Fly the Gadsden Flag, Get Kicked Out of School? Guess Where That Happened

Fly the Gadsden Flag, Get Kicked Out of School? Guess Where That Happened:
Upon seeing the flag waving in the air with Old Glory, the principal of Central High School, Jodie Diers, went on a rampage yelling to take the flag down.
Stoneburner was pulled out of a scholarship breakfast, along with his parents, and told that he was not welcome at Central High and that his prank was ‘a slap in the face’ to the school.
His flag was confiscated and he was not awarded his diploma until after graduation.
Stoneburner had strong words for the principal in regards to her actions and her claim that flying the Gadsden flag was ‘a slap in the face’ to the school.
"The Gadsden flag has almost an identical history to the American flag, and was born from a very patriotic cause, and its suddenly a “slap in the face.” This shows the ignorance and misinformation of the people in power over our children. History like this used to be taught in schools all over the United states, and now not even most adults, let alone high school age people know what this flag stands for."

When Shingles Is Just the Beginning

When Shingles Is Just the Beginning - NYTimes.com:
You don’t really need another reason to get the shingles vaccine, for yourself (if you’re over 60) or your older relatives.
A painful rash, possible damage to vision and a substantial risk of the condition called postherpetic neuralgia, which can hurt for a long time — aren’t those enough?
But here’s another reason anyway, courtesy of a British research team:
In the six months after a case of shingles, more formally known as herpes zoster, you may face a much higher risk of having a stroke.
...The researchers’ study, just published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, showed that in the four weeks after a shingles diagnosis, these individuals had a 63 percent higher rate of stroke than at other times. From weeks five through 12, their stroke risk ran 42 percent higher, falling to 23 percent higher in weeks 13 through 26.

"Bestselling author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza said Friday that the left’s “commitment” to civil liberties has been revealed as a “complete sham.”
“Ironically, the left began in the sixties as a defender of free speech,” D’Souza said, speaking on TheBlaze TV’s Dana. “But … as the left began to gain power in the universities, they began to realize there were dissenters against them. And then they began to say, ‘Well, wait a minute — maybe we don’t believe in free speech that much."

Why Johnny can't write, and why employers are mad

Why Johnny can't write, and why employers are mad:
"William Ellet, an adjunct professor teaching writing at Brandeis International Business School, says the problem starts even earlier.
He points out that when the Department of Education in 2012 published what it called "The Nation's Report Card: Writing 2011," just 24 percent of eighth and 12th graders were proficient in writing.
From colleges on down, he said, "nobody takes responsibility for writing instruction.""

Another rude awakening for millennials

Another rude awakening for millennials:
"The report is the latest indication that milllennials' view of their workplace prospects is too rosy.
In a survey of 15-to 27-year-olds by the National Society of High School Scholars, 48 percent said they expected to find jobs in their chosen fields soon after graduating from college.
The Accenture survey found that 46 percent of 2012-2013 graduates are working in jobs that do not require a college degree, up from 41 percent a year earlier.
As for actual employment, at the time the survey was conducted in March, 11 percent of college seniors had landed jobs, down from 16 percent a year earlier."

Harry Reid Denies Saying That One Thing He Totally Said | Video | TheBlaze.com:
"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid now disputes claims that he selectively attacks politically active billionaires, a charge that led recently to his being mercilessly mocked by late-night comedians.
“The point is this: We can speculate who is my favorite billionaire and everyone else can, but the point is, there’s too much money in politics,” Reid told BuzzFeed on Thursday. “I’ve seen a change, I’ve seen a change that is really not good.”

State Government Playing Favorites With Food Providers

State Government Playing Favorites With Food Providers [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
"There are about 10 grocery stores in Marquette serving a population of about 21,355 in the Upper Peninsula city.
And one of them has been in the news recently for the financial aid it's receiving from state taxpayers to help with an expansion project.
The Marquette Food Cooperative will get $615,000 for an expansion from the Michigan Economic Development Program and a $115,000 tax abatement from the city of Marquette.
But is that fair?
On its website, the Marquette Food Cooperative boasts about paying its employees above the minimum wage.
That, says Michael LaFaive, director of the Morey Fiscal Policy Initiative for the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, is evidence that the Co-op shouldn't need government handouts at the expense of its competitors.
If they can do the expansion and pay its employees above minimum wage, more power to them, LaFaive said.
"(But) why drag Michigan taxpayers into the equation?" he said.
"We all want people to do better, but at what price?
… If the expansion is a worthwhile effort, it should require no government money.""

