they couldn’t make it without help.  This became a self-fulfilling prophecy, a kind of mass Stockholm Syndrome.  And, quite naturally, it engendered a great deal of anger.
The system wasn’t all that different from giving heroin or alcohol to a family member to ease him or her out of their addiction.  It didn’t work but it kept them dependent.
Meanwhile, plenty of African Americans succeeded without this dubious “help,” because, quite clearly, they realized they didn’t need it and went on with their lives.  Motivating the supposed “help” the others were getting were two factors: 1. liberal white racism and 2. a desire on the part of the Democratic Party to turn African Americans into a class that would vote for them perpetually, something that party has clearly succeeded in to the complete detriment of African Americans, if we believe even part of all the depressing statistics.
So how do we counter this?
First of all, by calling out the true racists, not the fake ones.
A recent example is Rep. Barbara Lee’s (D-CA) attack on Paul Ryan for his actually rather tepid remarks on poverty.
She called Ryan a racist, when Lee herself, an African American, is far more racist than Ryan, working against the interests of her people.
Lee, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others of their ilk are oddly like the Jewish sonderkommandos and kapos who lorded it over their own brethren in the concentration camps.
Well, perhaps not that bad, but bad enough.
As I have written before, and recently, as has PJM’s Zombie, instead of waiting to be attacked, we should call out the real racists first.
Offense, not defense.
The country is waiting.
And, most of all, you will be doing minorities a favor.
They are the ones, more than any, being oppressed.
Don’t be afraid of helping them get free of their oppressors by telling the truth.
It’s the most humane thing we could all do.