Radio Host Sullivan: NYT Fired Abramson for Criticizing Obama

Radio Host Sullivan: NYT Fired Abramson for Criticizing Obama:
"...earlier this year" (in fact, just last month, in an interview with The Takeaway) Abramson said,  "The Obama years are a benchmark for a new level of secrecy and control."
He said she added that "sources who want to come forward with stories they feel are important are scared to death they're going to be prosecuted."
In January, Abramson called the Obama administration the "most secretive White House" she has covered during her time as a political journalist and later said national security reporting is "effectively being criminalized" under Obama."

This could be BIG!---------Devious Karl Rove sets trap to catch Hillary’s lies

Devious Karl Rove sets trap to catch Hillary’s lies - BizPac Review:
"Maybe Karl Rove is crazy like a fox.
When it comes to Hillary Clinton’s concussion and possible brain damage, Rove seems to be like a cat toying with a spider.
Two possible scenarios are at play over Clinton’s alleged injury:
She lied to get out of testifying in Congress, or she was so injured that she could have lasting damage.
But here is the trap, I believe, that devious Rove has laid:
He isn’t interested in whether Clinton has a medical problem.
He is targeting her lie, believing that she made up the injury to get out of testifying.
By questioning her fitness to run for president, he is forcing her supporters and the news media to emphasize how slight her injuries were.
Then, Republicans will be able to put two and two together for voters.
On Dec. 13, 2012, Clinton ducked out of testifying before the House and Senate foreign affairs committees.
She was called to explain her disastrous failures and outright lies before, during and after the terrorist attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stephens and three other Americans.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philippe Reines said Clinton was suffering from a stomach virus, fainted and hit her head, which caused a concussion.
Reines was vague on when the fall took place.
“I still have some lingering effects from falling on my head and having the blood clot,” Clinton said on “60 Minutes” in January 2013.
“But, you know, the doctors tell me that that will all recede.”"

AZ school district latest to cave on either-sex bathroom policy

» AZ school district latest to cave on either-sex bathroom policy » Fresh Ink -- GOPUSA:
"It's a story being repeated in public schools, and now an Arizona school district has a policy to allow children to use bathrooms of the opposite sex.
On the advice of attorneys, the Tucson Unified School District was told it has to allow young students to be able to use the bathrooms of the opposite sex.
......The issue of transgenders and school bathrooms has been an ongoing issue in California, where Privacy for all Students was formed to fight the so-called "bathroom bill." The group tried - unsuccessfully so far - to get the issue on a statewide ballot."

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes: Conservative Beliefs Ought to ‘Disqualify’ People from Holding Office

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes: Conservative Beliefs Ought to ‘Disqualify’ People from Holding Office:
"In a particularly galling and ridiculous segment on MSNBC’s program “All In” hosted by Chris Hayes, the topic turned to the notion of disqualifying potentially elected officials from office if they hold certain conservative beliefs that don’t coincide with the left’s views on global warming or homosexual marriage.
Hayes posited that it was “progress” that certain issues have created a virulent breed of political intolerance against those who do not believe as liberals do."

"Issa lifted his first subpoena requiring Kerry to testify on May 21 after the State Department said it was seeking another date because Kerry is due to be in Mexico at the time.

“But soon after I lifted the subpoena, the State Department backtracked – stating publicly that we should accept ‘a more appropriate witness’ and refusing to commit to making Secretary Kerry available,” Issa said in a statement. ”With this State Department’s slippery tactics, it’s no wonder our friends in the world are losing faith in us and our adversaries doubt our credibility.”"

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday said the Senate would vote in the coming weeks on legislation for a constitutional amendment to give Congress the power to regulate spending levels in federal campaigns.
Reid said Democrats are pushing for the vote to combat what he said is an effort by billionaires Charles and David Koch to “buy” the U.S. Senate this year. He said that effort is allowed in light of Supreme Court decision that prevents limitations on political spending, and said Congress must act to save democracy from the rich."

LIBERTY REVIEW:

http://www.libertyreview76.blogspot.com/2014/05/may-14-2014-stay-silent-by-tammy.html

While watching the footage, I kept waiting for one of the other parents to say something.  I could hear the words coming out of me.  Stop, what are you doing?  This is wrong.  He is asking a question.  Sadly, the other parents just sat there and ignored what was taking place.  Why did they sit there?  They were afraid to voice concerns about their children’s education.  They were afraid to stand up and support a fellow parent with a genuine concern.  Not wanting to be labeled a trouble maker, and face the possibility of being arrested for speaking, they chose to stay silent.

"But recent press reports, including one from The Hill, noted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials last year released 67,800 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions.

“ICE released 68,000 criminal aliens in 2013, or 35 percent of the criminal aliens encountered by officers. The vast majority of these releases occurred because of the Obama administration’s prosecutorial discretion policies,” Jessica Vaughn, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, wrote in a memo summarizing the DHS document.
